Tominators Senior picture - how nice Way to go Dawg!
-
The last time I heard about a bunch of birds found dead they were a mixture of black birds and a farmer had put out poison because they were in his crops all the time (he did get in a lot of trouble too). Don't know what's going on now food source is another possibility.

wow a rainbow - that's intense!

Also if your friends all tagged deer 150 and up and you have the opportunity to see the racks in person do it.

I have deleted the "Less than 10% Thread" I'm sure to some cheer and some complete disapproval. My reasoning is tomorrow is my birthday and I will be turning 40. I have learned growing causes growing pains, the more we learn, the more we know, we don't know anything. - Carolyn Arends While I am sure that there are many jewels within the thread that will be missed I hope that you will just agree with an aging man and focus on this extraction from the thread. It's good to have this family here at Realtree, I hope as 2011 approaches that we can seize the day in front of us and let go of the things that keep holding us back. Gary 12-28-2010, 02:15 PM Team Realtree Administrator Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: Columbus, Georgia Posts: 5,116 I wish I could stick all of you on a plane to some central location for a group hug! Seriously, I think a lot of you would get a long a lot better than you think you would. Seriously, I'm just like a lot of folks in here. I'm not in here near as much as I used to be. A lot of that has to do with my job and much more busier home life where I have three boys that are not in bed by 7 or 8 o'clock anymore. I think everyone will admit though that the online world is not what it was 10 years ago when these forums got rolling. Back then, online forums was social media. Now they are a small part of a social media universe that offers thousands of ways for folks to communicate. The only way we will compete with the facebooks, the twitters, and even other forums of that world is to do away with the tighter moderation and just let folks have at it with the opinions and language you see in the others. At the same time, I cringe with some of the stuff I see posted elsewhere and glad it's not something someone can point a finger at us for allowing. I can be just as colorful and crude as anyone out there, but I have no problem with places that ask that I don't. Do we have issues in here? Dang straight we do. Everyone does. But I would much rather have "our issues" than what others have. Yes we have mods that go overboard, are sometimes arrogant, and sometimes make the wrong decisions, but you are looking at 30-40 unpaid individuals doing this because they are a part of what still is a great community that promotes something we all hold close to our hearts. I don't expect all of them to be perfect or to always make the right call (I know I'm not). I have had to step in many times over the past and try to smooth some of the issues out and will admit that it can be a struggle. Participation and traffic is not as bad as you might think. It may be down some, but not a lot. That view also depends on what you're looking for. It's still a very active community with folks registering daily looking for things some of the old timers might not be. My biggest concern are the younger folks we are losing to all the other social media platforms. We need them in here asking questions and getting answers. Maybe we will see another swing that way when they get a little more mature, away from the general social circles and a little more serious about hunting as a way of life. Either way, all of you are important to these forums. Let's focus on what we can do to promote or make them better and not so much on the negatives. My apologies... when I said that they mow the greens, I was referring to the deer. We have one farm that the deer just devour the greens when they come up. I think it's due to that these plots are located close to bedding and feeding areas, they basically stage in them in the morning and evenings going to and from there main food source and bed. But this only happens on this farm, the other farms they don't get hit hard until it freezes. Hope this clears things up

This is my biggest racked buck I shot with 16 points grossing 171 and change. Went out to pull a stand and ended up having him following a hot doe. I was standing on the ground when I saw the doe flip her tail, shortly after that I saw him coming my way. I was facing the wrong way and somehow turned all the way around and drew back. He walked into the opening 15 yards in front of me and I drilled him. This deer gave me the biggest adrenaline rush I have ever had on a whitetail and it lasted a Looooooooonnnnnnnggggg time. My dad and brother came out to help me track him and drag him out which made it even more special.

lol - i was never seen - I filmed Realtree's Chris Griffin doe and buck kills in Iowa. We had an emotional roller coaster ride all week, seeing big buck but they would just stay out of range. The morning of the last day things didnt go all that well and we were really down. But all things happen for a reason and as it turns out he rattled that buck in with about 10 minutes of filming light left - it was truly one of the coolest weeks of filming I have done.

I was on Volume 1!

Looks like the one my buddy has that we grind our deer with, does a great job.

We've used turnips here in Illinois with good luck. We have one farm that they mow the greens once they start coming up. Later when it gets cold they hit them hard because they basically turn to sugar. After the first few snowfalls they are usually hitting them hard. I will say that we have had better results on some farms than others, and that it also may take the deer a couple years to get used to what they are.

I have bigger deer and I have had more exciting hunts than that day, but this buck has more deep meaning than any other I have taken. This deer was taken on the farm I grew up on. The deer didn't live on the farm they would just pass through and you could sit for days and not see anything. We had various people hunt deer on the farm over the years but no one ever took one. So not only is this the first deer ever taken off the property but in the background of the pic you will see a food plot. It's the first one I ever put in, my two girls at the time ages 9 and 6 helped clear the plot and plant it. They also came out to drag him out and help gut him. The new owner is a great guy and still lets us hunt there, my brother Eric (who's birthday is today) shot his very first deer ever this year out of a tree not 20 yards from where I shot mine.

Oops sorry about that, we really did miss you though Greg!

Come on everyone needs to pull together on this one! Tominator has been without internet for TWO whole days now and has not only missed what was going on here but also in the rest of the world. So please come up with your best sarcastic answer to the often asked question when someone comes back... DID I MISS ANYTHING? Here's mine... Sure did! Just heard yesterday that after much scientific evaluations they have decided to delete Tuesday from the week and that we no longer need 4's in our numeric figures! Also they found an alien spaceship in arkansas, and just before you came in they announced who really killed Kennedy

Glad to have you back with us Brad!

I had to teach Kestrel the difference between hunters and vegetarians... Hunters are trying to help the planet by reducing carbon dioxide emissions, while vegetarians are trying to kill all of us by destroying the plants that provide oxygen for us. :poke: lol

Congrats on a great buck! I'll go with 135

Here's mine from the last two years... Manitoba Alberta Have enjoyed keeping up with you on your thread Mike!
