Dawg
Me and a buddy of mine were out walking the property line here at work yesterday and came across some deer sign. There's been a couple of does spotted a time or two over the past few years but we were totally suprised to see how much the deer are coming around here and were even more suprised to find a buck's rub line no farther then 100 yards off one of our docks. The red square to the left is where the rub line is, the box on the right is where we have seen a doe and more tracks. The blue line is a creek. We are in a industrial area with a concrete/asphalt plant to the North of us, welding and diesel mechanic shops to the West, neighborhoods and a railroad/railroad depo thingymajig to the East. We thought it was pretty cool to see the deer sign in a very small area. The whole red square to the left is no bigger than a acre in size. I guess these deer are walking the creek at least a couple of miles. Edited January 27, 2010 by Dawg

bfletch7441
They probably feel pretty safe in there. You might ask if you can hang a stand. You're subject to come across a real brute hanging out in there. Ben
Dawg
We just walked the line again and counted the rubs. We came up with 44 total rubs inside the red square area on the left. Some on trees about as big around as a sharpie marker to some on trees as big around as a coke can. I would hunt back there but it's in the city limits and I'm not sure if bow hunting is allowed. I know for sure gun hunting ain't allowed. I'm gonna have to check into the bow hunting. Tomorrow we are going to walk the red sqaure area to the right and see if the buck has been back there, I'm betting he has. We are going to start feeding them and try to get a game cam hung up out there. Should be entertaining!!

redkneck
Funny Corey, we got a warehouse in an industrial park we use to store parts. I was walking around last week just looking at countless rubs just behind the plant, some from this year, others from previous seasons. There's lots of land back further behind the plant, but why they keep coming to this little exposed strip of pines is beyond me. Some of the best bucks are always taken near city limits and industrial parks it seems.
johnf
About 20 years ago a friend of mine who is a pharmacist opened the back door of his store to go out for a smoke and a nice 8pt ran right into the store. It was in the middle of town. After about 5 minutes of chasing it around they got it out the front door and across Main street. It left a pretty good mess of deer poop, pee and anything you would find in a small town pharmacy.
