  1. Yep...Martin I bagged a bigun yesterday afternoon here in Missouri. 11 points over an inch...weighed 240. I'll take some daylight pics today after my buddies get back from their morning hunts. I won't be able to post pics till I get home though. My son arrives tomorrow so I'm changing over to mt guide hat. He's hunting through 11/8, so we'll be going home on 11/9. I can't fill my 2nd MO buck tag until the gun season opens on 11/16.
  2. 13 points...great buck!!! 18 points for the team is REAL BIG! Got to get back to packing...hitting the road early tomorrow morning and plan to be in a tree Wednesday. Got 10 to 12 days free to hunt during this trip to MO.
  3. Congratulations abrown! Nice!
  4. Martin...Millennium makes the Safe Link lifeline. They were also the 1st treestand company to include lifelines with the sale of their stands. They are also sold separately.
  5. Congratulations Allison....very nice buck!!!
  6. Met my son and 2 of his buddies at the MS camp Thursday afternoon. I hunted that afternoon but only saw 1 doe a long way off. It rained Friday and most of Saturday so I didn't hunt. Had to pick up my Suburban at the transmission shop Friday morning too. I mainly went to enjoy time with the younger guys anyway. Nobody bagged a deer. Heading to Missouri tomorrow. I'll be there till at least Nov. 8th. With no wifi there for the time being, may not be able to check in here. We'll see.
  7. You need a bigger buck than the one on the shirt to catch the buyer's eye. JMO.
  8. I remember the knife fight Buckee had with the blacktail buck. That one is a lot bigger though.
  9. Yep...put my Suburban in a transmission shop this morning...needs a new transmisson...OUCH!!! Should be ready Friday so I'll have it before I head back to MO.
  10. Back from Missouri till later this month. Bagged a doe but didn't see any shooter bucks while bowhunting. This trip was a series of bad luck things happening. 1st, had to get the city to fix a cracked water line at my house right before I left on Monday, Oct 7th. Then my Suburban broke down on the way up there. Put it in a shop in Memphis, TN. Got my buddy to pick me up on his way to MO 2 days later (Wednesday). The house in Missouri was hit by lightening. Knocked 2 panels of Hardy board off the outside, and a tear drop piece of drywall off the inside. Numerous outlets and appliances were fried. A breaker box in the basement was blown off the wall and just hanging by the wires connected to it. A 2nd breaker box only had 2 breakers tripped. Fortunately, the heater worked, we had hot water, the fridge was fine, the washer & dryer worked, most of the lights worked, and the stove worked (but the oven was fried). That was about all that was functional. We spent more time dealing with the house issues (insurance agent, adjuster and contractors) than hunting to get the ball rolling on repairs. Did all we could to have it ready for the contractor to get the electrical issues fixed and everything inside either put away or covered for the drywall work to done. Hope all the electrical problems are fixed before I return on Oct. 29th.
  11. I'll be in Missouri in time to hunt tomorrow afternoon. Bad news though...lightening hit the house/camp there and there is some damage inside. Not sure how bad yet. Have our neighbor/ranch manager checking it out and contacting the insurance company. Not sure how much that will cut into my hunting time while I'm there. We'll see but I don't usually hunt mornings until near the end of this month anyway. Going to have some cleanup to do though after the insurance company comes to take their pictures, etc. BTW...spent Friday & Saturday planting food plots down here. We are supposed to have a cold front move through here today that will take it out of the mid 90's to more seasonal fall weather here...finally.

