It convinced the region to construct such a nice stadium for such a miserable team. It's the nicest minor league stadium in baseball. -
Re: What was your first concert? My first concert was the Romantics, who played at a nearby college when I was a freshman or sophmore in H.S...if you want to call that a concert. Otherwise, Peter Gabriel in '84ish. Some of the others: Best concert: U2 - Joshua Tree Loudest concert - Jethro Tull (outdoor amphitheater) Bar concerts: Little Texas, Rusted Root, Donnie Iris Multiple shows: Rush, Barenaked Ladies I recommend Rush, Barenaked Ladies, Alanis Morissette and Martina McBride for a good show. Alright...now I need to check the local concert schedule.

Re: Shooting glasses??? I have seen lens (shade) selection information included with product literature provided by manufacturers of industrial safety glasses. Many of the manufacturers produce eyewear marketed under numerous brand names. I believe that many of low cost shooting glasses are non-prescription safety glasses that have been relabeled and increased in price. If I remember correctly, lens selection data are available on the Uvex website. Information may also be available on the Crews or Olympic Optical (Smith & Wesson lic.) websites.

Re: NASCAR\'S Worst Tracks? With the exception of the closing laps and "the big one," I think that races at Talledega are painfully boring. Due solely to its history, I can't quite add Daytona to that statement.

Re: alluminum or carbon????????? Both will perform very well if properly spined and shot with a tuned bow. Personally, I shoot aluminum arrows. I prefer a helical fletch and the larger diameter shaft provides more clearance as the arrow passes over/through my [fixed position] rest. The pro shop where I visit sells approximately 50% carbon and 50% aluminum arrows for hunting use. Usage depends upon personal preference.

Re: Ben didn\'t get in I agree that the ball did break the plane of the goal line...touchdown. The Seattle receiver did push off to gain separation...offensive pass interference. The holding call on Locklear... I don't believe that either team played very well. Each team had its chances. Pittsburgh made more of its opportunities and won. HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!

Re: How many have a college education? I have a B.S. and have earned several credit hours toward a graduate degree. Unfortunately, relocation ended my pursuit of that M.P.H. many years ago. I haven't made the time to return to school since then.

Re: Hockey Question muggs has it right. Most even strength shifts usually last 30-40 seconds. The coach calls for line changes, but most players know when to come off. During play, line changes are made when the puck is located [deep] in the opposing zone. This year in the NHL, players on the team that ices the puck are not allowed off the ice during the resulting stoppage of play. The players who are on the ice for the icing must remain on the ice for the faceoff in their own zone. Forward lines and defensive pairings typically stay the same during the game. However, a change may occur due to injury, attempt to generate additional offense [late in game] or some other reason. Forward lines are numbered in succession - 1, 2, 3, and 4. Defensive players are numbered in sucession - no. 1 defenseman, no. 2 defenseman, etc. During a game, forward lines usually roll in a pattern, such as 1-2-3-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-1-2-3-4...or otherwise, as the coach decides. Therefore, if line 1 is coming off the ice, line 2 players know to go on. The coach may change the line rotation or composition during the game based upon the situation. Usually defensive pairings roll as no's. 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 on the ice together, depending upon the number of defensemen dressed for a given game. As no's. 1&2 come off, no's 3&4 go on. Watch the bench when you attend another game. You will see the players slide up and down the bench during line changes. Typically, the forward line next to go onto the ice will be located together on the end of the bench nearest the opposing goalie (center between the two wings). Once gone, the next line of forwards slide up. The defensemen slide along the bench as well. This movement is difficult to detect when watching a game on television. Regarding the green light, I don't know why it would be illuminated during play. At the end of a period, the green light is automatically illuminated when the time clock reaches 0:00. At that point, even if the switch is flipped by a goal judge, the red light will not work. Another light is used to indicate a "television time out." That light is located on or above the scorer's table, which is located between the penalty boxes across the ice from the benches.

Re: Atlanta, Georgia Jan. 4-9th..... I am not aware of any waterfowling opportunities near Atlanta. Most of the people I know who duck hunt travel to the Savannah area, which is an approximately 4-hour drive from Atlanta. Quota hunts are offered on a WMA at Lake Oconee (90 min. east), but the application deadline passed last month. Quail and possibly hogs may be hunted fairly close to Atlanta on private properties (paid hunts). Otherwise, WMA's near Cartersville and Dallas offer small game hunting. Each of those areas is approximately 50 miles outside Atlanta. That's a long way to go to shoot a squirrel. Atlanta has enough to keep you busy for a few days. The new aquarium will open in the coming weeks. Depending upon your interests, visit theaters and a museum in mid-town, shops and restaurants in Underground Atlanta (take a taxi, go during the day - stay away from the street level at night), or search the internet for comedy club acts and concerts. The World of Coke is a tourist trap that is supposedly a "must see." It is located at Underground Atlanta. If you are a hockey fan, the Penguins are in town on Friday night (Jan. 6). The game will be played at Phillips Arena, which is attached to CNN Center, or down the street from the GA World Congress Center. May I suggest local restaurants for lunch rather than those in hotels or CNN Center. When I'm in the neighborhood, I usually eat at Max Lager's (Peachtree & W. Peachtree) or Mick's (International Blvd & Courtland?). Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe and a Hooters are located at Peachtree & International Blvd. Those are the same as any others in their respective chains. Many other restaurants are located in that general area as well. Consider Veni Vidi Vici or Ray's for dinner. For nightlife, the Virginia Highlands and Buckhead are the most popular areas. Buckhead has several restaurants as well (I highly recommend the Cheescake Factory), but that area becomes congested with Georgia Tech students and troublemakers later at night. Enjoy your time in Atlanta.

Re: Going to first hockey game I attended my first [and only] AHL game last year in Albany. Even though each team had a few NHLers due to the lockout, the others played very well. Good hockey at a great price. Although I'm within range of NHL and ECHL teams, I wish I lived closer to an AHL club.

Re: Who sits in a stand all day? I usually sit in a stand [or stay in one location if on the ground] all day if I hunt for one or two consecutive days in a week. If I hunt more, which is very rare these days, I'll need a change of scenery and will likely move around several times on the 3rd day.

Re: LeCalir to the Penguins I don't understand the acquisition of LeClair either. I haven't heard the terms of the 2-year contract, but can't imagine that the Penguins offerred much money. I hope that he can stay healthy enough to contribute this year. I don't understand their recent pick up of a career 5th defenseman either. They are already loaded with 5th defensemen. I read that the 'Guins are close to signing Josef Stumpel, who is a good friend of Ziggy Palffy. I hope that Aleksey Morozov enjoyed playing in Russia last year. I think that his days as a Penguin are finally over. It's about time!
