Had it apart at the start of the season because the brushes were all gummed up and it'd hardly roll over at all, worked like a champ for a while now it sounds like it's shorted out inside. Took it apart and couldn't pinpoint it, but she's cooked, you can smell it. Came in frustrated and dad said we'll go get a new lawn tractor in the morning. Went over to TSC and they had this one on sale for $1099. MTD 13.5hp Briggs & Stratton, 6 speed, 38" deck. I thought it might be a little low on power, our other one had a 12hp Tecumseh and it'd bog down in nearly no grass. This thing is a trooper! I bet it didn't drop 100RPM the whole time it was cutting, the grass was really long and no grass clippings left behind, just turns it to dust. Turns on a dime too. I love the thing! Only thing I don't like is you can't use reverse with the blades engaged. I'll have that bypassed in no time though. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Had to bypass the reverse switch on the mower we had at the nursing home, aggravating as all get out. I installed the deck just yesterday and fired her up today and cut my 1 acre building lot that I'm hoping to build on next year. It has a 54" deck with a 26 hp Briggs&Stratton. The only help I had was a Coors tall boy! Things just seemed to fall into place once I got to the bottom of that Coors! KE Ke ke!
