  2. Being a VERY amateur archer shooting a stickbow,I'd probably stay with aluminums because of the consistancy.Woods can be a little tricky and it'll take some trial and error to find the right spined shaft for your 'curve.A word of advice-stay away from the "catalog" arrows. They don't have any consistancy in spines or weights. If you do want to get some cedars, check out the link below-they have great arrows and shafting. As far as jigs--Bitzenberger and Jo-Jan are 2 of the better ones.I like my Jo-Jan multifletcher. http://www.kustom-king.com/

    fly fisherman?

Re: fly fisherman? Every weekend I'm out drifting nymphs for trout-really slamming them on bead-head hare's ear nymphs.I'm going out this morning at 5:30am--better get to bed soon!
  4. Re: Bag target stuffing? Shrink wrap works great.I get it at work when my workers take it off pallets of product and it will definitely stop an arrow. If you have none where you work-stop at WalMart's receiving dock and ask for the stuff they took off skids.
  5. Re: What is everyone shooting this year???? I was going to hunt with a Stahl t/d recurve but I just bought a Black Widow MA2 t/d recurve.
  6. Re: Whitetail Carbon Arrows I picked some up at Gander Mtn. last year. They fly pretty good,as durable as any other carbons i've used and the price is reasonable.

    kennel question??

Re: kennel question?? A buddy of mine used 12"x12" patio pavers-laid them over a sand base.Worked pretty good and the pavers didn't cost too much.
  11. Re: Whitetail Pics Wanted This is a buddies Ohio deer he tagged last year in archery.
  12. I've been out a few times so far this year.Shot a couple of nice carp and some suckers.Lotsa fun!!!
  13. Re: Your worst gun Ulti-Mag 835.Had to have one and when I had one,I couldn't wait to get rid of it.Traded it for an old compound bow and some $$$ and gave the bow to a nephew. In respect to Mossburg,I had a 500 and that was a real nice handling shotgun.

Re: Magazines The only magazine I get is Traditional Bowhunter Magazine.I'll pick up Bowhunter or Bowhunting off the rack on occassion.
  19. Re: need help (recurve set-up) First--are you going to shoot off the shelf or off a rest?If you shoot off the shelf, you'll need to use feathers instead of plastic vanes. If you shoot off an elevated rest, you can use the vaned shafts.I'm not too familiar with carbons but if they seem too stiff you can put a heavier point on to weaken up the spine. Also, when you pull the bow back--you're pulling and holding the whole weight(50#)assuming you're drawing 28".If you draw longer than 28",you'll be pulling more wgt(about 2-3# for every inch)--there's no let-off.Sorry I can't help more.
  20. Re: Sooooooooooooo Booooooooooooooooored... I went in at 7:00am today and finished up by 11:00am.But I also have to work Sunday and Monday...and Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday.
  21. Re: What is your fravorite bow company/bow to shoot My favorite bow at the moment(for the last 2 yrs)is a custom Dale Stahl T/D recurve,60" & 58#@28".Bocote riser and natural bamboo limbs.I've gone thru alot of recurves and longbows over the years and this one really fits me pretty good.
  22. Re: Fletch your own arrows??? I've been using the same fletching jig for years with left-wing helical clamps. The Jo-jan is quick and does a real nice job. Can't remember the last time I had someone build me arrows.
  23. Re: Question on shield cut fletch You can use right wing or left wing-doesn't matter as long as all the fletches are the same wing. You don't want left and right wing feathers on the same shaft. If you use left wing--you'll need a left wing clamp---right wing feathers need a right wing clamp. As far as white arrows-can't help ya there.I dip the last 9" but never did a full-length shaft.
  24. Re: Furthest traditional bow kill? My longest shot and kill on a deer was a 22yd shot on a 6pt with a recurve that I whistled at to stop him.My farthest kill on a critter was 39yds on a groundhog last year with a recurve. My bro and I were at the club we belong to on the practice range when a hog came out of the tree line.I saw him, turned, drew and released in one quick motion and hit him quartering away.
