Goinghuntin
I bought a red dot site last week and just got it sighted in on my turkey gun :2guns: But I was talking with a buddy at work and he said that every time the battery dies you gotta re-sight the gun in. Is that true? And how long do the batteries typically last? Nathan
jcwa
No thats not true, you don't have to resight it in. I take the battery out of my red dot scope on my turkey shotgun every year when I'm done hunting. Look in the owners manual, it should tell you the amount if time the battery should last. They last a good long while
MichiganHunter
thats not true. the sight in a red dot is a beam of light projected onto a piece of glass. the adjustment is typicaly the light projector so you will be fine. if that was true you would loose your point of aim every time you shut it off. I have a halo on my pistol...simular to red dot.
Goinghuntin
Look in the owners manual, it should tell you the amount if time the battery should last. They last a good long while The owners manual was pretty vague when it came to battery life. All it mentioned was that the battery will hold power for years when not in use thats not true. the sight in a red dot is a beam of light projected onto a piece of glass. the adjustment is typicaly the light projector so you will be fine. if that was true you would loose your point of aim every time you shut it off. Thats how I figured it worked. Thanks for the quick reply guys. You're the best Nathan
RangerClay
Like the others have said, "Hogwash!" I've had a red dot on my shotgun since 1995. It has always stayed true. Be sure to carry an extra battery with you at all times.
