  1. Look at Martin being all sly, not even telling you he punched points already. Granted we all know when the Wisc opener hits a doe better not walk in front of the man! nice job my man!
  2. William we would love to have you! I like those prospects as well!
  3. Dang Frank that sucks to lose one. Might get lucky and have him show back up. I’ve seen a few instances of wounded deer being harvested later on. I’ve even killed two big bucks that were previously wounded. One was 30 days later and the other was 2 weeks later. On another note, I did a hang & hunt on a new property and it was one of the best nights I’ve ever had. I never drew the bow but did see multiple 4.5+ bucks and passed one of them inside 10 steps. Amazing what weather can do when it gets right early in the year.
  4. Welcome friends! Things are good here in Indiana. Already shot a doe, but didn’t take pics to check in for the contest. She was a big girl, dressing at 132lbs. We will see what bucks start showing up to fill out my target list.
  5. Yep this thread has my attention!! Awesome new buck, he would have me excited as well. Can’t wait to hear how it plays out.
  6. Nice, we are off and running here in Indiana as well. My dad, daughter and I all have does so far. Now we just need the mature deer to cooperate a little better!
  7. Awesome bucks Al, that missouri farm is pretty sweet!
  8. If he’s truly 3.5 you have a superstar on your hands and I’d gamble with a pass. Its extremely rare that anyone gets the opportunity to hunt a deer with 200 potential. My rationale is that you mentioned he wouldn’t be your largest buck, so that cracks the door for the potential pass. Now on the other side, I’m also wondering about his age as I’d put him at 4.5 this year based on those limited pictures, but you certainly know better since he’s in your farm. Either way it goes it’s fun to have animals like that roaming your property!
  9. Should we consider two teams of 4 or three teams of 3? I’m a fan of bigger, fewer teams in this scenario. Interested in everyone’s thoughts.
  10. Frank, that’s a darn good 3.5 year old. I feel your pain on neighbors killing them, had very similar 3.5 year old get whacked by my neighbors 5 years ago. He went 153 and change with no mass and 21 inch beams. Even though it’s tough to pass, that’s a deer who could absolutely blow up next year. My personal rule is that anything under 4 gets passed unless he will become my biggest buck. definitely exciting to see!

    Sitka Gear

I have the equinox, stratus and fanatic sets along with the base layers. I absolutely love how the camo was designed for Bowhunting and how everything fits together. It is very expensive, but we’ll worth it if you are more than a weekend warrior. The stratus should be the set that nearly everyone buys first. I’ve worn the stratus at 60 degrees all the way down to mid 20’s with layering the equinox midi pant and top along with the heavy base layer bottom and fanatic hoodie. The stratus gloves are amazing as well. I have the fanatic and have o it worn it twice in two years. Now that’s partially because I also utilize box blinds in the late season with a heater instead of stands. fYI, kuiu was started after one of Sitka original owners split off. Great camo, but more suited for out west hunting IMO.
  12. I think my season has wrapped up. I went out last night and took a big doe. If I get out again it will be the last day of season on the 31st.
  13. The bucks are starting to shed now. I’ll probably get out a time or two this week, but slim chance that something shows up.
  14. Absolutely amazing how new people that move out into the country just assume they can go wherever they want on property they didn’t buy without asking permission. We battle this every darn time when someone new moves into the neighborhood. I have to imagine they wouldn’t like to very much if I started driving my ranger through their yard for fun, yet somehow it’s ok for them to take nature walks through my place. My warning was that I’m visiting with them this time, if it happens again my law enforcement friends will handle it from here on out. So this all leads to why the deer are so darn nocturnal. They keep getting messed with in areas where no one should be!
  15. Wow, you still have a lot of season left. I went out earlier this week and saw one new buck that’s likely 4.5, but we are going to give him another year to see what happens.
  16. I took my oldest daughter out on Monday to sit over some standing beans. We had an awesome sit and she got to see a tremendous amount of deer. No shooters stepped out, but it was a blast as they were coming from every direction and she was very excited about that. We might try it again later this week when the temps drop again.
  17. Nothing new to report. Statewide closes tomorrow so I’ll be focused on urban from here on out. Still nothing showing up, but cold temps are moving in so we will see who comes to visit.
  18. Finally back in a stand hunting this cold front over some standing crops. Nothing on camera just taking a flyer that something new might show up.
  19. How’s the season going partner? I haven’t been out much, still waiting for something worthwhile to show up…..

  21. Congrats Al, very nice buck! You guys always seem to find success on the missouri farm.
  22. Slow week. Unfortunately the neighbors wounded a good buck two days ago. We tracked him for nearly 2.5 miles with a tracking dog and finding blood the whole way. At the end of the track he popped out of the corn at 400 yards tailing a doe. That was enough of a signal that he isn’t mortally wounded right now. Unfortunately who knows whether he can survive long term after being shot in an extremity with a 20 gauge slug. I’m headed out tonight, but not expecting too much. More just looking to get back in a stand after not sitting for nearly a week.
  23. Opening weekend was fun. I got to lay eyes of a few good 3 year olds, but not any target deer. I’ll get out a few times this week, just not sure which days yet. It’s about to get real tough as our deer climb into the bunker when the guns start booming.
