Swamphunter
My wife had talked me into the facebook thing. Surprisingly I liked it more than I thought. In fact there are a lot of guys from Realtree on there that I enjoy reading what they post, or sharing comments. Over the past few months I had noticed that several of my comments regarding both my 2nd amendment rights and references to my opinion on the need to secure our nations borders have been reported as abusive, and then deleted. Obviously because of my job, I cannot nor would I post vulgar messages or personal attacks on anyone. Someone in my circle of friends has been reporting my posts to the facebook police, and attempts to get them removed! What amazes me is that facebook actually DOES!!! Now those of you that are friends with me have read that nothing I post is out of line, or out of character for a pro 2nd amendment sportsman who enjoys the outdoors and shooting sports. I have read many F-bombs and they seem to be left untouched, but God forbid I mention anything about the 2nd amendment. I realize that more than likely, no one from these forums have a much different view on firearms than I do, so I felt I could vent and ask if you guys have stuff removed ever? Enjoy your firearms while you got em folks... the tide is against us. It is evident in everyday life, wherever you turn. :gun2: Edited March 10, 2010 by Swamphunter
RangerClay
Ken, it appears to me that one of your "friends" is reporting you or how would facebook know of what you are putting on your wall. Maybe you should clean house of anyone you don't know personally.
Larry
Not a "Facebook" user, however I agree that someone must be turning you in. Its ashame that the Facebook Police would actually remove your posts!:hammer1:

I want to give it a day so the offender knows that I was on to them... lol
Fawn09
I haven't had anything removed on my facebook. But i have had facebook say that they closed my chat due to abusive behavior....and really i was just chatting with people i usually do. You can look on facebook somewhere it will tell you about the whole abusive, reporting issues. I know i just left mine for a little while and it went back to normal. Hoosierbuck
Swampy, You have not posted anything a fair minded person would find objectionable. They may not agree, but nothing was offensive. fb must be leftist liberal. I have never had anything deleted that I know of. I have some pretty lefty friends on there, too. Nut
I never saw anything offensive from you:). I had a relative delete me as a friend because something I put up scared her. However she never reported me as offensive. It is ironic because her Mom loves the things I put up for fun.
gzilla45
I can't say that I have ever had anything deemed offensive on my facebook posts but now I'm going to try. I'll be sure to fill it with 2nd amendment quotes. Facebook is probably a CA based company and as left as can be which doesn't surprise me at all. ruttinbuc
I have an account and too many friends I really don't know from the devil. I have been kicking out the ones with causes and concerns or looking to sell something through it all. I would suspect that it may be someone you let slip in with intentions other than "friendship." I really can't see putting it out there like too many do. If I want drama I'll tune into TNT...
wtnhunt
Not a facebook or myspace user Ken, so don't know a whole lot about them. My wife and oldest daughter both have facebook accounts though, they seem to get countless requests from people they don't know and they reject them. Like someone else mentioned, probably someone you let slip in, probably time to clean house.
TBow
I'm not a Facebook user, nor will I ever be. I really don't know a lot about it, except for the fact that most of my kids (they're all grown and on their own) are on it. It has caused problems with my kids before, where they write stuff that gets taken out of context and causes awkward situations with friends and family. My one daughter broke up with a boyfriend and he started posting stuff to some of her friends and family. Awkward! Way too much of a chance for upsetting situations just such as the one you described Ken. I guess you just have to look at it personally and ask yourself if the benefits outweigh the few aggravasions. I think the way it's set up and used, I personally believe it has way too much of a possibility for abuse, stalking and identity theft. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I seem to be content sitting in my little corner of the world posting on Realtree and a few other hunting forums. Texan_Til_I_Die
I wouldn't be too surprised if the people in control of Facebook didn't take it on themselves to delete content that they disagree with, whether it has been reported or not. Hoosierbuck
I am leery of anyone that I don't know in some context who wants to "friend" me by virtue of having a "friend" in common. I think that people with 1500 "friends" are up to somethign. It could be as simple as just trying to collect as many friends as possible, I don't know. (Except for the celebrity types, which I understand.) I got a friend request last week from a little gal who is a hunter and got to me through like Tom Miranda or something. Point is, I don't know her, I'll never meet her, she has 1500 friends, and she is a little hottie. No way in heck would I put her on my friend list. T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Even if the worst thing is my wife seeing it and saying, "WHO is that???" Still more trouble than it would be worth. HB
Swamphunter
am leery of anyone that I don't know in some context who wants to "friend" me by virtue of having a "friend" in common That I don't do... the only problem I run into here is I get a lot of Realtree members who I don't know by name, but hate to say no to them. Some names here are common with their real names, but others... beats me who they are, and I hate to not let them in as a friend.

Ethan Givan
I put pics of any animals I kill or fish I catch on my facebook and I have had people that I dont know send me messages telling me I am a terrible person, and that I am sick for harming animals. Thats about the extent of it. Nothing I cant handle. I have posted bumper stickers that were anti-obama, pro-hunting and pro 2nd amendment rights and never had an issue. Nut
That I don't do... the only problem I run into here is I get a lot of Realtree members who I don't know by name, but hate to say no to them. In fact I just approved some looney tune from Realtree as a friend at Facebook. Tominator would have told me to run far and fast.:) I approve people from Realtree if I have known how they are from the postings here. The rest are 75% relatives. joeaveragehunter
that is weird. My "friends" and I are always jabbing obama and peta and talking hunting and never had anything like that happen. Never even heard of a post getting deleted. Sounds like you got zips in the wire.
