Finally Shot My Bow

Well I bought a bow in November but hadn't got the chance to shoot it until today. Between snow and not having the funds to buy arrows, a release and a target, shooting it never happened. Today I went to Scheels to look at a gun that I have been thinking about buying and I happened to walk into the bow section. I decided it was time to get everything needed to shoot. $150 later I was out the door and headed home to try it out. It was windy and cold out but I still shot about 50 times. I was shooting from 20 yards just to work on my form and get used to shooting. My accuracy wasn't great but it really wasn't too bad either. I tended to shoot more towards the right than I hoped but I think part of it was the wind at my back and me just not being able to steady myself that great before I shot.

I currently have a drop away rest on my bow but after shooting today I am thinking about getting a WB. I had a few arrows fall off as I was drawing back. A few times as I released, my string would hit my left arm. Is there something wrong with my form? Does anyone know what would cause this?

I can say, I am probably hooked on bows. I had a blast. It was cold and windy, but it was really nice to get outside after a long winter and have some fun. Now all I need to do is take the Bowhunter education course and practice alot more. Hopefully I will be ready this fall.

The more I shot the more I am thinking I was the reason my arrows were going to the right. Once I started shooting more I was not going to the right. So far I have been shooting from 20, 30 and 40 yards. I am focusing more on getting comfortable at those distances and not so much on my accuracy. Once I feel I am really comfortable at 40 I will start going for accuracy.

I got a Mathews Ovation. A good friend of mine who is a bow tech at Scheels bought it new and used it for a couple years. He got a new one and had this one sitting around so he sold it to me. I paid $350 for the bow, Mathews Quiver, hard case, sight, rest and a couple arrows.
