  1. Bagging a turkey is something that takes time, patience, luck and lots of effort. You don't go out and instantly become a great turkey hunter. You put in your time, learn from your mistakes, and pay attention to what the turkeys tell you. They will show you where they want to go, you will learn what they want to hear and when they want to hear it. But you won't learn any of this with out experience and time in the field. Go out intending to enjoy yourself. If you happen to be lucky enough to take a tom all the better. If you don't get a turkey at least you had some time out in the woods with nothing to bother you. It will come.
  2. Same here, I hunted hard for 3 years before I bagged my first one. You learn from each encounter and you will be taking limb hangers in no time. Wigs
  3. Concentrate on the boss's land. Get there at 5am Sunday, and sit and listen until about 7am. Don't get up and move around. Find a good central spot and sit. Then go back to the same spot Sunday evening. Bring a chair. Go in around 7pm and sit until 8:30-9pm. That is when it is dark. Bring your owl hoot and only hoot at dark, not 7:30, not 8 because it is not dark yet. And only hoot if you hear nothing. Go back to the same spot Monday am again at 5 am and listen. Im telling you the birds around here do not gobble every day. Go back in there Monday evening same as Sunday. Try and get a good location on the birds in the am and be in the same area in the PM to get a roost location.
  4. What are you trying to do? Im a little confused.

  12. and the sabres close out the Islanders in 5. Who's next?
  13. I agree with BTTH I would hit the high spot. From what your saying it sounds like it will be the field.
  14. Yeah, I would keep checking both places. Some days the birds will gobble at one property and not another. Another thing I have noticed around here over the years is that when the birds gobble hard one day, more often than not they are very quiet the next. Doesn't mean they wont come in, you just may not here them before you see them.
  15. Heck my town is so small if you put a local persons first and last name on an envelope the post man will deliver it no problem no need for an address
  16. Odds are very slim that it is the only gobbler in the area. He may just be the dominant bird. Once dead, you may very well here many more gobblers. I killed an old bird a couple years ago. I hunted him for 3 years before I finally took him. He was the only bird that would gobble up on the hill for at least 2 years. 2 days after I took him, I was back up there with a buddy and birds were gobbling all over the place. Apparently he would just whoop up on the other birds while he was around, keeping them from being vocal, and keeping most of the hens to himself. Wigs
  17. yup let it walk. If I dont see a beard I dont shoot.
  18. In many states technically you can shoot a bird from the roost. Most hunters don't. I and many others feel it is an unethical way of hunting. But if its legal its legal. I dont like it and I wont hunt with anyone who does it.
