Re: grunt calls one of my hunts with a true talker, I set up in my stand on public land, right on the boundry line of a hunting zone and no hunting, there is a creek that divides it and a hill that goes to about 150 yrds and levels off with a major deer path on the no hunting side.I would see Deer moving through at all hours of the day and when i seen them i would grunt with the true talker.I called in 9 bucks that day to 0 to 20 yrds from my tree.I took a very nice 10 pointer that day and really would have enjoyed just sitting there and seen what else i could have called in.i will have to say that i find the pre rut a key to calling in the bucks with a good call True talker is awesome,Kyhunter

Re: CHAT POLL Hey Buckee, looking at the polls as of right now there still seems to be quite and interest.I know back in the day the chats use to be full almost every night.but than there was a problem with the applet windows i guess not being big enough and everyone kept getting booted. It was modified but it took awhile and in that time alot of people never returned.I think now the problem is people try to use it but find the rooms empty and dont try back. I would think if we gave a time schedule for people to come in that it would bring alot more useage.I would schedule a moderator to be in with the times given to keep it family safe. I know back when i was a mod there were several of us in there at all times and kept it enjoyable. I really like using the chat room as to me it is like a quick reply to the forums. You can go in and talk about whats happening in the forums and it only takes seconds to here a reply. Also just a fast way to communicate about outdoor recreation without posting a thread. just my opinion,Kyhunter

Re: Why We Are At War I very much respect your post,i just wish that it was that easy to look out a window and understand a War. We are a Great Country and Our Soldiers that fight for Us is our family. We all have our opinions on Why We get in the middle of other business. The only thing that is easy to picture looking out our windows is that Our Troops will go where they are asked to go because they are outside looking back in and knowing that Our Familys and neighbors are here Free because they fight so hard for Us, no matter what the task. Goverments have there own reasons for Starting Wars and We are here just trying to Understand it. Kyhunter

Re: Hunting land needed I have the same problem, needing a good and safe place to hunt. I have hunted alot of public land and had alot of success ,but with more farms being turned into development and such there are more people being pushed to the public hunting and with be crowded it becomes more dangerous. I hope to find a farm to lease before long as i have children that is ready to hunt . Good luck kyhunter79 and i like your screen name, lol. The original,KyHunter

Re: Drag rags and Scent trails. Worth it or not? The best scent trail that i can suggest is a rub and scrapeline with some licking branches broke off,and alot of does around.I try to wear boots with no scent,so i cant be detected but only there own natural scent trail. Kyhunter

Re: Got rubs? Havent ever seen any rubs this early myself in Ky,but as hot as it has been lately, the Deer probably try anything to feel cooler, lol. kyhunter

Re: Just realized I am on a Mission!!!! Yes most of us have spent alot of money to stay updated. When actually the most important tool of Hunting cant be bought and that is Experience. You have to learn from mistakes and you have to learn from what your hunting to fit into there habitat .If we could just buy us everything it takes to have a flawless hunt then shoot,we wouldnt be hunting in the first place,we would be just be putting a day in the wild on layaway. Good luck on the long bow hunt,THAT is something i havent tried yet. kyhunter

Re: Help on this question The first thing to check is the limbs for cracks and wear.make sure the string is decent and not frail, does the bow feel comfortable to you, what are the sights, quiver and arrows like?Does it have proper poundage for you? the reasons for the questions,is that if you have to invest more money into it to make it comfortable for you then it might be better to just hold out for something new and with accessories of your choosing. Re: Comments from non deer hunters.... What these people need to Understand is:that at this point in Devolopment and land destruction that you may be actually saving there life.If it wasnt from the hunters managing down the herds for reasons of keeping down diseases, thinning out areas where there alot of road accidents caused by deer crossing,e.t.c .I just wonder if they could imagine what there insurance cost would be if there wasn't any hunting. The thing about those that have never been out in the outdoors just dont understand that they have been missing out on about the only thing in this World that makes sense. Re: What is the largest.... The biggest Deer that i have ever seen scored a 190 and it was on public land.I did not harvest it,but a 16 yr old did about a 1/4 mile from me.I was bow hunting and He just wouldnt come into me.i watched him for a good 10 minutes before He went on his way.He was killed the next Weekend chasing a hot doe. I have several Bucks that go between 130 to 150.i AM ready to break this average, lol.
