  1. Re: The Saga of James Bond 003 Another great bird, hunt and story. Way to go Redbeard!
  2. Re: A buddy\'s first bird What a great hunt, and with a bow to boot on his birthday! Congrats!
  3. Re: Patterned the shotguns yesterday.. *pics* Joe for the 20 gauge you might want to check out a tight wad choke and feed it some hevishot. My daughters 870 20 gauuge is now good out to 40 yards averaging 15 bone hits with the Rem #6 Hevishot. I wasn't able to find the Hevi 13 version but guys are getting good results there as well. With lead she was getting a good killing pattern out to 35 yards with a hastings .566 turkey choke and Federal #6 shot. The 20 hits as hard as the 12 gauge if you find a choke that will keep the smaller shot charge clustererd tight enough. Good Luck this spring.
  4. Re: My first turkey Very nice! Every bird is a trophy! Seems like there's alot of folks scoring!
  5. Re: Michelle\'s first turkeys Nice birds who ever she is.
  6. Re: Great Oklahoma opener! Very nice bird there Shane!
  7. Re: Youth season success!!!! Congrats on a great hunt for you and your daughters!
  8. Re: 71 year old downs turkey in OK....good story Way to go! There will be lots of opening days. But to do something like this only comes around a few times. What a great day it must have been for you both. Congrats!
  9. Re: Will they be back? The birds will likely still be there. They have a pretty short memory. Just try a different set up just to be safe.
  10. Re: Nebraska Hunting Trip *Pictures* Sounds like a great time! Those birds are tough.

Re: 2 More!!! Way to go!
  12. Re: Rain due on opener for okies!!!! Rains not bad. Actually makes the birds even more predictable in their movements. Hit the fields, pastures and logging roads. Wind sure makes them more spooky though. Good Luck guys!
  13. Re: First bird of the year. Nice!!!!! Sounds like a great hunt. I still have 9 days until I get a chance. Your story definitely stoked the fire a bit more.
  14. Re: HEAVYSHOT? Stick, I have the stoeger 2000 and have had great results with the Comp n choke XXXfull paired with the Federal FC #5 shot. Stoeger uses the berretta/benelli choke system. I plan to throw some Fed HW through the full choke if I can find some of their #7 shot loads. I may also use the Win ext range in my Comp n choke if I have time.
  15. Re: tight wad I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm just saying that the likihood of lost bird rises dramaticly and that I don't personally recommend it.
  16. Re: tight wad Like Strut said you need 1.6-1.8 foot lbs per pellet to penetrate bone on a turkey. With #6 lead you get 35-40 yards before you fall below that number depending on the muzzle velocity your load has.
  17. Re: 2006 RT Forum Turkey Contest Teams & Scores Doesn't add anything to your score. However, there is prize for the highest scoring youth bird in addition to the team competition.
  18. Re: First bird Way to go!
  19. Re: Found Another Dumb One! You're really putting a hurt on those southern birds! Way to go!
  20. Re: First bird of the year!! Congrats. A great bird for the table.
  21. Re: Finally some success (pics) Great story and hunt! I bet your doctor's idea of taking it easy is just a little different than yours.
  22. Re: **Triple death in Illinois***** What a fantastic day for the kids! I'm sure they'll be retelling the story for years.
  23. Re: My April fools bird Sweet! I'm sure you'll take it easy on your buddy.
  24. Re: 2006 RT Forum\'s Turkey Contest Photo Thread Congrats!
