  2. Re: Santa, if you read the Realtree forums... No No No, I don't want the girl, I just want the suit. I'm going on a lion hunt, and what better way to attract lions than to dress up like a zebra?
  3. I'll take one of these. I've been really really good all year. (I'm just loving this photobucket thing, its way better than imagestation)
  4. Re: Tommy Thompson\'s an idiot. Honestly, I get ticked when people make comments like his. Sure, its obvious the terrorists have thought of it, but lets just suppose they are too dumb to have. Now they know its easy to get into. Great going. It was probably a last ditch effort to harm Bush in some way shape or form.
  5. Re: pics from my south african hunt Its a good thing we have the guy who's entire account is an ad on spam patrol. I feel relieved.
  6. My uncle, lets just call him R is a pretty "frugal" individual. Rather than getting a fresh tree every year, he bought one. He didn't cut it down, but rather dug it up, and after Christmas was over with, he planted it in the front yard. And every year, he would dig it up, put it in a big washtub, and into the living room it would go. He did this until he had to rent a backhoe to dig the tree up. After 2 years of backhoe renting, he realized its cheaper to go dig up a new tree at the christmas tree farm than to rent a backhoe. So now he has 2 or 3 nice frasier firs in his front yard.
  7. For the past couple of years, I haven't had any interest in hunting. Last year, I didn't hunt at all, didn't even purchase a license. This year, I haven't bought a license again, so therefore haven't hunted. However, since I bought that bow a few weeks ago, something has changed. I'm excited to go hunting again. I have been plotting out things to do with my land to get more and better deer on it, and just generally am excited. I thought for a while I was broken, but I realize that it was my lack of a bow (when I sold my old bow I had outgrown, I lost interest) that has caused me to not want to hunt. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm coming out of the closet so to speak. I'd rather bowhunt than gunhunt. I don't know what the reason is, but it just seems too "easy" to take a deer with a gun. Scent control isn't nearly as important, guessing yardage, so on and so forth, just point and shoot so to speak. True enough getting the deer to be there in the first place is just as hard, but executing the shot is much easier with a gun than a bow, and it loses its fun after a while.

    no sense

Re: no sense Reminds me of when I was little and my dad would take me down to South Georgia to go deer hunting with dogs. All of them were good about coming back except one. He'd disappear for 2 days, 3, one time he was gone for a week. Then one evening, you'd be rounding up the dogs and there he'd be, acting like nothing had happened. Did it for as long as he lived, never learned any better.
  10. So uh, can you eat the monkey? I mean, what sort of weapon do you need to go monkey hunting? A bag and a whistle? lol snipe. J/K. Very beautiful trophies you have there, although Hardwoods does look a little out of place on the african plain. WOW! Its only $50 to go monkey huntin'! Seriously though, a lot of those are cheaper than I would think, or is that just for the tag, doesn't include the actual hunt? P.S. I'm with JB on the monkey being scary. I'd be afraid to touch that thing, but then again, I'm afraid to touch a deer until I've given it a good poke or two to verify its as dead as it looks.
  11. Re: My thoughts on Swarovski scopes. How about yours? You get what you pay for. My BAR has a leupold vari-x III 3.5-10x50, and my 710 has the Bushnell. The difference is night and day. My .30/30 has a $30 Tasco 4x I got from walmart. We won't even compare the picture quality of that to the Leupold.
  12. Re: Bah Humbug Bush? Its fake, and it never gets taken down. Just unplug it and slide it in the closet. Sooo much easier.
  13. Re: Gun for Son Rather than a .243, I'd suggest something like a .308 or a .30/30. I think the .243 is a bit on the small side for a young, inexperienced hunter.
  14. Re: Remington 11-87 value Matte wood, matte finish, full, imp cylinder, and modified chokes. 28 inch barrel
  15. Accidently posted this in the rifle forum...my friend wants to buy mine. Its in good condition, will hold 3 inch shells. Any idea as to value?
  16. Re: **Jeff Gordon Hospitalized!** The Race of Champions is awesome. It pits drivers from different series around the world in different cars against each other. Rally cars to road racing. Its very cool. I believe they show it on speed in January or February.
  17. Anyone here use a pendelum sight? I just got a new bow, which came with a fiber optic sight, which is what I have used in the past, but one of my friends has been talking about his Keller and says he likes it better than the fiber optics because it takes all the guesswork out of shooting. Im a bit worried about buying one because of the cost (like $50), but if you guys think its worth it, I may try it. I'm also considering shooting his bow to see how I like it.
  18. Re: Found my first post on Realtree!! I wonder if my first post is still around? I shall return with results Hmm, I can't search over 6 months, whats that all about?

    NRA

Re: NRA I am not a member because I don't like the scare tactics they use. "OMG! THEY ARE BANNING GUNS IN ENGLAND! IF YOU DON'T SEND US $30 THEY ARE GOING TO DO IT HERE!!!!!!1111one" I feel the same for any group that uses scare tactics. I am for what the NRA does, but against how they go about doing it. I'm pretty sure that probably not even a penny of every dollar goes to actual efforts. It mostly ends up paying people like Wayne LaPierre. They should change their ads to: "OMG!! CHRISTMAS IS COMING AND WE NEED MONEY TO GIVE WAYNE LAPIERRE HIS BIG FAT BONUS CHECK!!! SEND US $30 OR WE WON'T BE ABLE TO PAY HIM AND GIVE HIM A HUGE RAISE NEXT YEAR. OH YEAH, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR GUNS TOO!!!!!!"
  20. Re: A Nation Secure Here's an idea...why not make it legal for illegal immigrants to work in America, but illegal to pay them less than their American counterpart would make?
  21. Re: In Oklahoma, Ban on Guns...State vs. Big Firms [ QUOTE ] My work has the right and does enforce it very much! We are not allowed to keep any guns in our cars or trucks! We had a break in a few years ago, a guys handgun was stolen. They fired him! Because he was not supposed to have a gun on work property! [/ QUOTE ] And that's why the policy is there. This wouldn't be too far fetched a situation in todays society, but lets suppose the thief stole the gun then killed several people at your place of work. After said event, the family of several of the victims sues the company for allowing the gun to be on the property in the first place. Personally, I wish we didn't have to worry about these types of scenarios, but we do, and not much will change it. I remember my friend's dad talking about going hunting before school started, and after it got out, and just carrying their rifle in the truck with them to school, and leaving it there. Nowadays, the student would be arrested for such an action.
  22. Re: Bear Buckmasters BTR A question for you guys, when selecting an arrow, howlong does it need to be compared to your draw length? For instance, my draw length is set at 29 inches. What should my arrow length be, at a minimum?
  23. Anyone ever used one for deer? What about the .444 marlin? The more I read about big bores, the more I'd like to own one. I've heard they actually do less damage to meat than smaller, faster moving cartridges, but I've never seen two deer to compare.
  24. I picked one up at Wal-Mart today for $139 on clearance. Sounded like a good deal to me because it came with a quiver (2 piece and a one piece, which was supposed to come with the BTR pro, but when I got home and opened it it had both), arrow rest, peep sight, string loop, 3 pin fiber optic sight, and some other stuff. How'd I do? They had the BTR pro for $199, but I figured the regular BTR would be all I need for deer.
