Re: End of the Pepsi 400. Don't get me wrong, I thought Jr.'s fine was stupid and un-called-for however it put teams on notice that NASCAR was no longer going to look the other way based on who you were and how popular you were.

Re: End of the Pepsi 400. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] If you don't think NASCAR has complete control of who, what, where and when by now then you're just plain slow. The only thing they don't control is when and where Michael Waltrip is going to slap the wall....other than that, they push the buttons and we watch it. [/ QUOTE ] I guess I am slow because I still do not think Nascar controls what happens on the track. I think it is just BS when people say that (I am not just pointing fingers at you, but as a whole to all that say it). Would nascar really make accidents happen that hurt and even kill people. Nascar does not control the cars and where they end up, they can't, it just does not seem possible. The only thing they can control that they play favorites with it seems is fines and point deductions. IMO [/ QUOTE ] I never said Nascar made accidents happen and never will, that’s ridiculous. I stated that Nascar wanted to control everything and one only has to look at the 250 race to really see Nascar in control. Jr. has a 10 second lead after pit stops and whoa and behold, here comes the caution for the fictional “debris” on the track. The only debris on the track was the carnage Dale Jr. was leaving in his wake. Look at Indy a few years ago. Dale Jarrett runs out of gas during green flag pit stops – stalls on the track and Nascar “with the safety for the drivers coming first” decides that in the best interest to ratings, they can’t have half the field a lap down so they left Jarrett out there waiting for someone to come along and cream him OR until everyone had made their pit stops to throw the yellow. Bobby Labonte won Pocono several years ago in one of the most dominating performances seen in years. At the end of the race he had a full straight-a-way lead over the competition and in the post-race interview he commented that Nascar was “screaming” at him to slow down. Now you tell me why Nascar would want him slow down? Ratings. Car of the future? Nascar’s search for parity rivals Lewis and Clarks search for the Pacific coast. Nascar wants to control the look and feel of the race and the manufacturers so much that in the next few years, you won’t be able to tell the difference in a Chevy, a Ford, a Dodge or a Toyota. If you fork out enough money, Yugo can put a car on the track and have it look just like a Monte Carlo. Again, one more thing that Nascar wants to control. The single most dramatic thing that brought Nascar into the lime-light was not a race but what happened after that race. The fight between the Allison’s and Cale on national television launched this sport in more ways than any P.R. promotion could have and today you’ve got Nascar trying to control drivers to the point that if they give another driver the old “number 1” out the window, you’re hauled off to the sanctuary to receive your punishment. Say one thing out of line and you’re outta here or your less heavy in the pocket. Make one wrong move on the track and you’re sitting in the pits. Do you realize that if they would have held Dale Sr. a lap for every time he got into the back of someone he may have never won a Championship! But then again, Nascar in the 80’s was just coming into the controlling era. It was actually a lot more fun to watch back then and put more emphasis on the drivers and the cars unlike today where the cars are no longer a factor. I’ll agree with you on the points deductions and fines to a point. In the past it did seem like Nascar had their select “poster children” that were protected to a degree however that seems to have caught up with them. Fining Dale Jr and hitting him with a 25 point deduction for the ever-dreaded “S” word on national television was a hugh step. When was the last time you heard of a Hendrix team getting fined to the point the a popular crew chief was booted for 4 races? Yes, this year and it seems to be getting better. Now if they would just kick the Busch brothers out for good I think we’d be ok.

