  1. Re: Whats so wrong about stem cell research ? Ok Sluggo - I propose that President Bush put forth the exact same amount of federal funds that your hero Slick Willie did. IN FACT, I propose that President Bush DOUBLE, EVEN TRIPLE that amount. So how much federally funded dollars went towards stem cell research under the Clinton Admin? NOT A **** CENT, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA. You curse someone for doing the exact same thing that you hold another in high regards for.
  2. Re: A more accurate electoral map. I’ve been reading these threads and have resisited the urge to comment but I can no longer resist that urge. I guess it really comes down to two beliefs. 1. The belief that it’s better the live in a country that allows for the opportunity of success, wealth and riches. 2. The belief that wealth and riches are something that is granted by a governing body. All you have to do is look around at the countries that have tried the “spreading the wealth” concept to see it doesn’t work. You have a society that is split by wealth and poverty and no mention of the middle class. I would much rather live in a country that allowed you the opportunity to better yourself than to live in a country that dictated how much you’re allowed to keep. You may curse those that make millions, or in the case of this thread, make more than $50k a year and you have that right. But don’t turn your back on the fact that these people get up every day and EARN it only for the sole reason that YOU haven’t gotten up and taken advantage of the same opportunities. You have choices in life from the beginning and throughout your life and it’s those choices that will dictate where you end up. I took the easy route when I was growing up. I went to college for a short period of time and then decided that it’s better to make a little money than invest time into books. Well son, it didn’t take me long in this world to realize just how stupid my thinking was! From that choice it’s been a struggle, working days and going back to school at nights but I did it and I EARNED IT and I TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT THIS COUNTRY ALLOWS and today yes, I’m the SOB that makes over $50k a year. I drive the nice automobile, I live in a nice house and my family is better off for it, but don’t you dare ever insinuate that I HAVEN’T EARNED everything I’ve accumulated and furthermore, it’s this mentality of “I don’t have it so I deserve it” that has really divided this country in my opinion. Look around, every opportunity is at your disposal and still, there are some that have the belief that government handouts are the better way to get it than actually getting off there asses and taking advantage of everything this country allows. Yes, there were a lot of people better off under the Clinton Admin but don't think for a second that some under-rated SOB from Arkansas had much to do with it. Unless you want to give him credit for encouraging businesses to falsely report earnings and creating tax loopholes that allowed the same businesses to report 401k's as earnings and to allow them to take those savings and blow in failed business practices. Yes - if you give credit for one thing, you have to give credit for the whole **** thing.
  3. Re: The GREATEST article I have ever read - Hysterical Ok, you knew I was going to examine this one and have all kinds of fun with it so here goes…… Boca Raton trauma specialist Douglas Schooler said he has treated 15 clients and friends with “intense hypnotherapy” since the Democratic nominee conceded last Wednesday. Maybe they should look at trying to de-hypnotizing these folks, the DNC has already done all the hypnotizing! “staring listlessly into space” And I thought all this time that this was just the normal look of a liberal Georgia resident Andrew Veal, 25, reportedly killed himself with a shotgun blast to the head due to Kerry’s loss and a girlfriend problem. WAIT – You mean CBS withheld the “girlfriend problems” from the public? Some mental health professionals in South Florida Ok, let it known that the next time any Republican calls someone from South Florida a “crazy lunatic” we have PROOF – They’re all down there seeing mental health professionals! the therapists said, many residents hurt themselves by so anxiously expecting the Massachusetts senator to win Hurt themselves? Let me guess – by banging there heads against the wall???? “We’re calling it ‘post-election selection trauma’ and we’re working to develop a counseling program for it,” I’m not sure which I’m more afraid of, the name “post-election selection trauma” or the fact that they’re actually developing a counseling program for it!!!! main concern is to prevent the recurrence of Kerry-related suicides like the one in New York City. WAIT – Where’s the girl in all this? Want to bet she had more to do with it than John Kerry? There are definitely people depressed by John Kerry’s loss Hey, I’ll bet no more than John Kerry himself! Has anyone thought to put a watch on John? Might better get him enrolled in this counceling before it fills up! “We’re referring people with election-related stress to the Democratic National Committee,” Oh this is just great, a shrink referring those that are depressed to Terry McAuiffe’s office! Misery loves company right! “We’ll do what we can for anyone who shows up for our support group programs this week, but we haven’t implemented a specific program for Kerry-related trauma.” That ok, 58 million of us implemented our own program last week – It’s called the THANK GOD BUSH GOT