  1. I got the same exact bow only in 50lbs. Big difference between that and my compound...
  2. No one else with any experience using them?
  3. Congrats!! Your almost there! The finish line is in sight...
  4. 140 gr. bullet and it was a factory load. I didn't even think of talking to Nosler, maybe I'll send them an email later. Ballistics can be seen here: http://www.winchester.com/products/catalog/cfrdetail.aspx?symbol=S270CT&bn=5&type=31
  5. I've been using this bullet for deer the past two years and I think this year will be the last. This past Saturday I shot a doe at 40 yds in the heart with my .270 and the bullet literally exploded upon impact. It blew a entrance hole bigger than my fist so she didnt go far but in my eyes that bullet failed to do its job correctly. Last year I shot a doe at about 125yds and had excellent results as the bullet passed through and the doe took 2 steps. My dad was also using these bullets last year and he won't use them anymore either because he says they explode too. So whats the deal? Is the fact they are coming out at 3000fps and short ranges, is that the problem? Longer ranges seem to be fine? Anyone else with any experience using these? I bought a box of Winchester XP3's earlier this year to try. Am I going to have the same results? Should I go with something like the Nosler Partitions? Barnes Triple Shock? Sierra Gamekings?
  6. Well it sure ain't for his looks... Happy Anniversary!!
  7. Agree with Adjam5. .22 cricket is the way to go. Use some of the Christmas money you get and buy yourself the .17
  8. Whats the furthest you've had to drag a deer out of the woods? And I don't mean behind your ATV either. For me its maybe a 1/4 mile. I'm very fortunate where I hunt that its very accessible and normally drive fairly close so dragging is minimal. So whats your furthest drag and how long did it take?
  9. First thing that came to my mind was.....BOOOOOO!!!
  10. Groundhogs do to... Darn things ate the ones I planted this year...

  14. I saw it. So your not crazy, unless we both are... I was gonna circle it in paint but you beat me to it..
  15. Thats a good idea. Will a little creativeness and ingenuity I bet you could make a sweet looking blind!
  16. I'm the exact opposite. I won't shoot the cheap stuff in hunting situations. First year of hunting with a rifle I was using a .270 shooting Federal softpoints. I shot a doe at 125 yds right through the boiler room. She ended up running another 100yds before going down. Upon inspection that bullet hit her and fragmented and didn't exit. IMO bullet performance like that is unacceptable so I've used premium ammo since and have had excellent results since. As for it being more expensive, I use maybe 5 shots a year...a couple to check the sight in and then whatever shooting I happen to do during the season. So that box of ammo last me 4 or 5 years totaling $10 a year. I spend so much money each year on hunting I figure whats a few more dollars... JMO btw
  17. I don't think anyone was expecting a blow out like that. Shame too, I was hoping for a good game...
  18. You'd be foolish to pull all you have out now. If you have any idea of what your doing, now is the time to buy! It will go back up...guaranteed.
  19. Good luck and hope you packed (or bought) some long johns, you'll need them...
  20. Beautiful pictures and Congrats!! One question. Why all the downed timber?
