Master_Chief
Dr told me yesterday I have bursitis in my left shoulder. Gave me some steroids to stop inflammation and told me to ice. Hopefully I can get it under control before I leave for Pa. for a week's worth of archery. Hurts to lift a cup of coffee so needless to say when the pain goes away I have alot of catch up practice to do.
hammerforged
Been there, done that. It ain't no fun. Prayers for a quick recovery. Just don't rush the catch up practice. I returned to the forge too soon and was down for another 2 months.
wtnhunt
Have experienced some recurring shoulder troubles myself, supposedly tendonitis according to our regular family physician. Seems anymore to me physicians are really quick to use steroids for treatments for a broad range of symptoms. Hope the steroids work for you. bghunter777
I will be finishing my exercise science BA in may! I would recomend rest but when the pain subsides doing some water resisted exercise just get in a pool and move around a little. if you have the resource possible use some weights in a pool anthing to get the range of motion. FYI dont push it to fast to early that will just keep the inflamation from going down. Also i know this is a little work but lowering the draw weight on your bow would make drawing it easier. I would not recomend shooting your bow to site it back in possibly have a friend shoot your bow after the poundage is lowered to make sure it still shoots well then you shoot it only a few times to make sure your point of aim is the same as your friend. also limit the range you shoot most bows still will shoot out to 20 yards with 1 pin even at a lower draw weight. i know this may not be your first option but its better than not hunting at all! Good luck hope it works out for you!

redkneck
Been there myself man. It comes and goes. Was taking some medications for a while and stopped the problem. It still flares up from time to time. Lots of good meds these days.
m gardner
Does gave you steroids mean that they injected your shoulder or orally? I had mine injected 15 years ago and it's been fine ever since. The swimming is a good idea. I shot 45 pounds for a year too. Guess what? I got a complete passthrough that year on my buck and shot 2 turkeys. I had to have a muzzlebreak put on my 270 though or I couldn't shoot it much. Good luck. woolybear
I had it in my knee about 10 yrs ago. Don't remember what doc gave me for the swelling to subside, but I do remember it worked just in time before they got in there with the giant turkey baster needle to drain it. Master_Chief
Steroids are orally. Ice it a ton. Side effect of steroid, insomnia. Not many folks on here between midnight and 3:00.
Turkeygirl
What time do you take your steroid? If not already taking it at this time, take it in the morning at breakfast, if not sooner...I gave alot of steroids in nursing clinical for COPDers and one of the first things we leared about steroids...take them in the morning! What steroid are you taking, prednisone? Do what the doc says so you aren't laid up anymore than you are. And lowering the draw weight on your bow is a good idea as well. Should be icing 20 minutes, ice will reduce the swelling, may also make things a little stiff as well. Take it easy!
Master_Chief
Ruth, Thanks. I am taking the steroid (prednisone) in the morning. Icing the heck out of it. Seems to be much better today but I know the false sense of healing can be bad too. Following docs orders to the "T"