RE-ELECTED PROGRAM. Sorry, it’s only for the mentally sound – liberal report to the DNC! MY FAVORITE PIECE OF THE STORY Schooler, practicing in Boca since 1984, said he treated his 15 patients last week with hypnosis-based rapid response trauma therapy. This week, he is charging a sliding fee to non-clients who feel they need the one-time “election therapy” session. South Floridians can contact him at 561-395-3033. Ok, I laughed so hard at this statement – where do you begin? Define “hypnosis-based rapid response trauma therapy as – A swift blow to the head with a baseball bat! Oh and don’t forget – the good qwack doctor is charging a “sliding fee” to anyone that feels they need a one-time session. Here’s a deal for all liberals – give me a call and I’ll hit you up side the head with a ball bat FOR FREE! “A lot of Kerry voters don’t know what to do with their anger, because there was no recount, so they’ve kept it bottled up,” said Schooler, who also is a certified sex therapist. “I help them transform the anger into more positive emotions.” Ya know, I set here for the longest time and debated with my inter demons on commenting about this paragraph and have decided to leave all remarks to each individuals imagination. Ok, after much more debating I will leave you with just one comment – when you are discussing liberals and you use the term jack-off, you probably have it more right than wrong!!!! Yes buckee I know – I’m checking my email regularly at this time, just waiting for the barrage to fan mail to start. But ya know, I just couldn’t resist! Lets just all hope that these poor mentally ill liberals can get some help and soon.
  4. http://www.bocanews.com/index.php?src=ne...40983dcdc5d7660 From the Boca News - Published Tuesday, November 9, 2004 More than a dozen traumatized John Kerry supporters have sought and received therapy from a licensed Florida psychologist since their candidate lost to President Bush, the Boca Raton News learned Monday. Boca Raton trauma specialist Douglas Schooler said he has treated 15 clients and friends with “intense hypnotherapy” since the Democratic nominee conceded last Wednesday. “I had one friend tell me he’s never been so depressed and angry in his life,” Schooler said. “I observed patients threatening to leave the country or staring listlessly into space. They were emotionally paralyzed, shocked and devastated.” Schooler’s disclosure comes after the weekend discovery of a Kerry volunteer’s corpse at Ground Zero in New York City. Georgia resident Andrew Veal, 25, reportedly killed himself with a shotgun blast to the head due to Kerry’s loss and a girlfriend problem. Some mental health professionals in South Florida said Monday they have already developed a new category for the Kerry-related stress reactions. Because Palm Beach County voted heavily for Kerry, the therapists said, many residents hurt themselves by so anxiously expecting the Massachusetts senator to win – especially those who maintained unrealistic recount hopes after their candidate’s concession. “We’re calling it ‘post-election selection trauma’ and we’re working to develop a counseling program for it,” said Rob Gordon, the Boca-based executive director of the American Health Association. “It’s like post-traumatic stress syndrome, but it’s a short-term shock rather than a childhood trauma.” Gordon, the first American Red Cross psychotherapist sent to Ground Zero after the 9/11 terror attacks, said therapists’ main concern is to prevent the recurrence of Kerry-related suicides like the one in New York City. “There are definitely people depressed by John Kerry’s loss, and this can easily lead to suicides like the one we saw up in New York this weekend,” Gordon said. “Luckily, it can be treated if people seek help. We’re urging people to call us immediately if they feel depressed or know anyone who is seriously stressed out.” Also in Boca, at least one counseling center and an emotional support group were preparing for an influx of Kerry supporters at their first post-election meetings today. “We’ll let the Kerry voters talk about it and let off some steam, and by listening to other people’s stories, we’ll help them refocus and surrender to the things in their life which they can’t possibly change,” said a spokeswoman for Emotions Anonymous, a recovery group meeting tonight at Glades Presbyterian Church. “We’re referring people with election-related stress to the Democratic National Committee,” said Karen Jacobs of the Center for Group Counseling. “We’ll do what we can for anyone who shows up for our support group programs this week, but we haven’t implemented a specific program for Kerry-related trauma.” Schooler, practicing in Boca since 1984, said he treated his 15 patients last week with hypnosis-based rapid response trauma therapy. This week, he is charging a sliding fee to non-clients who feel they need the one-time “election therapy” session. South Floridians can contact him at 561-395-3033. “A lot of Kerry voters don’t know what to do with their anger, because there was no recount, so they’ve kept it bottled up,” said Schooler, who also is a certified sex therapist. “I help them transform the anger into more positive emotions.” Asked to describe symptoms of the post-election trauma, Schooler said, “They include feelings of extreme anger, despair, hopelessness, powerlessness, a failure to function behaviorally, a sense of disillusionment, of not wanting to vote anymore – that sort of thing. We’re talking about a deep, unhealthy personal suffering that can best be remedied by intensive short-term therapy.”
