bowhuntMN
I'm looking at buying a sled before winter hits and have narrowed it down to a few that i like. I have friends who snowmobile a lot and know what they're talking about but i thought i'd post the question on here for anyone to give me their opinion. Which one do you guys like? Or if you have any other advice for buying a sled let me know. I'm not looking to spend any more than about $2500. JimT
Hey... I ride a Yamaha Vector GT so go with the Yamaha. Hehe. Actually out of theose three I would go with the Yamaha or the Polaris. The Polaris will have some more power then the others, which is always nice. I owned a 98 ZR500 and it went pretty good. Do a compression check on the sled you decide on and make sure the engine is tight. A buddy of mine picked up a Ski-Doo Legend 600 last year for $2500.00 and it is a pretty sweet sled. Decisions decisions...... I am going to get either an Apex or MXZ800R next year. Running the Vector one more season. I think i'm gonna go look at the yamaha and the arctic cat tomorrow but i won't be able to actually buy one for a few weeks. thanks for the tips! JimT
No. Thats me on my Vector...Just something to get you going. Alot will depend on your riding style. The ZR is more of a ditch banger, the SX is more of a groomed trail sled, and the XC is good at both.
bowhuntMN
that video definately got me going! i'd probably be better off with the xc then cuz we have trails all over but i'd like some versatility with my sled. did the front end of the xc look short to you? its not a big deal to me but just wondering if it was my eyes or it looked short to you too

JimT
K. Was hoping it was. We are about 8 weeks out from our first ride. Usually go for it on Christmas day. Will this be your first sled?
bowhuntMN
K. Was hoping it was. We are about 8 weeks out from our first ride. Usually go for it on Christmas day. Will this be your first sled? Yup! I'm excited. We live on a lake that is a HUGE crossroads of trails. Plus people go cruising on our lake and lots of them stop at the bar thats on the lake to eat. I always joke that we're the only people in our whole area that don't have a sled.

JimT
Should add one thing. I have my sled tuned up at the dealer every year. It is worth the money to have an extra set of eyes go over it. You do -not- want to be stranded 50 miles in the middle of nowhere. Also, clothes are huge. You will want the best jacket, gloves, bibs, boots and helmet you can afford. Being cold will end your day early.

They always have a ton of stuff and are able to work a little bit with the prices.
