Strut10 Posted August 8, 2009 Report Share Posted August 8, 2009 ............a uniform law or code for the posting of private property?? Other than just stapling up signs, I mean. I guess what I'm looking for is states that may have a "paint blaze" law for the marking of posted property where a certain number of paint marks of a certain color indicate posted ground. Putting up signs is just a "convienience" to let others know where they are. Under Wisconsin law, you are not required to post “No Trespassing” signs or identify your property boundaries unless your land is surrounded by or borders public lands like a national forest, state wildlife management area, or county park. Any person who enters your land or stays without your specific permission is considered to be trespassing (Wisconsin State Statute 943.13 1997). wtnhunt Posted August 8, 2009 Report Share Posted August 8, 2009 Tresspass laws here are kind of screwy Don, I have talked with our warden a few times on this topic. Back probably 9 or 10 years ago the state put out a new reg that said that hunters had to know the land they were on and have written permission on them for the land they were hunting, my understanding was that without that written permission landowners could prosecute those persons without having their land posted with any signs or wardens could ticket those hunters but it was just a more difficult challenge for the officers to enforce land that was not properly posted. Texan_Til_I_Die Posted August 10, 2009 Report Share Posted August 10, 2009 The state of Texas recently has enacted a law (Texas Penal Code, Article 30.05) providing for the use of purple paint to post property boundaries (Texas Statutes, 2001). The use of written posted signs are still recommended at access points, such as gates. Unlike signs, marks are not easily removed or torn down and do not have to be replaced often. In order to post your property using this paint method, the following is required: Place purple paint marks on trees or fence posts Marks must be vertical lines at least 1" wide and 8" high The bottom of the mark must be between 3' and 5' of the ground Marks must be placed at locations readily visible to person approaching property Marks must be no more than 100' apart on forestland and no more than 1000' apart on non-forestland Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jokostel Posted August 11, 2009 Report Share Posted August 11, 2009 North Dakota requires posted signs at all gates, and every 440 yards( or 880, I cannot recall right now).For the most part, even if it is posted, a good majority of the ranchers and farmers in the state are good people.... they will let you on. A handshake and a friendly hello matter more than anything. I ask to hunt posted land once in a while, but for the most part, I hunt federal and state lands.
