MichiganHunter
I'm hopping I can get one bait station up and running and hunt that spot, but what i was wondering is how much do you usually have per stand. I currently have 600lbs of corn, 600lbs of sweet feed, 100lbs of dry dog food, and 100 cans of wet food. Is this enough for 1 stand or do I need more than this (or is this enough for more locations?), I will start baiting August 25st and will go threw October 25th. So a grand total of 61 days, which would give me just over 18 lbs of food per day for my stand location. not counting the cans of wet dog food and any extras I come across (bread and such). Really need some good advise on this one PLEASE AND THANK YOU :eat: Edited August 8, 2009 by MichiganHunter
PotashRLS
I never figured it out by the pounds. We are running 4 baits right now because they always go cold just before season when the cornfields are in their milk stage. Having multiple baits helps to pick the hottest bait to hunt. We place just under 5 gallons each time and right now we are baiting 3 times a week. We buy the bait by the 55 gallon barrel. I started with 3 barrels of granola and one of icecream cones. I also use pie filling, bread, barrels of jam and pour used frying grease (talk to your local grocery store or gas station that deep frys chicken) around the baits for scent. I also liquid smoke the area to get the bait started. I think you should try 2 baits at least so you can maximize your odds at hunting an active bait. stevebeilgard
a 30 gallon drum full of waste is usually enough if you check them every day or 2. don't foget the sweets like old donuts from the store, grease from the local greasy spoons, etc. it's usually free. or, go to a slaughter house and collect drums of waste. they'll be happy to get rid of it.
