Diamond Archer 01 Posted March 24, 2010 Report Share Posted March 24, 2010 I am thinking about trying out a thumb trigger release at my local archery shop just to see if I like it. I was wondering what the advantages are of using a thumb trigger instead of an index finger style release. If you guys use them which one do you have and which ones do you guys like. m gardner Posted March 25, 2010 Report Share Posted March 25, 2010 I went to a thumb trigger release with wrist strap because it was a smooth transition from shooting fingers which I can't do anymore. The thumb releases I tried I needed to change my anchor point and it felt uncomfortable. If you like it then use it. pointing_dogs_rule Posted March 25, 2010 Report Share Posted March 25, 2010 I have a thumb release that I bought last year for two reasons. First off I have always had a finger release with a wrist strap. As I am getting older the eyes are going and it is harder to attched the release to the loop (can be a problem if the deer shows up quickly). Second, I have some habit of punching the trigger. I have found that the thumb release has decreased this to almost zero. I find it to be a lot smoother release of the arrow. With the thumb release that I have I can leave the release attached to the string loop so I do not have to fiddle with the attchment when the time comes.
