Tink
Movie review: Valkyrie with tom Cruise and some good European Actors I Rate it Four Stars **** Most of the time Hollywood messes up good scripts and make them into bad movies. However this Movie is top notch and had me on the edge of my seat many times. It is a well-craft reenactment of of of 15 known plots to assassinate Adolph Hitler by his own people, not the Allies or the UK. The Sites are real, and I have been to Berchstsgarden and been in the BERGHOF, Hitler home in the Alps. After WW11 th e Berghof is was made into a rest camp for US Soldiers and families.. The film action is good but starts slow, the photography sharp, crisp and riveting, and the Craftsmanship of the movie production is more like a Prussian general that a Hollywood American Star/actor/producer. I would see it again and may buy it my two cents Tink

unioncountyslayer
Glad you liked it. I for one, refuse to pay money to watch Tom Cruise. Anyone that is hailed as, or thinks he's the messiah, for whatever religion isn't getting my hard earned cash. I'm sure it was a good movie, I just can't get past my own convictions. I know we can find something wrong with everyone, but Cruise just makes my skin crawl!

I even change the channel when "Top Gun" comes on. Problem is, I love those types of War movies. Should I go against myself and see it? Way to go Tink, now I have a dilema on my hands. Just wait for it to come on TV, when it's "free". I loved The Last Samuari (sp?), but didn't pay a dime to watch it. That made me feel better about it. Tink
I lived in Post WW11 German arraiving in Germany in 1946 Movie brought back a lot of memories. The Movie was not about Hitler, it was some good Germans that wanted to kill him and bring the war to an early end. Movie was not about Tom Cruise. either. He was an a actor in the flick. Yes many of the people in the movie were older and lived in those times, As far as the Band of Bothers. It was a whole TV mini series. the 506th Inf Regiment captured the Berghof, and made the local German populace bury the dead at a concentration camp they liberated. it was in the BoB Film BTW The men of the 506th made the entire local German populace see first hand what the Nazi government did to other humans, most of them German Jews, Poles and Even Americans. They they had to go and bury the Dead and clean up the camp. There was movie about that dark part of the Third Reich, and It was called Schildlers (SP) List For the record I don't like Tom Cruise either, but it doesn't stop me from watching a good movie. I enjoyed watching his EX Nicole Kidman in Australia as well The 506th Is Stationed at Fire Base Salerno in Southern Afghanistan, part of the 101st Airborne Div Sreaming Eagles Divison They are starting an Archery club and are seeking donation esp releases, and arrows with points & nocks. The Photo below shows the Insigna of the 506th Its a Spade. The Spade was painted on the helmets in Band of Brothers. Its the Commanders Coin that was given to me by the Command Sgt Major of the 506th. If you want to help the Band of Brothers let me know you Can mail gear direct to them thanks Tink Edited December 31, 2008 by Tink
Flintlock1776
I have it on my "to do" list. I am a history buff and big on the WW2 ear and writers like Cornelius Ryan; William L. Shirer ; Eric Sevareid; Anthony Cave Brown etc. Even so, seeing a good visual portrayal in a factual way is good. I am not a fan of revisionists like Oliver Stone.