  5. Re: Bush win impressive? I'm sorry Slug, the democrats came out on Wed the 3rd and proclaimed that they still had enough people in the house and senate to delay anything Bush wanted to accomplish - this shows me that the liberals are more willing to keep things divided than the Republicans. If you democrats want a chance at returning to prominence, fire Terry McAuliffe, shut Ted Kennedy up, stop filibustering and obstructing progress, reach across the aisle, you will find a willing partner in Republicans and you MUST and I mean MUST distance yourselves from idiots like Michael Moore, Al Franken, Ted Kennedy, Hollywood liberals, Al Gore and others who do not help your cause but only hurt it.

  7. Re: Bush win impressive? [ QUOTE ] Thats the thing though, you show me 100 polls that said Bush would win, I'd show you 100 more that said Kerry would win. There are so many factors that go into polling that most of them are unreliable at best, especially them dang exit polls. I hate those things. [/ QUOTE ] All "polls" are designed with a specific agenda in mind. There are only three which I trust... the flag pole the meat pole the ol' smokepole When it comes to "political polls"...caveat lector! That's the view from here.
  8. Re: Peter Jennings What can you expect from a French Canadian that couldn’t find it in his heart to become an American citizen until after the death of his wife, who in fact hated the US. Course, I’m sure she didn’t hate the lifestyle that came along with the job. It’s funny how so many (especially the rich) can hate the US so much but will stick around because they’re getting rich off its successes. Anyway, Moral Value is defined as Conforming to standards of what is right or just in behavior. A principle, standard, or quality considered worthwhile or desirable. Now here is where we start to derail from a simple explanation. “Conforming to standards” is no more than a realistic opinion. Your standards may not be as high as mine or vis-verses. What you feel is a “right or just behavior” I may look down upon and view it as idiotic. And desirable or worthwhile standards just add fuel to the fire in this debate. In the end, it really doesn’t matter. I believe that each man will be judged one day by a Supreme Being and we will be held accountable for all our actions and our moral values will be a part of that judgement.
  9. Re: Canadian censorship??? This is just one more in a long line of examples that we can learn from. If any government is given total rule of their citizens, then the very basics of rights will be taken away. In the US we have the 1st Amendment that allows the right of freedom of speech. However, we have allowed our government and society to dictate to us when and where we have this right. Having a right is one thing, being told when you can use it and when not is another thing all together. We can’t stand by idle and let the liberal leftists remove parts of the Bill of Rights that they don’t like.
  10. Re: ? for slugshooter [ QUOTE ] John Ashcroft lost in Missouri to Mel Carnahan. And Carnahan was dead. [/ QUOTE ] Symathetic votes...
  11. Re: Thanks all you guys [ QUOTE ] I gotta admitt something, Im 31 years old and up untill this year I never bothered to vote.Coming in here, watching you guys argue, listening to what was going on, and figuring out where these guys really stood on some things{to some extent anyway } really opened my eyes.Even those of you who supported Kerry got me to go look into his voting record and make decisions based in some part on that.So last night after I got back from hunting{priorites the ruts started}I had my brother pick me up and went to the voting booth. But I gotta admitt that as entertaining as listening to you guys has been, Im soooo glad its over Thanks again, if i hadnt kept up to date in here Im fairly sure Id of never went and voted again this year [/ QUOTE ] Hey - argue is what we do best! I am glad to hear that all this mindless banter has done some good!
