dfol20
My lab has this sore on his pad that won't go away. He has had it for over a week. I may look a little better not all that much. We think he may have burned it on the stove, but not sure. My question is, does anyone have any good solutions to healing my dog's pad? It is about teal season and I need to get him out and in shape. The worst part is he was laid up for 3 weeks before this becaue he had surgery to remove a golf ball. So I haven't been able to work with hime for more than a month. I feel bad he has been cooped up all this time.
redkneck
All I've ever used for animals for home treatment is that purple spray you get at the vet/co-op for livestock. As long as you keep it clean and treated it should heal up, but if it gets oozy or smelly I'd get him to the vet for a course of antibiotics. layin on the smackdown
The worst part is he was laid up for 3 weeks before this becaue he had surgery to remove a golf ball. . LMAO!!!! I know its not funny, but it kind of is in a way. My dog swallowed a treble hook one time while we were fishing...$1500 later he is still an idiot, but you gotta love em. How did he burn himself on the stove? LOL! Seriously, just make sure it isn't the beginning of Auto Immune Dermatosis...If its just a flesh wound or something, follow the above instructions and it should heal up pretty quickly. good luck, i hope you dog gets better soon! dan

mike13candace
My Golden had surgery to remove a growth on his pad. I soaked his paw in epson salt everynight. Keep it as dry as possible during the day.. change bandage a lot. Good luck..
hunterbobb
Make sure he is not licking it or biting at the scab. If he does you might have to put him in an E collar and a boot.

PremiumBeef
It is hard to diagnose without seeing the foot, but if it truly is a burn (thermal or friction) keep it clean, I would wash it with warm tap water initially. You could loosley wrap the paw with some vet wrap with non-adhesive gauze pads with neosporin on them placed over the affected pad. Your best bet though is to go see your local veterinarian to make sure nothing else is going on.
