Re: Barbara Boxer...
This was about money and appealing to her Dem base to get donations, nothing more. She was just elected for 6 more years, by two million votes, and has one of the safest seats in the senate so she is speaking up.

BOXER LAUNCHES FUNDRAISING DRIVE
Tue Jan 25 2005 22:03:11 ET
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) took her opposition to Condoleezza Rice to a new front: She has used it in a fundraising pitch to Democratic donors.
The pitch went out Tuesday evening. On behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Boxer referred to Rice’s “misleading statements leading up to the war in Iraq and beyond,” and implored donors to “put the brakes on four more years of misdirection in Iraq and reckless policies at home” by helping elect more Democrats next year.
ROLL CALL details the money drive: “My Democratic colleagues and I will hold the Bush administration accountable for its decisions,” Boxer wrote. “But we will need your help to hold them accountable in the ultimate public hearing: the next midterm elections in 2006...
“So while I raise my voice on the Senate floor, I hope you will join us on the campaign trail and send the loudest message of all — one that the Republicans will not be able to ignore — unseating them in the midterm elections and sending more Democrats to the Senate.”

Re: Farenheit 9/11 gets 0 Oscar nominations...
F911 probably would have won several for documentaries but Moore took it out of those categories in order for it to have a better chance for picture of the year. Look what happens when you get greedy.
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050125/D87RAV2G0.html :
"Moore decided against entering "Fahrenheit 9/11" in the documentary category to boost its prospects for best-picture and other categories, but the film failed to earn any nominations."

Re: Tutorial book(s)
You can also do a search on Amazon or on ebay for Studio 9 and it should bring up some books and videos.

Re: ??????
Once deleted from the photo host site, they are gone from all the posts they were in because the picture address in each post points back to where the picture used to be. When it goes to load the picture it will not find it. If you are still seeing pictures in your post that you thought you deleted they might not have actually been deleted or perhaps they are still in your computers memory so they are still showing up on your computer.

Re: good watch dog
If you are looking for a dog that your wife will feel safe with a Rottweiler is hard to beat. They are also very nice dogs when properly raised, trained, and socialized.

Re: Photo host ???
The check box is for mods only, non-mods have to use the "my profile" link. I made the same mistake myself telling someone about check box only to find out they couldn't see it.
-
Re: Photo host ???
Go to "my Profile" then to "manage photos" then choose the category that the pic you want to delete is in. When you select a category it will bring up all the pics in that category. Click "delete" next to each photo in the category that you want to remove and hit "submit changes".

Re: Video Editing software
I have never used uleads software but I found a review or two on it. I have used the pinnacle studio family of products for several years and it works great for what I need it to do.

Re: Pic-Posting ?????
JJL,
I was a bit bored tonight and decided to try and whip a little something together that might help you out (after I couldn't find it on the net already). I have tried to make a picture tutorial with directions that goes through the entire resizing process from opening the picture to saving it. I used Microsoft Paint since all Windows XP users should have it. If you want to try it you can let me know if I forgot anything or it is not clear enough. CLICK HERE to start and follow the links at the bottom of each page. There are four pages total. I tried to make it for someone who basicially knows nothing, but I might have forgotten something. Let me know what you think. If it works I might be able to do the same for uploading if you need it.
-
Re: Pic-Posting ?????
If you have raw pictures saved directly from your camera you will first have to resize them or they will be way to big. What operating system are you running (Windows XP, Windows ME, MAC, etc...) and what paint or image editing program are you running (Microsoft Paint, Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop, etc...)? Most recent versions of any Microsoft Windows come with MS Paint installed. We'll take it step by step starting where you first need help. After we get it resized we can move on to uploading the picture.

Re: Editing mini dvd-r disks? Can it be done?
Apparently these cams make ready to use dvd's they don't just encode to mpeg2. VOB can be turned back into avi or mpeg2 with the right program. I have included a couple of links that I found but have not used any of the products mentioned. You might also do a google search for "vob to avi" or "vob to mpeg2." Some cost money some are freeware. I would do the vob to avi if I was going to mess with it.

http://www.allformp3.com/dvd-copy-software/vob-to-avi.htm
I like studio8, I have always thought for the money it was hard to beat. I don't have a need for the more expensive programs so it works well for me.
-
Re: Editing mini dvd-r disks? Can it be done?
I am pretty sure they record as MPEG2 files, not avi. AVI is a much more edit friendly format but MPEG2 can be edited with the right program. I have studio8 that is supposed to be able to edit MPEG files but I have never tried it. Do a google search for MPEG2 editing and you should be able to find something.

