  1. I carry a Glock 27 in an Alessi inside the waistband holster at times. Other times I carry the same gun in an Alessi CQC-S holster outside the waistband. It depends on what clothing I am wearing. Either way, the draw is the same. I would recommend that you purchase the gun that feels good in your hand and that you are able to shoot comfortably. I chose a 40cal because that is what I like to shoot and am comfortable doing so. I also recommend that you obtain some sort of training with your chosen concealed carry piece. That would be money well spent in my opinion.
  2. I went in to my local archery proshop a couple of days ago to "look" around...I wasn't planning on buying. Well, he had some 2010 bows discounted so I decided to look at those...For what he was charging for the bare bow last year, I was able to pick one up fully set up with a drop away rest, a three pin site, a Kwikee Kwiver, and a string loop. The bow is a Pearson Archery Legend and I love it...I loved shooting my old Pearson Spoiler Lite but this one is even better. I need to spend some time with it at the range. It is much faster than my older bow and quieter as well. After Doc helped me adjust my peep site, I was putting all the arrows in the 10 ring at 20 yards. If I keep on practicing regularly until bow season in October, I will be Robin Hooding arrows...Not that I want to do that with carbon arrows at approximately $10 a pop. Here are some images of the Legend that I found on the net...
  3. I concur...Carry mine everyday as well as to and from the "office." Mine mostly rides in my Blackhawk CQC Serpa holster.
  4. I vote for the Bushnell Elite 3200 2-6x32...I have one with the Firefly reticle mounted on my 7-30 Waters TC G2 handgun...Love it.
  5. Yup...Those little Brownings are good little shooters...I have one as well with a Bushnell red dot site on it...
  6. Nice shooting...I believe that you are out of cartridges as well... A co-worker of mine and myself were looking to pick up some steel to shoot at...It was extremely fun when I did it a couple times with other guys steel...I want some for myself.
  7. I have one and I am happy with it...But, it is not always easy finding 10GA shells for the thing. 12GA or 20GA shells would be easier to find...To help mitigate the recoil, I installed a Mercury Recoil Reducer in the stock bolt hole. C&H custom cut it to fit my stock according to my provided measurements...Voila, less felt recoil.
  8. Yup, those Taurus 1911's seem to be pretty good shooters...I have one that is more accurate than I seem to be. It feels great in my hand and has been flawless with fmj rounds...But, when it comes time to load hp ammo, a problem has arisen. Initially, I loaded up a magazine of Speer Gold Dot 230 gr hp ammo...Pulled back the slide to load round in to the chamber and it locked up. The hp hung on on the bottom lip of the feedramp. I purchased a Kimber Tac Pro mag to see if they Taurus mag was the problem...Nope, same issue. So, I purchased a box of Hornady XTP 200 grain hp +p ammo...Same issue but doesn't occur as often. It only seems to occur when the mag is loaded up completely...After a couple rounds are gone, it cycles perfectly. I was told that this is a problem that will work itself out in time and with more rounds down the pipe...As of now, I only have about 100 rounds through her. I did manage to fire some hp ammo but it did not consistently feed... So, until this gun is a consistent digester of hp ammo, it will not be seeing duty in a CCW capacity. I will have to give that duty to my Glock 23 and Glock 27...
  9. Agreed...But, a more stable shooting platform you would be hard pressed to find. Plus, I added a Mercury Recoil Reducer to the stock bolt hole so mine is pretty well balanced.
  10. I would have it drilled and tapped by a smith and then have him mount a Weigand scope mount...Rock solid.
  11. If you are looking to Google it, spell it Hogue or go to www.getgrip.com BTW, I have one on my SBH Hunter in 44 Rem Mag...Feels great to shoot it with that grip on it.
  12. Lightfield 2 3/4" Hybred Sabot Slug...Shoots awesome out of my H&R 1871 Ultra Slugger Deluxe...
  13. Plenty of good opinions here...The only thing that I have to add is the following: Whatever you decide upon to protect your life, your family's lives, your home, your property, etc., you must be proficient with it. This means that you must practice with it...Moving with it, shooting it, getting it up and running...You need to get in to the fight in order to win it. If a person enters you home with intent to do you or your family harm, he is already ahead of you and you need to play catch up. A handgun is a convenient option but a shotgun would probably be better...
  14. Sharp looking gun...I sure do love my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in 44 Mag....
  15. Very nice pistol and very nice price...Congrats to you.
  16. I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in 44 Rem Mag...I love it.
  17. But, what do you want? Semi-auto, pump, bolt action, single shot? The setup that I am using with my single shot H&R Ultra Slug Hunter Deluxe in 12GA is worth about $350 give or take a little...Gun plus Bushnell Trophy 1.75-4x32 scope, rings, and a sling...You can then use the extra money to buy another gun or pick some ammo...Besides, do you really need more than one shot?
  18. I would buy some dummy rounds....Then, the next time you go to the range, put them in your mag mixed in with the live ammo...This will really tell you if you are dumping when shooting. If your barrel dips at the muzzle when you pull the trigger in a dummy round, you know you are anticipating the recoil and pushing the barrel down...This is also a good malfunction drill...If you pull the trigger on a dummy round, you need to clear it out before you can shoot another round...Clear it by tapping your support hand firmly on the bottom of the magazine, racking the slide, and reacquiring your sight picture and resume your firing. Of course, make sure that your muzzle is always pointed in a safe direction during this entire drill.
  19. There are two models...The standard and the deluxe...The deluxe has better sites, not the mil-spec variety. That being said, I would be curious where these 1911's were manufactured. If it were me, and I was looking for a low cost 1911...I would opt for the Para GI45 1911...It is bare bones, but it is a Para Ordnance, not an American Classic. Springfield also makes a Mil-Spec model as well...I would look in to these two before jumping for the one you saw locally. They will be slightly more expensive than what you have found but they already have an established corporation behind them...
  20. Glad to see that another person in is a proud holder of a pistol permit in NYS...How long did it take? I've been hearing estimates of 6 months to a year at least and some longer...I live in Niagara County and it is always faster than Erie County...The longer time frames have been for Erie County... I'm glad that I obtained my permit back in '04...Took 4 months back then...
  21. Nice...I have the GP100 with the 6" barrel...
  22. You'll enjoy that G19...I have three, a G22 (work gun), A G23 and a G27...All perform flawlessly. I also have night sites on all three...
  23. Nice shotgun...Should do a number on turkey if you do your part...
