SchuLace
Well I bought a bow in November but hadn't got the chance to shoot it until today. Between snow and not having the funds to buy arrows, a release and a target, shooting it never happened. Today I went to Scheels to look at a gun that I have been thinking about buying and I happened to walk into the bow section. I decided it was time to get everything needed to shoot. $150 later I was out the door and headed home to try it out. It was windy and cold out but I still shot about 50 times. I was shooting from 20 yards just to work on my form and get used to shooting. My accuracy wasn't great but it really wasn't too bad either. I tended to shoot more towards the right than I hoped but I think part of it was the wind at my back and me just not being able to steady myself that great before I shot. I currently have a drop away rest on my bow but after shooting today I am thinking about getting a WB. I had a few arrows fall off as I was drawing back. A few times as I released, my string would hit my left arm. Is there something wrong with my form? Does anyone know what would cause this? I can say, I am probably hooked on bows. I had a blast. It was cold and windy, but it was really nice to get outside after a long winter and have some fun. Now all I need to do is take the Bowhunter education course and practice alot more. Hopefully I will be ready this fall.
Diamond Archer 01
Glad to hear that you like shooting your bow. What kind of drop away rest do you have on your bow right now?
SchuLace
QAD Ultra Rest Hunter. After I posted earlier I decided it was still light out and went out and shot 20 more times. I can't get enough of it haha

redwing
Sounds like your rest isn't tuned in right, i'd have the pro shop check it out.
SchuLace
your rest isn't tuned in right, i'd have the pro shop check it out. Are you referring that to the fact that my arrow would fall off?
Wobbly_Alaska
your rest isn't tuned in right, i'd have the pro shop check it out. thats what makes you lead right a lot the arrow falling off the rest is form and shaky draw. practice you will get better... try turning your bow down a few lbs to get used to shooting it with out working to hard
SchuLace
The more I shot the more I am thinking I was the reason my arrows were going to the right. Once I started shooting more I was not going to the right. So far I have been shooting from 20, 30 and 40 yards. I am focusing more on getting comfortable at those distances and not so much on my accuracy. Once I feel I am really comfortable at 40 I will start going for accuracy. SchuLace
I got a Mathews Ovation. A good friend of mine who is a bow tech at Scheels bought it new and used it for a couple years. He got a new one and had this one sitting around so he sold it to me. I paid $350 for the bow, Mathews Quiver, hard case, sight, rest and a couple arrows.