    CWD here

Yep...no way to know that number. The 1st case of CWD found here in Mississippi was in January 2017. Since then, a lot...mainly closer to TN but the containment area is now a lot larger in the north side of the state.
  13. Congratulations Martin! WTG!!! It's that way with me and the shakes bowhunting too. After the shot the shakes set in, especially with nice bucks. Saw it's getting cooler north of here. It still will be in the mid 90's through this weekend but supposed to cool off a little next week. Since my son is going to make it to the MS camp this weekend (having a work weekend), I'm going to spend the weekend here in MS with him. I plan to drive to my son's house in Memphis, TN next Monday afternoon, then drive to Missouri from there. Plan to be in a stand bowhunting Tuesday afternoon in the cool air for about 6 or 7 days. Forecast shows it's supposed to be in the mid 40's for lows and mid to upper 60's for highs there by then and not supposed to rain. They've had a lot of rain there lately. So much a big creek that runs through the property is outside it's banks. The river that borders the south side is also up with flood waters in parts of the corn fields by it.
  14. Looking forward to long johns weather. Supposed to stay in the mid 90's into next weekend here. Season opens Tuesday but I can wait a little bit longer. Plan to head up to Missouri on 10/7 or 10/8 for about 5 or 6 days. Then the temp there is supposed to be in the upper 40's for lows and mid to upper 60's for highs. My kind of early season weather.
  15. Congratulations Martin! Not sure when I'll get my 1st hunt in yet. Still in the mid 90's here and the Mississippi season opens Tuesday. Not my kind of bowhunting weather. Looks like I won't get a chance to hit the road to Missouri until Oct. 7th or so.

    New addition

    Congratulations Shaun!!!
  17. Congrats on your buck Martin! Nice start!!! We were on the same team once before...long time ago. I think it was the same year your son-in-law killed a nice 10 point on one of his first hunts (if not the 1st) of that season. About the only long time member here I've never been on a team with is Hoosier.

    Deer Contest

I'm confused William...I only see 3 teams posted in the contest room and only a total of 5 people split between them. I'm not one of them either. There's a lot more left out too.
  19. Depends on where, the game hunted, and the temperature. Turkey hunting: Were snakes are a concern...Irish Setter snake boots. Otherwise Irish Setter regular boots. Unless it's exceptionally cold (It was 14 on opening day in Missouri in 2017)...then break out the 1200 LaCrosse rubber boots. Deer Hunting: It depends on the temp. I use uninsulated LaCrosse rubber boots when it's warmer (down to ~60), Muck boots when it's cooler (down to ~30), and 1200 LaCrosse rubber boots when it's colder. If it's very cold I'll add Thermacell boot warmers to the inside of my 1200's.
  20. I'm concerned about that too William!
  21. Due to a number of reasons, we were late getting our cams out in Missouri this year. I've always shot for the initial run to start in mid July. This year we couldn't get back there until Aug. 7th to get them running. 1 of my cams failed and I forgot 1 at the MS deer camp so we had 8 running instead of our usual 10. From those 8 cams we caught 10 bucks, so far that make our criteria. Here's the top 3...so far. No hard antler pics of these yet. Although this 10 point is not very wide, his main beams appear to go forward slightly past the end of his nose and curl up...really long! This next 10 point only showed up at night. He's real nice. Hope to get some daylight pics of him soon. This next buck is a main frame 10 point with 2 NT points coming off each main beam. His right beam NT point is on the outside of his beam. His left NT point is on the inside of his left beam. I don't think either one of the G2 kickers will make an inch so I'm calling him a 12 point. That's the top 3 on the hit list for the time being. Then I came up on this guy...although I believe he will have at least 150" of bone on his head, I don't think this 10 point is mature. To me the bottom right pic in the group makes me wonder if he's even 3.5 yet. The way his tines curl inward makes them appear shorter than they are too. Those were the best 4 pics I had of him and I don't have a frontal pic yet to check his inside spread.. That's it for now...hope to have some good hard horn pics soon to share.
  22. I've been bowhunting Missouri for the past 7 seasons in a row now. I bowhunted a different area twice prior to the past 7 years. IMHO the best dates to bowhunt rutting bucks in Missouri is 11/3 through 11/10. Also the best counties to hunt are any of the the northern 2 tiers of counties that aren't within a CWD contaiment area. That will knock out half the northern counties.

    Trail cam bucks

If they were there Frank, they're still somewhere close. As the woods settle down, they should be back. Just got back from Missouri. Haven't hunted yet. We were way behind finishing getting some stands ready. After I edit some cam cards, I'll post some pics. Initial cam run suggest we are down a bit on good mature bucks but we did get 10 nice ones from 8 cams running.