Re: The US Constitution [ QUOTE ] What do you think the founding fathers would support today, given the circumstances? Wiretapping of known or suspected enemy combatants or not? Monitoring of wire transfers of money to/from our Country that could be used to attack us or not? Would they put unsubstantiated worries about personal freedoms of a few--absent any proof that abuses were being perpetrated--above the going concern of the entire United States? [/ QUOTE ] Our founding fathers wrote the Constitution with full knowledge and understanding that war was enviable and also wrote it with full knowledge that many “Americans” would side with England. There is no difference today when making your comments about an enemy that hides among us than there was pre-revolutionary war. Don’t toss in technology as an excuse for anything especially when tossing around the concepts of the very document that grants are freedoms. It’s status quo as far as I see. Sure, the Continental Army didn’t have tanks or M-16’s but guess what, neither did the English Army. Today our enemy has cell phones, email and satellite links and all kinds of neat **** but guess what – our toys are a lot neater than theirs. From what you’re saying, you would believe that if given the ability to foresee the future, our founding fathers would have built in ready to make amendments when creating the Constitution – That’s crazy thinking. Don’t go off blaming anything on the founding fathers – place FULL blame on every idiot politian that’s been elected to office to represent the US since then as well as a judicial system which for a lack of better words, allows the enemy in whatever form to be granted more rights than the common law abiding citizens they are threatening. AND WE ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!!!! The only thing we are lacking is a government with a backbone to tell the rest of the world screw-you. If someone attacks us on our own soil we’re going after them with every ounce of military might we can muster and if someone even tosses out the idea that they’re going to attack us, we’ll be on their doorstep knocking in the morning with the power and resolve to either work out the differences or eliminate them in a timely manner. We’re open to either option, you make the choice. [ QUOTE ] What do you think the founding fathers would do with elected representatives that accuse America's troops of untold barbarism--absent any firm evidence and before complete analysis of the situation is completed, proclaim that our President--absent any evidence what so ever-knew about 9/11 and let it happen, and disclosed top secret information trying to take down a President? What do you think the founding fathers would do to elected representatives who visted the enemy on the eve of war while expressing animocity towards their home Country? I think many of our elected Representatives would be hanged for treason. [/ QUOTE ] At that time and if I were an elected official, I wouldn’t worry about the founding fathers. I would be more worried about what the people I represented were going to do to my behind. Our founding fathers never really condoned “tarring and feathering” but it was generally practiced among the colonies. That’s what we need today, a whole lot more tar and feathering. That’s another problem with this country. How can we expect to have a government that has one ounce of backbone if “we the people” aren’t going to hold these SOB’s accountable for their actions? You want to know WHY these jack-%$#'s can go off and say anything they pretty much want to say? BECAUSE WE LET THEM! Civility, responsibility and good common sense are disappearing faster than a pack of smokes at an AA meeting these days. We have no civility in society today, we’ve allowed organizations and liberal groups to erase all existence of responsibility and good common sense, well that’s something you’ll find out on the farm but nowhere near a Federal building in any city or town. “We the people” is where the Constitution goes astray these days. We haven’t been “We the people” in many years. We haven’t been “We the people” since our 16th President decided to label and segregate a certain minority group and allowed them a free pass into society. At that point you had every other little whinning, sniveling little freak of nature starting to wonder how they could get in on the action of being singled out their own little group. Maybe we should allow for one amendment to the Constitution that would allow a change to the Preamble from “We the people of the United States” to “We the many little minority pissed off groups with our petty little differences that only reside in the United States” Course, that’s just my opinion….

Re: Interesting-anyone else hear this story There was a vote taken, long about 1776 and a declaration was written and a bill of rights also. I do have to wonder though - if the kid were speaking of any other religion other than Christianity - if the plug would have been pulled???

Re: The lunacy of the left [ QUOTE ] Some of the ignorance some of these idiots come up with really makes me wonder how they ever make it in life. [/ QUOTE ] I often wonder how they make it to work in the mornings without their support group there to give them directions every day.

