  1. Thought that's what church was for!
  2. What did you expect? We have set around with our preverbal "thumbs up our butts" for years now and have allowed our education systems to teach that all these things are good. We've allowed the television to become our baby-sitters where all of these things are "good". We've allowed governments to dictate to the masses how we should be when it should be the masses dictating to governmnets! And then we stand back and wonder to ourselves, "what the **** went wrong?" To quote a line in a movie I once I saw, this can pretty much sum things up. "They call this war a cloud over the land. But they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say '****, it's raining!'"
  3. Amazing? Anything coming out of the mouth of “The Race King” is mostly stupid. In fact most blacks when it comes to racism are idiots. This on top of a black city councilman in some Texas town that got into a brawl because he was offended by a white person for referring to money being spent as going into a “Black Hole”. And it appears that our African-American friends have found yet something else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman (this would be Sheila Jackson Lee, of Houston ), reportedly complained that the names of hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names. She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal. I am NOT making this up! She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in 'language' that street people can understand because one of the problems that happened in New Orleans was, that black people couldn't understand the seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the weather report. I guess if the weather person says that the winds are going to blow at 140+ MPH, that's too hard to understand.
  4. Mine is very simular to Vermont's recipe. Cup Worcestershire Sauce Cup Soy Sauce 1 Tablespoon taco sauce or salsa 1-Tablespoon Liquid Smoke 1 Teaspoon onion powder 1 Teaspoon garlic powder Black Pepper to taste Marinade at least over night, you can dehydrate it or hang in the oven at 150 degrees for about 8 hours. Then enjoy
  5. $300.00? If it was left handed I'd scoop it up real quick.
  6. And your opinion is the only one that counts around here? Is it only permissable to ask a religious question in church? Is it only permissable to ask a hunting question while hunting? Is it only permissable to ask a question about your jon only at your place of work? Obviously no to all the above and hopefully the lounge will never be "free of it" referring to religion or we'll all doomed.
  7. Ok first things first, I’m not going to get into any pissing contest with anyone here, you asked a question and I’m answering it. If you don’t like it, then don’t ask me another one because you’ll probably not like that one either! Does the Bible designate December 25th as the birth date of Christ? Not that I’ve ever seen but you’ve got to ask yourself this, is setting a day aside every year to celebrate the birth of Christ a good thing or a bad thing? I think it’s a good thing and it could be Dec. 25th or July 1st and I wouldn’t care, I would still celebrate it. So your kid believes in Santa, big deal. You and your family have sucumb to the commercialization of Christmas, no it’s not a sin. To shower your kids with a whole lot of stuff that they don’t need or want could in some cultures border on greed or gluttony, which do fall under the seven deadly sins as listed by the Roman Catholic Church. I’m not Catholic however. Now as far a lying goes, The Old Testament and New Testament of the Bible both contain statements that God cannot lie and adds that God hates a lying tongue and forbids men to lie. But what exactly is a “lie” anyway? Webster’s defines it as type of deception in the form of an untruthful statement with the intention to deceive, often with the further intention to maintain a secret or reputation, or to avoid punishment. Is telling your child a story about Santa Claus truly trying to deceive your child into believing something that’s not true? Kind of depends on whether you tell them the truth at some point which would lead others to believe that some times telling a lie if justified. The best example I can find of this is below In the New Testament, Jesus refers to the Devil as the father of lies (John 8:44) and Paul commands "Do not lie to one another" (Colossians 3:9, Cf.Leviticus 19:11). Jesus would seem to tell a lie to the Apostles in John 7:8-10, when He says "Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come," but then later on goes up to attend the same festival. Schopenhauer, in On the Basis of Morality, §17, asserted that lying is permissible at times, quoting this as an example. It is however consistent with the context that Jesus simply changed his mind, deciding only later on to go up to the festival. The Acts of the Apostles tells the story of Ananias and his wife Sapphira, who were killed for trying to lie to God. While some see these examples as support for the idea that lying can be justifiable as the lesser of two evils, others disagree, arguing that the correct Biblical response is to pray that God will provide a way to avoid the greater evil without lying. Yeah, I’m pretty confused also. So here’s the deal. It makes no difference what you believe and what I believe and what denomination we believe it to be under. The day Christians stop celebrating the birth of Christ is the day I concert to some other religion. And in the end, each man is only responsible for his actions and will only be help accountable for his actions. Out of everything evil I could do, I don’t believe celebrating Christmas or giving a 5 year old gifts under the name Santa is going to tick God off too much. It’s all the other crap I do or could do that’s really going to piss him off!

