mikewink
I have a good friend that shot a buck 3 years ago, right after the season ended he got shipped to Iraq. While gone another friend got his buck mounted. the entire mount is starting to turn yellow! They don't smoke, is there a reason for this? Improper tanning is my guess, but not sure. Is there a way to reverse it? stop it? Thanks, Mike
RTF
That's a tough one. It's possible the cape was not washed properly after tanning and the chemical residue left behind has reacted to the air. I would get a hold of the taxidermist who did it and see if he has an answer and is willing to help out.

Even putting them in front of a window will cause this. The more sunlight, the quicker it happens. Also, exposure to heat will speed up the process. If the mount hasn't been exposed to this kind of light, something fishy may be going on with the chemicals. Every taxidermist tans hides differently so there's no telling.
