Texan_Til_I_Die
Haven't been on lately and here's why. In mid January I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. No symptoms, but my PSA levels were slightly elevated and I was sent to see a urologist. They biopsied my prostate, not a fun procedure btw, and the pathology report said positive. Well, to make a long convoluted story short, the bottom line is that 2 other pathologists that have since looked at my biopsy have said they would not have called what they see cancer. Now someday, maybe 5 - 10 years down the road it might grow into cancer and need treatment, but as of right now there's nothing to worry about. I'll get my PSA's checked regularly on 3 month intervals and perhaps have another biopsy done in a year to make sure. And in my best Forrest Gump voice...That's all I have to say about that. BTW - Apologies to my deer contest teammates. I whacked two does right before all this happened, but I never got around to posting my entry. Hope you'll understand why. Turkeygirl
Sounds like quite the ordeal! Glad you got seen by someone else....I'm trusting fewer and fewer Dr's these days...nurses too by what I see going on in the system....Congrats on the does! redkneck
Sorry to hear about your health problems, but good to hear it wasn't cancer at least not yet. I've heard enough about those biopsies to know I hope to never get one. A friend at work said that the biopsy was actually more painful than when he had his prostrate removed. It surely does pay to have a second opinion.

PotashRLS
So did the first Doctor see you as a cash cow? Stay on the offensive and you'll be okay. Unfortunately you can't put all your faith in what a doctor says. You have to do a lot of leg-work yourself and get educated so you can make the right decisions. Glad to hear you are well ! ruttinbuc
It is good to have you back, Mike and everything is OK. You just never know. Always good to get that second and third opinion if need be.
m gardner
Same thing here. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The doc wanted to pass me around to specialists that I neither had time or money to go to. I got the same feeling I got shortly before being mugged the last time and bailed (I didn't pull my pistol but I should have). My new doctor says I'm fine and I have been for 2 years. Funny huh?