    Best Anti-Spyware?

Spybot and Adaware are good, good enough to clean out most spyware programs and running them from time to time is a good idea. What I would suggest is getting yourself a good firewall to start with and that will eliminate a lot of problems before they become problems. I use Zone Alarm (purchased and not the free version) however the free isn't bad. I've never talked to anyone that had anything negative to say about it. Install it and your firewall will block all intrusions unless you've specified it as a trusted site. So unless Microsoft starts sending malware out as updates, you've fairly safe! Good luck
  9. Actually, this is an "Urban Myth" for the most part - no known origin or facts to rebut it or to confirm it. But as it’s told, as the case made it's way into court, the judge looked over the paperwork at the hearing and commented, "I don't know how I'm going to decide this, but as it appears from the paper work, we have a bar owner that believes in the power of prayer, and an entire church congregation that doesn't. Simply stated – by the congregation denial of having “anything” to do with it, wouldn’t they indeed be confessing to not believing in prayer? I mean, if you prayed for rain during a drought and it finally did rain, has your prayer been answered or is it simply an act of God? If you’re answer is it’s simply an act of God, then do you really believe in the power of prayer? If you said “your prayers have been answered, then you admit to asking for it to happen and believing it would. Now where the heck am I going with this? Well, in a society today that is all to willing to slap a law suit on anyone or anything, can you see this actually happening? Further more, if it did and it happened to you, would you be willing to admit you prayed for it and it came true – making you somewhat responsible for the damages? Please – do not answer that question here, I don’t know and I don’t care – to each his own and should remain his own. All this was is just something to ponder – more like the chicken and the egg thing.
  10. Check this out - an online survey (from consumers) on tires - it may be of help http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/index.jsp
  11. I talked to my brother-in-law over the weekend and he has a 2006 4-Runner and told me he'll be doing good to get 30k out of his tires. This is SAD! My 2003 Tahoe Z71 has the original tires on it and I'm just about to turn 70k....don't get me wrong, they need replacing and I'll replace them sometime this month but guys, I got double what y'all did. I'll be replacing them with the same thing that's on it - Goodyear Wranglers. They are about the most expensive but if you can get that mileage out 'em.....it's a no-brainer.

    Cell Phones

I've had Cingular/AT&T now for 4 years - can't really complain about them. I travel and the coverage is great.
