  1. Re: What are the chances? Back in '99,I went to my cabin for a week of bowhunting. The 1st morning out I had a chunky 6pt come down and pass by my stand at 12yds broadside.I thought I had moved away from the tree far enough and when I shot,my recurve"s upper limb smacked the tree-sending the arrow porpoising right over the deer's back. The deer jumped and ran about 20yds and just looked around then walked off.It soundd like a tree limb breaking off.Five days later I see a buck coming up a two-track heading for some apple trees.I whistled him to stop-he stops and,I shoot and find him 60yds away.Same deer-I could tell from the palmated right antler. When I had him hanging,I noticed he had a shaved patch on his back right above the shoulder that had started to scab over.
  2. Re: Big Bucks Snapper, both are Pa. deer-both from Somerset Co.I have some property out there(10.5 aces)that I built a cabin on.My brother has 30acres with a cabin-that is where the deer are hanging. We do pretty good out there.
  3. Re: Big Bucks Here's another. This was my ist rifle kill.Mine is the 8pt on the right. My brother shot his 8pt 1 hour before I got mine out of the same tree stand.Mine dressed out at 173#-estimated live weight 205-210#.
  4. Re: Big Bucks My 11pt(that's me in the middle)dressed out at 182#.Estimated live weight at 210-215#.
  5. Re: New or Used??? I have no problem buying used if it's in really decent shape.I bought 2 new guns last year and that's cause they were on sale.I usually buy a bow or 2 every year and since they're custom recurves and LB's,I pick them up used at swap meets at the traditional shoots. Some of these bows cost upwards of $800 or so new and I can't justify paying that kind of coin.

  7. Re: hunt when you are sick? I go to work when I'm sick--I will definitely go hunting when I'm sick and have in the past.
  8. Re: D.U. Game and Mouse Pad I saw that a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to pick it up.Maybe this weekend.
  9. In Pa.,they go by forested sq.mile.So where I live in York Co.,it's something like 40-45 deer per sq.mile which may seem like alot but this county isn't a heavely forested county-mostly agri. But,I also see alot of deer in the couple of areas that I do hunt.
  10. Re: Is this bad? I had a dream about a month ago with me taking the huge buck I've been hunting for the past 3yrs.Deja Vu?It was so realistic I could actually experience the sights and smells of that fall morning. When I hunt this area this fall,I know exactly where I'll be setting up.
  11. Re: Turkey or Deer, which is more exciting to hunt I love hunting deer-with a bow,it's my passion. But on a Spring morning nothing gets me more pumped up than hearing a gobbler sounding off on the next ridge.