Ok, so every once in a while – when I think I can stomach it. I move the dial settings on the radio past Boortz and past Hannity and even past Rush to listen in on the ramblings of the left as they try to panhandle their pathetic propaganda. This morning was one such morning. I’m sorry, I can’t remember the exact show or it’s name and I would have, I don’t think I would be giving it out to anyone. So what topic did I hear this morning? Education! The left when they’ve run out of things to talk about will always fall back on education. This is simple, American students are nearing the middle of the education totem pole these days at best so there’s great cause to bring this back to the forefront. Anyway, we’ve got our host – Mr. Professor of something from the university of somewhere hosting the show and he’s taking calls from the listening audience and I’m just amazed at the excuses that are coming out of the mouths of these liberals. Caller one: I failed in school because I didn’t have a “support group”. Yup, some of the left are now supporting the “support group” cause for our children. Isn’t that special? Hey, here’s an idea. Make the parents responsible for being the “support group”. Have them get off their lazy behinds and stop treating school as a daycare outlet. Hey, when I got a little behind in my class work and brought home a failing grade my father and his belt were all the support group I needed to back on track. Then again, there are keywords in my ranting that don’t fall under the left’s funk and wagnel – words like “responsible” Caller two: I agree with caller one. Yeah, one left coming up with an idea is more than a lot of the left can handle. Caller three: I failed because I was bored. The school systems need to incorporate more exciting things and classes to keep kids interested. I finally went to college in my 30’s and found it very interesting and got my degree. These are the ramblings from someone that probably wet his bed through his 20’s. Lets examine this idiots take on things. “I failed because I was bored” Ok, the only thing I agree with here is “bored” but I’m thinking more on the lines of “your father or mother should have hit you over the head with a board”. Again, excuses from the left for being lazy and not getting the handout they think they deserve. Oh yes, this clown was all over the fact that the school system should have advanced him to make his days more of a challenge. My guess is it’s a challenge for this guy to remember his way home at night. “I finally got my degree in my 30’s” I.E. My parents finally wised up and kicked my sorry **** through the field goal of life. People – this is the type of lunacy we’ll see again if the left weasel and lie their way back into power. This is fact IS the lunacy we’re seeing now from some outlets like the Supreme Courts who ruled just yesterday that a convict can appeal his way of execution because it hurt too much – and we’re referring to lethal injection, not the chair!!!

Re: Whats wrong with this country Yeah - if they would have beat the man to death then it's all a one-sided story and everyone wins. The guys doing the beating win and society as a whole wins because one more thug is dead.

Re: Left Wing Lies Busted Again Be nice - the left is in morning today because Rove was cleared.

Re: What to make of this? Johnf - the democrats come up with an original thought? Never happen - if it doesn, they'll turn into a Republican. Busby shot herself in the foot on this one - leading by a slime margin she goes on record at a illigal immigration rally and spews the non-sense that "illegals should have the right to vote" which pretty much pissed a few legal Americans off and that is what turned the tides. As for myself - The Republican Party has abondoned it's core beliefs of practicing conservatism. I think we should really have a third party and call then Conservatives because there's not a lot of difference in a Republican and a democrat today. Both parties are pandering for the hispanic and illegal votes when in the end they only make up a fraction of the total votes. The Republicans should be concerned about those votes BUT more worried about all the white votes they are going to lose in the process. In the end, I predict that there won't be much of a change in November which really saddens me.

Re: Waltrip can\'t qualify..buy\'s way in I disagree with most - I think it's ok to buy your way in. 1. This is a WIN for the little guy. He sells a car, probably gets a cut of the winnings and gains owner points - and all for a car that would have normally finished LAST. Cope is the benefactor here. 2. Waltrip WINS in this deal because he's now in the race, will pick up points and continue a streak of consecutive starts. 3. The sponsors WIN - Even though NAPA is the primary sponsor, you will have whatever sponsor Cope had on the car as well. This probably insures that the car won't be a last place car and sponsors are happy now and you know, you gotta keep the sponsors happy. The King bought his way into a Charlotte race once after crashing during qualifing. DW bought his way in a few years ago when he was all washed up. Hey - what's worse, buying your way into a race OR hiring a driver just because you are assurred of making the field for the first 5 races of the year (ie. Terry LaBonte and Hall of Fame Motorsports in 2006).

Michael Waltrip (Fails to qualify)

Re: Michael Waltrip (Fails to qualify) Did Shepard qualify for one of the races this weekend? Maybe the Busch race, but he qualified for one of 'em I know.... -

Re: SENDING HANDGUNS IN THE MAIL If you're flying, you can check firearms, even handguns - the rull is if you're checking ammo along with it, it has to be in a seperate case. It's a painless process just remember to tip the porter well - I know, you shouldn't have to do that but I've seen it with my own eyes - 3 of us went to Idaho a few years ago, 2 of us tipped the porter when it took our cases and one didn't.....you can guess who's gun didn't show up when we got to Idaho Falls.