  13. A couple of ways to look at this - you're young and opportunities DO come along everyday, you just have to be looking for them and be ready to act when they do. I'm unsure where you're at on the moving part - you sound like you don't want to leave but then say you could transfer to a better spot "more preferable". To me, this sounds like you're not that opposed to moving after all so we can elimate this from the decission making process. You just signed a lease - how much is it going to cost you to get out of your lease? Does it make sense to move or stay now? What's the cost of living like where you would moving? Does a 500.00 a month lease where you're at today cost you 600.00 there? Is gas prices higher/lower? You have to look at everything because remember, we're only talking about 40.00 a day increase - commute distances, higher prices in living expenses can eat up that 40.00 real quick. How does April feel about this? Is she going to give up her life where she is to go with you? If she's not willing, are you willing to go on without her? Fearful of working with this team? This is an excuse used by all. Fear is the biggest culprit when making life changing decissions. You must get past this fear or you'll never be able to make decissions like this. It's a personal decission Brad - it really makes no difference what we would do because each of us has a completely different agenda in life. Some of us work the corporate ladder and make moves that take us from town to town and state to state. Other choose to live their lives exactly where they've always been, it's less stressful and more secure this way. Myself, I started down the corporate ladder route and have movedseveral times. Today, I'm still in the corporate world but have slowed down now, passing up better positions for sake of family, friends and where I live today. Only you can answer what route you are most suited for. But if you're comfortable where you're at - comfort can over come money issues really qucikly while more money sometimes doesn't ease the pains or make life more comfortable. Things to think about - best of luck on whatever route you go
  14. First I was wondering exactly where we needed to put this thread – The Lounge maybe but I can see it getting moved to another forum because some of the moderators up there don’t have the capability to think very deep much less debate something. I was going to put it in the Political Forum but it’s not really political material and I really didn’t want to put it here in the Spiritual Camp because I didn’t’ want someone getting their thong in a wad and bringing down a sermon on me but hey, it fits here more than anywhere. Hypothetical Situation Someone decides to build a Bar in some town USA and while building this Bar he generates the interest of the local church. The church members begin to picket the building site with all kinds of signs and literature about how drinking is wrong (probably a Baptist church) and that the members along with the rest of the township need to pray that the Bar doesn’t get built. Low and behold, a few weeks before the grand opening, a lighting bolt strikes the establishment and it burns to the ground and the church members rejoice and are smug about the whole thing until the bar owner sued the church, saying that the church was either directly or indirectly responsible for his building being burned down. Debate time If the church denies any responsibility, are they confessing that they have no belief in prayer? Since the Bar owner did sue citing that the church was responsible, is he confessing that he does believe in prayer? Ok so let’s end this with one general understanding – this is something to debate, something to lightly discuss and nothing that you or I need to get our panties in a wad about. No, I didn’t really mean that the moderators didn’t know how to debate and no, I’m not taking a jab at the Baptist either. All I’m doing is trying to get past copy and paste threads that no one really responds to. Y'all have a nice day.... PH
  15. **** yes they should BE EXPECTED TO INVEST IN ALTERNATIVE ENERGIES! And now I'll tell you why Duke Power won a law suit against an individual that had installed a wind-mill on his property and was subsidizing his energy use by using this wind mill. Duke suid and won the case and the guy had to shut down his operation so if the our magnificiant judical system will allow them to stop us, then should be held liable for developing newer technologies. You can still see the windmill if you're in or around Charlotte, NC Honestly - I think people should demand it and when they balk - execute a few executives - you can bet then next ones will do something. yes - I said execute them - no, I'mnot out of my mind, just tired of all the BS we allow.
  16. Good letter but you don't need to be eating that crap anyway - it'll make you fat!!!
  17. The truth of the matter is, this world is full of idiots and probably always will be.
  18. http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-guru9jul09,0,3671214.story?coll=la-home-center So everything us Republicans have known for years and have been trying to tell you democrats has now been proven.....and proven by one of the democrats own. Seems the democrats hired a professor, Dr. Drew Westen as their latest advisor and what has the good professor come up with? Democrats should try and appeal to people's emotions, rather than bogging them down with data and facts. EXACTLY WHAT WE'VE ALWAYS KNOWN - Democrats play to emotions rather than real data or facts!!!! From the article, it sounds like Professor Westen is telling democrats that their constituents are idiots and he is telling democrats to appeal to constituents' emotions because "it doesn't make sense to argue an issue using facts and figures". There you have it - one of their own telling the world that democrats can't comprehend data, facts or figures - just tell them something that makes them feel all warm and fuzzy....
  19. I don't know Steve - seems like this one just reaks of stupidity.
  20. In Washington it does...
  21. Well, it was in Alabama - that should explain a lot.
  22. You can equate this to shooting marbles?
  23. Re: New Warning! It can only scream racism if you're a racist and belive it. Otherwise you treat it just like any other piece of trivial garbage. You laugh at it and toss it away.... And no Buckee, I'm not calling you a racist. Racism can only exsist if people continue to bring it up and revive it. Why do you think blacks continually bring it up?
