Oklahoma Cougar Pic?

We do have Cougars in Oklahoma. They actually arent that rare. Last year the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife made it legal to shoot them if they are posing a threat to person or property.

I hear of sightings every year but dont know if this is an Oklahoma shot or not. Supposedly it was taken in Bluejacket, Ok (NE Corner of the state Near the Kansas Border). That area is full of Rio Grand Turkeys, Deer, and it has a very large lake (Grand Lake) so a cougar could easily thrive there.

It was texted to me so the shot is really small. Regardless, its a really cool capture.

You know Jeramie, an employee of the ODW actually told a group of people here that Cougars aren't in our area?

I've personally never seen one but have heard from reliable sources that they are present.

I'm actually surprised that the ODW has admitted to them being in Oklahoma at all. Will have to do some research.

Years ago they told everyone that until they started getting hit by cars and stuff.

Also, a documentry was done about their range. They collared a few in South Dakota. One ended up in Central Oklahoma where it was shot by a farmer. They followed it all the way through Oklahoma.

Also, last year cougar tracks were found in a suburb of Tulsa near a community pond. They are really, really hard to deny now.

Especially since its legal to kill them under certain circumstances. ;)

There has to be cats down around the mountains. With that landscape it just works out for them!

Go to Cuddeback's website and click on photo of the week. You have to scroll back a bit, but it is in there. It is actually a picture from Texas.

Yes there is an echo in this thread. :p