Old Nascar Photo (name the drivers)

Re: Old Nascar Photo (name the drivers) [ QUOTE ] Old my butt ! Who you calling old ! LOL [/ QUOTE ] I'm calling YOU OLD! Course, sadly I'm included in that old group. Think about it, that was 1987 - 19 years ago. A lot of the posters on this site aren't 19 yet. I've still got my programs from the very first Charlotte race I went to - that was 1976 - 29 years ago. In fact, I've got the program from the 1987 race also - the same year as that poster - and every year in between. pssst - that's how I knew it was Bobby Hillin Jr. It's not like he had a stellar career or even one that anyone would remember. Here's you a piece of trivia - that year was the first year that a driver drove for Dale Earnhardt. No, DEI wasn't in exsistance yet but Earnhardt did have someone driving a car solely sponsored by Dale Earnhardt - remember who that was? -

Re: Old Nascar Photo (name the drivers) WOW - that is an old one. Lou - you've almost got it however Hut Stricklin isn't in the photo. The guy in the Miller suit is Bobby Hillin Jr. and the guy behind Cale is Greg Sacks -
Re: How come? [ QUOTE ] Memphis is having an all black mayoral meeting where some 500 mayors from around the country are meeting [/ QUOTE ] Ok – that’s a total of 138 IQ between all 500 and a grand total of 500 crocks that have been put in charge of running a city/town into the ground. [ QUOTE ] How come blacks can create seperation from other races for themselves and it is not racism, but if there was ever a mayoral meeting where they were exempted, they would be screaming racism. [/ QUOTE ] Simple – we’ve allowed it to happen in the past – they now not only expect it, they demand it and guess what, they’ll get it….and all because we allow it. [ QUOTE ] Just seems racism, discrimination, and further seperation are becoming more and more regular to me and it is not called racism, because it is the "minorities" who are creating this situation. [/ QUOTE ] Where have you been? The only person on the face of the earth that can be a racist is a white person. Or at least that’s how the politically correct crowd sees it.

Re: How to save gasoline: [ QUOTE ] They report that a driver can save 37% by not making frequent stops and starts, quick starts, or excessive acceleration. [/ QUOTE ] This will never work for Atlanta traffic

Anybody catch the slam Waltrip made on Morgan Shepard Saturday night? Now I don't care for Morgan, never have but to go and slam a part-timer that actually DID out qualify you at Daytona for no reason is really showing just how big a jerk you are!

Re: Chevrolet Out of NASCAR? Why would any manufacturer want to stay in NASCAR when NASCAR takes what they built and makes it into looking like something totally different? At least with IROC, a Firebird looked like a Firebird and was called a Firebird. A z28 looked like a Z28 and was called a Z28. In Nascar, a Charger looks like a Monte Carlo and Fusion cross-bred and is called a Dodge. Kinda like trying to sell a Coke in a Pepsi can donthca think?

Re: WHY You are correct - you have an opinion and it counts about as much as any other opinion. What seperates the facts from the fiction so-to-speak, is when you can back your opinions up with data that reflects the severity of the issue. Obviously you have concerns about your child and rightfully so - but to offer that something should be censored and gasp - taken off a shelf - well, isn't exactly good data to back your opinion. While this may be offensive to you, it may be excepatable to others. Don't begin to believe that taking away something or removing it from sight is the right answer to solving your problem because remember, what you may find exceptable in the future, some other idiot will find offensive. Oh and on another note - You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means the freedom for everyone, not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but the world is full of idiots and probably always will be.

Re: Kudos to VP and Mrs Cheney Yeah - but how many times have you seen this in the media since it was published? Oh, the media will report that the VP made X millions and paid X millions in taxes but they would never in a million years let on that a Republican made a donation to any charity. Meanwhile - the good Rev Jackson is going to pay a stripers college tuition so she won't have to strip or **** around on the Duke Campus....and that's front page!

Re: Salary Question I haven't been paid weekly in over 20 years but if memory serves me correctly, it's wasn't that big of a deal switching. Today my wife and myself both get paid bi-monthly and it works just fine.
