TBow
No, I'm not bashing christmas here. But I am bashing the fact that most of the malls, grocery stores and radio stations have already started playing christmas music, if that's what you can call it. I mean like holly cow batman, xmas was over a month and a half away and just about every store I put a foot in had something like Alvin and the Chipmunks playing some looney tuned garbage that was supposed to get me into the xmas spirit. Even my satilite radio (that I pay a subscription to), altered the regular format from one of their channels in order to play, gulp, xmas formatted music (I'd use 4lettered words here, but they'd kick me off the site I think!). Hey I can take I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas or Come All Ye Faithful on Christmas eve, or even the week before, but Two months before..........good grief Charlie Brown! So is it just me, or is everyone else a tad ticked off with the loss of their favorite music this far in advance of the festive season? TBow.....Scrooged? Dakota
Haven't really noticed the music yet, but we've had our decorations up for almost three weeks and have our Christmas specials going on right now at Scheels. It's crazy, believe me, I know. Dakota
Dawg
The radio stations here will start playing Christmas songs the day after Thanksgiving. Wally world already has the garden center decked out in decorations. It really doesn't bother me, I like Christmas.
GWSmith
...And ya'll laughed at me with my low-tech cassette player did'ntcha:clown: I have not heard much of the Christmas music around yet but I'm sure I will. Theres not much I can do about it so I have to choose to accept it or go stark raving mad...more than usual...lol The longer the season draws on the less I go out...now you know why. P.S. I have alot of videos and dvds so I dont even have to watch the programming on TV either;)

Doe-ee
I've had to listen to it at least 50 hours a week from November 12th till January 02 for many years now. If I never again hear "The Happy Elf" song, it'll be way too soon. I seem to be able to block out most of the rest of them but that one just jars the brain.:wacko::wacko:
doubledrop
I absolutely hate christmas music. the only thing that would make it complete for me is a straight jacket and a nice cold white padded room. all i want to do is enjoy my self before i go to work or anywhere for that matter and listen to a little country music. Looks like its back to breaking out the CD case.
Jeramie
I love Christmas and dont mind the music. However, it is a bit early and the radio stations in Tulsa have already been playing the music for WEEKS now...
Turkeygirl
Yeah, it's nuts...used to be you saw the x-mas stuff in stores after Thanksgiving! Now it's after Halloween! Just goes to show the majority do not know the real meaning of Christmas...especially when all you see is santa crap...
RangerClay
Don't worry. The Easter candy will in stores next!
Ashley
I love Christmas music My best friend hates Christmas music out of season, though. However, she can tolerate it after Thanksgiving, so starting that day, I write a Christmas song on her Facebook wall every day until Christmas :clown:

hunterbobb
I'm going to take a bit different approach here. Yes I don't like the music either. However, have we forgotten what the true meaning of christmas is. In these troubled times, I think anything that makes us stop for a minute and consider that message may have a positive effect. So in that spirit. I BRING YOU TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY. FOR ONTO YOU, IN THE CITY OF DAVID, IS BORN A SAVIOR. HE IS CHRIST THE LORD. PEACE ON EARTH GOOD WILL TOWARD ALL MEN. Doe-ee
Any music played at work must not have a religious theme to it. That may be just why it's so annoying. The reverence of the spirit of Christmas is removed. I still enjoy songs that praise the real reason for the season!
okiedog
Even my satilite radio (that I pay a subscription to), altered the regular format from one of their channels in order to play, gulp, xmas formatted music So is it just me, or is everyone else a tad ticked off with the loss of their favorite music this far in advance of the festive season? TBow.....Scrooged? I take it you listen to music from the 1940's? I know that XM put their Christmas Music on channel 4. Not sure what Sirius did maybe you have that. okiedog
I will start playing Christmas music at my store the day after Thanksgiving.... although I have had my Christmas trees and decorations out for about a month now.
TBow
Don't get me wrong. I love the sentiment behind the meaning of christmas and I try my darndest to spread good will towards men at all times of the year, not just December 25th. I have large family getogethers at xmas and cherish sharing time and memories with the ones that I love. And yes, on christmas EVE, I actually play christmas CARROLS when the family is there, and yes I actually enjoy them....then! But listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks and all the other goof-balled looney tuned songs that have nothing whatsoever to do with the true spirit of christmas, two months before the actual festive day, irks me beyond belief! Not that I agree with it, but I understand the reason behind malls palying xmas music so early. They're trying to boost retail sales by trying to put people in the christmas spirit, which means spend, spend spend anymore I guess. But radio stations? Pour quoi? What in the name of sanity makes them think that their listeners that have faithfully tuned into country, or rock, or pop, or easy listening all year long, no longer want to hear their favorite songs, but instead opt for some squeaking rhodents bust a move while mom is kissing Santa Claus. That's when I become Charlie Brown and no Linus is gon'na perk me up. I remember when I worked for RCA in the 70s. At Christmas, they'd always play Elvis Presley's Christmas album.......over and over and over again over the PA system. "I'll Have a Blue Christmas Without You", near drove me nuts and I think I still exhibit a twitch in my right eye whenever I hear it on the radio......which I immediately change channels or turn off. And oh ya, I have Sirius Radio. They did the same to me last year and I wrote them a two page snottogram hoping they'd get the message. Obviously, letters/emails to the company appear to fall on deaf ears. Heck they must be deaf. They keep listening to Alvin and the Rats. TBow...BAH! HUMBUG! stevebeilgard
our wal mart had christmas stuff out by mid september. just a bit early for me. but let's not forget the business aspect of chirstmas. there's lots of dollars to be made, so all the christmas music and decorations are simply about the money. always follow the money trail.
