Rhino
Great hunt for the 1st bird in the bag. Lots of competition from real hens too. This will be a short version of the hunt. Details to come later when I'm at my computer & off this iPhone. After having 2 different pairs of hens go through me to the bird and after waiting for him to service them he finally committed to coming my way. As he got closer he through out his last gobble & switched to drumming. My 1st view of him was in full strut. Another gobbler was with him but never came into view. When he made his mark & turned to leave he caught a load of Nitro 4x5x7's at 34 steps. My 1st bird for the season is 2yr. old with 7/8" spurs & an 8 1/2" beard. Pics & full story when I get home Sunday.
rhine16
Awesome Rhino! Knew it wouldn't be long before you had one down! BTW- was a little too cold here in North MS this morning. Made for very little gobbling activity. Congrats again!

Rhino
Congrats Al, the weather clears and the birds start acting right. Yep...they sure did! Acted just like they always do with live hens around too. Patience was the key to slingin this bird. Thanks everyone. The full story will explain how patience made the difference along with my Madhatters slate call. Redbeard will love knowing that. Going fishing now. BAMABUCKS
Congrats Rhino on breaking the ice. After all the rain this past weekend these sunny days have been great. Went out yesterday & Tuesday here in good ole Bama, but no shots fired yet. Lots of great gobbling though, just need the time it will take to spend with early season birds.
