Re: Throat question This is a new rifle less thatn 25 shots. I can seat a bullet just barely in and it wont touch. Im using long bullets too.

Can anyone tell me how deep the throat on a 7mm Ultra amg should be. I cant seat a bullet to touch the rifling.

Re: Interbonds & Accubonds Everything so far has dropped in their tracks. Hit it behind the shoulder and the bullet lodged in the off shoulder. I have never had a problem with bullets passing thru till I tried these and the Acubonds. Just courious why they dont make it though. I dont think I want to use them on elk. I like my arrows and bullets fully penetrating. I may give the new Barnes MRX's a try

Anyone use Interbonds or Accubonds? I havent had a pass thru with either. This bullet dropped my whitetail buck. Fired out of a 300 Rem Ultra mag @ 100 yds @3350 fps. Its a 180 grain Interbond. Weights 110.8 grains. Only difference I have found between the 2 bullets is that the Accubond sheds more weight. Just seems like these bullets would blow right thru at that weight and speed.

Re: 7mm-08 I purchased my wife a new Model 7 about 3 months ago. Its the stainless synthetic model with 20 inch barrel and it really immpressed me. I loaded some 154 grain Interonds for it and got about ¾inch grouped the first time around. Her first high powered rifle and she was shooting it like it was her 22. Took her to the woods and about 2 hours later she had a exceptional 5x5 on the ground. For the first time I think she new why I love hunting. She was shaking and I dont really think she has been that excited in awhile. I think I will buy me another in the 700 for myself next season and my daughter will be old enough to legally carry a gun next year so I may have to get 2

Re: Need your opinions on best 30.06 grain weight. I would go with the heaviest bullet possible. Light bullets seem to produce more meat damage. If you look at the ballistic charts the heavy bullet will have more energy downrange. Regular ballistic tips seem to be the worst for blow up and bloodshot meat.

Re: Shooting Sticks for a handgun? I would say Stoney Point and if you have patients buy them on ebay. I have a set of about everything they make and paid no more than $30 for the highest set. Just make sure you check the shipping charges especially if it has a postage calculator. You will find great price just to find out shipping is $25

Re: best rifle for $1000 Kimber is a nice gun. Either the 8400 Classic or the Montana stainless synthetic. I have the 8400 in 300 WSM and my wife has the Montana in 7mm-08. I think we paid $799 for the 8400 and $869 for the Montana.

Can anyone reccomend a taxidermist in Northern Idaho??? I have been to a few but havent seen the quality of work I want. Thanks!!

Got up this morning and hit the gas line. Didnt feel like going but went any way. He is a 10x9 and he has 2 broken tines. He has green paint on one antler and red on the other. He had been rubbing metal fence post! [image][/image]

Re: Custom rifle help I was looking hard at HS Precision rifle before you posted AJ. Now I'm where I was a few weeks ago. I didn't know all these smiths existed. Clay Spencer's shop was 20 miles from my house when I lived in Virginia and never heard anyone mention him and never knew he was there. Looks like a need to chill and do some research. I'm wanting an extremely accurate hunting rifle more than likely chambered in the 300 RUM. Thanks for the help guys

I need some ideas on a custom rifle. I know I want it chambered in one of the following, 300 Win mag, 300 WSM, 300 Rem Ultra or a 338 Rem Ultra. Who would you look to do it. I want a Rem 700 action and I can even supply it. I want it built right! I have a budget of about $5000. I had planned on a Christensen Arms rifle but have had many to tell me to stay away. Any help is appreciated!!

I know yo must have a ffl to manufacture ammo and that includes reloading for someone else.

I can go with the 28 inch barrel no problem. Can you tell me what the best barrel I can buy? I dont care to spend the extra cash! Also I amneed of a new stock. It now has a factory synthetic. Where can I look at the stock with the aluminum bedding block? Thanks!!!

Re: Elk Hunting 2005 - 2006 Rifle season started here Monday. Wife saw 3 cows 3 calves and a bull Monday morning. The bull hung back behind the cows in the brush and she said she could see its head and antlers. This is here first year hunting and I wish she could of taken a shot. Im proud of her that she didnt. I guess they finally winded me and left. I was down the hill about 150 yards from her and the wind was blowing their way. She said they were looking in my direction andwas acting nervous. Whell after 13 years of being married I think I finally have my hunting partner that was so hard to find. We have hunted everyday since and havent seen another. Today I told her I was aching so we stayed in I think she needs a break. She is a nurse and not in the best of shape but she did put in 30+ mile in those 3 days and the country here is really rugged and steep.

Re: 7mm Ultra Mag I use the 154 grain Interbond infront of 93.5 grains of RL 25. .2gr under max. Chrono @ 3340 fps. 1-1 1/2 inch groups with this loading and its the only one I have tried. I plan on playing with it after hunting season I want to try H1000 but every time I go to the shop they are out of it. They told me they carry it but for about 6 months now I havent been able to get it. I have 4 rifles in the 7 Ultra and I have one that is starting to loose its accuracy which I will have rebarreled to a 300 Ultra.
