My school is in the process of raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We currently have a junior here that has a brother who is in the 4th grade in our school district. We had an assembly yesterday kicking off a fundraiser. We are in competition with our neighboring school district.

I know fundraisers are kind of a drag, but I'll tell you, when you see the kid that's afflicted directly, it really hits home. I think it hits home too because 2 of my kids have a genetic problem too. Watching Nick go through his lung routine, and seeing all the pills he has to take on a daily basis, and knowing his life span will be cut short by this disease, well, it just makes me want to do everything I can to raise some money for this cause.

If you want, or are able, drop a check in the mail. Address it to me Chris Pileski, Buckeye Valley High School, 901 Coover Rd, Delaware, OH 43015. Please don't send cash. Make the check out to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and on the memo put Cure Finders. Your check is tax deductible.

Thanks so much!

Put me in for a 20 spot Chris. Remind me next time we see each other, I'll get it to you. I'm good for it, really. :D;)

Will do buddy, thanks.

Just so you know, the contest we have in the school is based on coins. Coin money adds to your score, paper money subtracts. So if a different room is getting more money than your room, you can stuff their jar with paper money which reduces your total.

If you're mailing me something though, please make it a check so as to reduce the liability of impropriety.

Throw in $20 worth of coins then, I'll get you some paper money.....:D;)

OK Chris, so how about if I send you a check made out to you and you get quarters for what I send for your jar. Mail does not run today, and we do not use our home mailbox for outgoing mail so the check will go out tomorrow morning at the post office. If it does not get to you by Friday, does it still count towards the contest?

I will see what I can scrap together for you Chris. If you could PM me towards the end of the week so I dont forget, that would be helpfull.

When I was a kid, I was involved in a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis called bowl for breath. I brought in the most money for our area. It was pretty cool, we got involved because my mothers good friends brother was the poster child at one time. It was pretty sad to see what that disease could do to young person.:(

Bravo to you and your school Chris, that is a great thing that you guys are doing.

LOL--A check made out to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is fine William. Pretty sure my room is going to win. I've brought in $131 in change so far myself. My room is up to $170 I think. I don't think anyone's going to touch us, and if they get close, I have another $200+ in change waiting in the wings. :D

Thanks Craig. Yeah, Watching Nick on stage was bitter sweet. He's a great kid, so full of life now, and it's so tough knowing his life will be cut so short with this disease. It's also so tough to watch Amanda (Nick's sister). I've had Amanda in class, and you can just tell Nick's her whole world. She's going to be devastated when Nick gets bad. :(
