Skunks

Ok, when i was a kid I always went spotlighting for rabits. It had been made illegal by then, but i grew up doing it and loved it. Anyway, i had this little fiest dog that was the best dog ever. Stayed right with me every step of the way, stopped and listened every time i did. One night he takes off out in a hay pasture. He makes a big loop and comes back straight toward me. I can see a little beady set of eyes right in front of him. Now at the time i was dabbling in skinning and tanning hides from almost anything i could get. I thought "i'll give that thing a swift kick and kill it before he can spray me and get it's hide". The plan was a total disaster. I kicked him and send him in circles, everytime he turned i got squirted, face chest stomach. The skunk did die, and i carried him home. I put him in a coffee can full of water and proceeded to strip and wash with soap in the cold with a water hose. Went inside and took about 3 baths. I didnt know about tomato juice at the time. It took days to get all that smell off me, and I never did open that coffee can, just took it down the hill and tossed it. The stuff we do growing up.

Yes, what would Red say at a time like this. :D:D

"I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to..........I guess."

:D

"Keep your stick on the ice......."

As to the subject at hand, wait until said skunks get east of you, then shoot away. That's my mantra when killing skunks, and I stick to it whenever possible.
