Heree's pic from this morning. Scored him at an even 150" gross score. I'll share the story soon...great hunt!

That's real strange Don. I'm still in MO. Wanted to give y'all an update. Yesterday afternoon a big 8 decided to try to pass near me on his way to a standing corn field. I couldn't pass this one...shot him at ~25 yards. He went ~50 yards then I watched him bed down from the stand. I like those kind of tracking jobs! I think he will score somewhere close to 155". I'll take daylight pics today after my buddy gets back from his morning hunt. Also, in MO we get 2 fall archery turkey tags. This past Saturday afternoon I shot a gobbler from a treestand. Lucky I was able to draw without spooking him. He only went ~40 yards into standing corn. Bonus trophy! That's the 1st gobbler I've ever shot from a treestand with a bow. I will be on the sidelines scouting, etc. here in MO until I can go for my 2nd buck on Nov. 10th.

The M100U ultralight is 13.5lbs...the M60 ulralight is 13 lbs. The M100 has the full seat & back. The M60 doesn't have a back for the seat. New this year is the hang-on climbing sticks (come in either steel or aluminum). They come in a pack of 4. Lone wolf's hang on sticks come in a pack of 3 (I still have and use some). The aluminum hang-on climbing sticks are designed where the prongs that go against the tree will fold flat for transport so they can be packed flat and strapped to the stand making them more packable. The lone wolf hang-on sticks don't do that and 3 of them is not enough to get high enough in a tree IMO. The steel hang-on sticks don't have the folding prongs and obviously would be heavier. I'm not a "pack the stand & sticks in" kind of hunter anymore. Age caught up with me. Most of my stands are the M150 Monster (hang-on stand) and the L110 (21' ladder stand) for bowhunting.

Congrats Martin...wild turkey for Thanksgiving this year!

Congrats on the flat top! Got back from MO last night. Fun hunt but the mature bucks weren't moving much. I did see 2 big ones one afternoon. One of them is this 14 point I got on a trail cam in velvet. He was chasing a young doe. Early for that going on. The other was a big, old main frame 9 with one NT point that hasn't been caught on a cam. I was blown away by his body size. I told my buddy he had such a pronounced sway back that he looked like you could have thrown a saddle over his back. I watched him for over 10 minutes working the same scrape and lick branch. Once he got up on his back legs and pulled the big lick branch almost down to ground level. Very cool sighting! Oddly, he came out close to the scrape...worked it hard...then went right back into cover in the same spot. I'll be headed back to MO around Oct. 25th for a long haul hunt. I'll hunt through Nov. 7th, then take a short break for a couple of days and head right back for the MO gun season that opens on Nov. 10th this year. Oh, I did take out a coyote around 10:00 Sunday morning at ~25 yards. I'll post a pic later.

The vast majority of my hang-on style stands are Millennium stands. Why? They are the most comfortable stands I've ever used. Over the years, I've used a lot of different stands and non compare to Millennium stands for comfort. The more comfortable I am in a stand, the longer I'm apt to stay in it hunting. I liked their products so much, about 4 years ago a group of us bought the company for it's growth potential. Most of my Millennium hang-on stands are the M150 Monster. It has a full seat, built in footrest, nice size platform, and adjust for a crooked tree. I also have a couple of the 360 Revolution hang on stands too. The 360 Revolution also have a full seat that will swivel 360 and can be set in a crooked tree too. I also use Millennium stick ladders and their ladder stands too.

It was up to 90 here this past weekend. Too hot for me to bowhunt. Looking forward to heading to Missouri to bowhunt Wednesday. We are supposed to get temps down into the mid 30's while I'm there. Can't wait!!! Sick of the heat.

Great to see you check back in here Al. I'm not a Facebook person either. I guess I'm still an old school type guy. I'd rather talk to friends and family or email them when there's pictures to share. I'm still retired...for the most part. One thing new for me since you were last here is this. A group of us bought Millennium about 4 years ago. The company that makes treestands, etc. Yep...I'm in the hunting industry. Still keeping my John Doe hunter ID though. That will be my last business venture since I'll be 65 in a little over 2 months.

Going to the MS hunting club Saturday to run my trail cams and shift a few around. Supposed to be 90 degrees Saturday afternoon so I'll pass on sitting in a stand to bowhunt when it's that hot.

Back from the 1st short hunting trip in MO. Saw a shooter 9 point the 1st day...no shot but he's not a buck I'd care to shoot this early in the season. Thunderstorms cut my 2nd afternoon hunt short. The 3rd afternoon I saw a lot of deer (27) but no shooter bucks. The temp shot up into the 80's the 4th day so we spent that day and the following day doing chores. Headed back to MO next Wednesday to hunt with a friend of mine for 4 days. After that, I'll take a break from hunting Missouri until later this month and spend a little time hunting here in MS.

Don...Best guess...about 5'. They typically don't get as big as the ones up north. Kudzu...yep...that plot is named Kudzu too for a good reason. Good luck Joe on your 1st hunt of the season. Mine will be Friday in Missouri. Driving there tomorrow.

Bears are rare and protected here in Mississippi Don. However, I got this one on a trail cam here in MS recently looking over the top of one of our summer plots (alycee clover).
-
Actually...2 treestands...one right on the damn side (W side) and one off to the SE side so I can hunt it with multiple winds. The trail cam is off the E side facing W.

Hard to answer that question William. Too me, each deer has a unique personality. A buck's personality changes as he matures too. So to answer your question...I don't know.

South Haven is about a 2.5 hour drive north of me (just south of Memphis, TN). Been looking at moving that way sometime since my son lives in Memphis. With the forecast calling for a cool front to move through MO later this week. I plan to be in a tree bowhunting Friday afternoon...maybe Thursday afternoon too. I'll hunt 4 or 5 days then take a short break.
-
Nothing much here...home chores and packing up to head to Missouri Monday. Got some chores to do there and run the trail cams again. Only staying 3 days and driving home Friday. Might get 1 afternoon hunt in if it's cool enough. We learned the mature bucks won't show themselves much in the daylight until it cools down. Waiting for the 1st cold front to get serious there.
-
Joe...it looks like you and Don are going to get hammered by rain from Florence Wednesday.

Checking in. Looking forward to sharing deer tales with the team. I think this will be the 1st time Don has been on the same team with me. Season opens in MO on 9/15 and heading there on 9/17 for just a few days. Probably won't get a chance to hunt much. The new barn & skinning shed is almost finished (burnt down last year on 10/17). We need to get the skinning shed ready. I have the electric hoist for it to mount. The walk in cooler is ordered to be deliver and we'll have to assemble it. finishing touches stuff and I want to run the trail cams again too. We usually wait until the 1st cool front of the season moves through to get serious about kicking off the bow season there anyway.

Saw it earlier...wasn't sure if that was a he or a she though. Appeared to be an animal rights activist.

Probably going to the MS hunting club tomorrow through Sunday morning to check trail cams and do a few more preseason chores.

No...The camera is facing almost due S. My stand is ~15 yards E of the camera.