Re: Digital Video Camera
My 3 year old Sony digital8 has the mic and headphone jacks (I have never used them), but it looks like most of the new ones don't. The video quality should be fine for posting in the web, but for home movies and such most are moving to miniDV. If you want digital8 you are pretty much stuck with sony. There are a lot of miniDV options out there and I would probably go with that if money isn't too tight. Some minidv cams are under $600 to $800, when I bought my D8 it was $1000. I have been happy with my d8 cam, but my next one will be miniDV.

Re: Any Pinnacle Studio version 9 Users Here
Studio is probably finalizing the DVD for playing in a set top dvd player, once this is done you can't add anything to it. I don't know of a way to change that setting in studio, but have never tried to either. You will have a better chance in Nero, but it will depend on the version. I am not sure it will work to add video as another project on the dvd. I think the .ifo and .bup files have to match the .vob files or it will not play properly. Adding more video (.vob files) without reauthoring the original .ifo and .bup files will not work. Please note I am not an expert, this is just what I think, perhaps someone else will know how to do it, but I don't think it can be done. Your best bet is to not burn the dvd until you have enough to fill the disk.

Re: FireWire?
Regular firewire (iLink, IEEE 1394) is faster than USB 1.0, but not as fast as USB 2.0. There is now Firewire 800 that is faster than USB 2.0. If the camera as a firewire port you will need a firewire port on your PC. If it is not built in, you will need to install a PCI firewire card. It is pretty easy to do and some video editing packages come with one included if you are going that route.

Re: Question about posting pics...
Some people (like me for instance) have web pages where they pay to have server space for their sites and can upload pics there. I pay $12 a month for my goschkennels.com domain name, 2000 MB of server space, and 25000 mb of bandwith. I can upload just about any file type to my web site and post the pics here. So they do get uploaded to the web but since I pay for the space, there is no little tag on the pics. Free sites use the tag for advertising to draw people back to the free site.

Re: Favorite Digi Cam
I have a Trailmac digital and it works OK but if I got another one I would get the Leaf River or get one made by vman on iowawhitetails.com. Just because a camera is expensive doesn't mean its better.

Re: picture question?
You can resize using paint or a similar program or you can download the jpeg resizer if you don't have paint. Paint or a similar program would be easiest, but the resizer seems to work OK.

How do I upload multiple photos to the Realtree Photo Post Site?
Please pay special attention to the NOTES in this section
- Login to your Realtree Photo Post site account if you are not already.

- Follow the same steps above to upload your next photo. When you select the "Upload/Submit" button it will again take you to the further info page but this time it will show all the photos you have uploaded so far. Repeat these steps until you have uploaded all the photos that you want and your further info page has all of your photos listed.
- Now that you have all of your photos listed on the further info page you need to fill in the necessary info FOR EACH PHOTO.
NOTE: The reason we wait until all the photos are uploaded to put in all the further info is that when you upload multiple files, everytime you add another file to your list it resets the photo information of the pictures before it. That means you'ld end up doing everything over anyway.
- For each photo select the most appropriate category
NOTE: The Realtree Picture Post site is monitored by the Moderators from the Realtree.com forums. We view these photos for content to make sure they are suited for a family oriented site. For the record I'm talking about Iowa regs since Horst and I are from Iowa. I have no idea about Michigans regs.

The late ML season is statewide, public or private ground. The zones only apply to non-residents, unless you are talking about county specific anterless tags.

Re: Phesant shot?
12 ga 2 3/4" 5 shot with 3 3/4 dram equiv. is my favorite load. 3" mag 2 or 4 shot in steel if I have to use non-toxic.

This is my brothers first deer ever, a nice 8 point. It was taken out of a blind with a muzzleloader. It took a long time but he finally downed one on his own. I misjudged the distance, but he still dropped it in his tracks. When it was ranged it turned out to be a 140 yard shot!
