Thanks guys.

Yeah - the sky was once again all cloudy this day - I had my exposure compensation set to +2/3 to try and compensate for it but still had to adjust it in post precessing. I just wish we'd get some sun sometime soon.

Looks like clouds and flurries for the next 10 days.

I figured as much. A bummer with the overcast. What program to adjust with RAW files, just to be nosy?

Thanks guys

ruttinbuc- I use Photoshop CS4 for all my post processing. Then I use Topazadjust Denoise for the noise. And sometimes Focus Magic. They are all plugins for photoshop.

I still have a lot of learning to do on post processing though, I think there's just as much to that, if not more than there is taken the pics.

Thanks Dave. That CS4 is a whole other world and really does have a steep learning curve from what I have investigated on it. I thought about taking the full course on it, but it would include a drive to the city everyday. I don't think I could handle that. There are some basic courses for photoshop locally, but a long way from what you really need to know for CS4.

Thanks again guys.

Mike - I never even had photoshop before getting CS4. I bought a tutorial off line from I think it was called Lydia.com tutorials or something I can't remember right now. It was a great disk and well worth the price I paid for it because like I said I didn't know a thing about photoshop.

It definately has a lot of stuff I haven't even started to learn yet but I've got a pretty good workflow that I use now.

Your Pileated Woodpecker shots are excellent

Hi, Dave:

Excellent close-up of a female Pileated Woodpecker. The male would have some red color at the end of the black streak running back from his bill. Both male and female have red tops on their heads.

You might enjoy my 7 min video of a family of these birds. You will find it if you do a search for 2009 Pileated Woodpecker Nest

What was your lens/scope/camera setup for these shots.? Very good focus, too.

As Ever,