  12. Re: Kerry quote...reaction? I'm kinda wondering where he got put under the microscope at?? The media gave Kerry the pass on this election. No hard questions were asked and no explanations given. Bush however took a beating every day..... Other than that, I think he saw the writting on the wall and took it on the chin for the next guy running. He couldn't win, he was assured of that - and if he'd went down the Al Gore path of 2000, I think the American people wouldn't have forgotten so easily this time...
  13. Re: Coincidence ?? HARDLY !!!! I don't think you can pin-point one single group and give them the preverbal "pat on the back" for W winning reelection. I think it's a combination of several groups coming out in support of the President. Religious groups did play a big part as well as gun owners. However, I think a lot more family members of soldiers fighting in the war played a hugh part. Kerry did a lot to really slam our troops in the past year, especially after voting to send them to war. I think the families of these brave men took it personal and got out on Tuesday to send Kerry a message.
  14. Re: ? for slugshooter [ QUOTE ] Oddly enough, this state will vote for a Republican President, but if you are a democrat and want to be governor, you're basically guaranteed to win. He won his Senate seat but now a Republican has the seat his is vacating, Erskine Bowles lost, which I found surprising. [/ QUOTE ] I think that the democratic party has swung so far to the left on social issues that it's created a backlash with people firmly rooted in basic principals which include Religion, family, moral values and yes, hunting and gun-ownership. As for the future - status will remain the same. One day after John Kerry gives a tear-jerker speech and preaches that there must be unity between the parties and it's the responsibility of the Republicans to reach accross the aisle, we have the democrats (those that are left) spewing that they still have enough in the House and Senate to block or at least delay anything Bush tries to accomplish. So much for the idea of a non-partisian government - the democrats have spoken!
  15. Completing an electoral revolution that began two years ago, Georgia Republicans on Tuesday won the majority in the state House for the first time since Reconstruction. The win gave the party control of both chambers of the Legislature. Picking up newly created districts in north and south Georgia and bumping off a handful of incumbent Democrats, the GOP increased its hold on the Senate majority while taking enough seats in the House to complete its statehouse takeover. Republicans had been declared winners in at least 91 House races -- enough for a majority in the 180-member House. They had been declared winners in 31 of 56 Senate elections.

    A Record

With 95% of precincts reporting nationwide Bush has almost 57 million popular votes. This is a record popular vote for any presidential candidate in the history of the nation. Now I know that the popular vote is a Constitutionally irrelevant figure ... but the Democrats were sure proud of the fact that Gore won the popular vote in 2000. Let's see if they give Bush the same props. Oh ... by the way, Bush also got the majority of the popular vote. That's something Bill Clinton was never able to do.
  17. Re: How long did it take.... 2 hours exactly....
  18. Re: whats your opinion It took me 2 hours this morning. Lets put it into perspective a little. Record number of voters, but still only half of the country votes. What would happen if indeed everyone voted that could vote? The election system couldn't take it.

    Show on ABC

Re: Show on ABC [ QUOTE ] It is sad how some people have the whole thing backwards. It disturbed me and my wife that she was more concerned for her dogs than her child. I can't believe how stupid some people are. [/ QUOTE ] It's simple, she wants the government to raise her child so she can spend all her time protecting her dog. What scares me the most is that the majority of America is leaning in that same direction.
  20. Re: Question about Electoral College Electorial College 101 Ok here’s the footnotes version: Every state has 2 electors for every US Senator plus the number of US Representatives. Thus, this determines how many votes a candidate would receive if they won that states majority vote. The individual’s selected are from lists submitted by the political parties to the states chief election official. The candidate that receives the majority of electorial votes is declared the winner.
  21. Re: New Flag if Kerry is elected [ QUOTE ] It didn't work because it is a bmp image instead of a jpg image You need to change it in your files on your PC, get rid of the first one you uploaded and upload the new one that is in a jpg formay instead of bmp [/ QUOTE ] Figured that one out.....I ain't as dumb as I look
  22. Re: New Flag if Kerry is elected Lets see if this works
  23. Re: New Flag if Kerry is elected Hmmmm....now why didn't that work??
