    Scored Today!

Re: Scored Today! I don't think I've ever seen in the field photos taken by a game cam before lol congrats.
  2. I wouldn't bother, I'd bet it isn't gonna work any better than any of the current products like Deer Cane, or salt blocks. I saw a advertisment for it a while back, it looks like a scam. Hank Parker is probably laughing all the way to the bank. I was one of those idiots that bought the Banjo Minnow, (what a piece of crap, never caught a single fish on it) I'm not falling for one of these TV ad scams again.

    Must See Movies?

Re: Must See Movies? it does look good, as long as it's not like that FX series "Over There" and is actually realistic it should be pretty good.

    Must See Movies?

Re: Must See Movies? I'm kind of a Sci-Fi/Thriller kinda guy, there's a little bit of everything in my DVD collection though, here's some of my favorites. Silence of the Lambs-can't believe this wasn't mentioned earlier. Red Dragon Caddyshack The Bone Collector Predator Tremors Ghostbusters Alien Aliens The Ghost and the Darkness LOTR Trilogy Jaws Star Wars Trilogy Black Hawk Down I'm a DVD addict, my collection is still somewhat small, but here it the whole list: http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=1&id=tsmola (my monster buck DVDs aren't listed, they weren't in the database)
  7. my dad saw a big one running a doe ragged in a cornfield on his way to a job yesterday. Some of my favorite hunts are the ones where the doe comes barreling in and then you hear a low "urp urp urp" and here comes a buck hot on her tail. Really gets your heart racing when they come out of nowhere like that and dissapear just as quickly. I had a buck on the chase that completely ignored my grunts and even yells trying to stop it for a shot.

    Tonys 10 point

Re: Tonys 10 point Beautiful buck! He's not gonna lose a whole lot in deductions, he's nearly perfect! you said you couldn't belive he grossed 146 with only a 14 in spread, looks like he got most of that score out of the long tines. Very pretty buck, I love the tall ones like that.
  9. Re: MY FIRST BUCK AND HES A BRUTE! congrats, that's a dandy. My first buck was a 10 point too.
  10. Re: Muzzleoader scopes I've got a Nikon Prostaff made for shotguns on my Omega, and I love it so far. My ml actually slipped and fell off my tailgate yesterday, however my next shot was touching the last one. It looks like they can really take a beating.
  11. Re: What\'s a big deer in your area... weight wise? around here, a mature buck usually weighs around 175-200 live weight.
  12. Re: My uncle got a nice one I'll be sure and tell him, I know one thing I'm pumped for the firearm opener on the 15th now. Gonna finish sighting in my new Omega this afternoon. Can't wait to take it out in the field, we didn't get many game cam pics of bucks this summer, so there may be more bucks like this we don't know about, we'll have to wait and see.
  13. Re: Scored My First Buck hey cool, I thought it looked funny that it got that many deductions when all the tines are near the same length, it's a pretty 6 point, that 9 point is really nice too!
  14. Re: Scored My First Buck where did all the deductions come from? That rack may be small, but it's nearly perfect, I would expect less deductions.
  15. Re: Inexpensive Shotgun? yeah go with a 12 gauge 870. Great gun. Little bit more pricey than some other kinds you can get, but not too bad. 20 gauge will work, but I think 16 or 12 will be a better choice.
  16. Re: My uncle got a nice one he hasn't put a tape to him yet, but I'm guessing he'll net in the high 140's possibly 150 He's a bit larger than a 10 point I took in 2003. That one I shot scored 140 4/8 with a broken tine, this one is near perfect so he's not gonna have many deductions.
  17. Re: My uncle got a nice one They thought he weighed around 170, I dunno know for sure, that's what my dad said I didn't ask when I saw it.
  18. Re: My uncle got a nice one a few more pics close up of some of the character to his brow tines. This is one thing that's been passed on in the genes for years in our area now is large browtines, often with little kickers or other junk on them just like this. Oh, and for those wondering, yes that hole is where he was hit, he was a little disappointed the shot wasn't the greatest on him, he made it about 250 yards before he went down. But at least he recovered him!
  19. Re: North American Whitetail Hall of Fame pics thanks for the comments on the pics, I've seen piebalds in the wild, but never one that white.
  20. He shot this 10 point last night, just a beautiful buck. This is his 3rd P&Y class buck.
  21. Re: North American Whitetail Hall of Fame pics thanks, yeah not only does he have monster bucks there, but the sheer number of and variety of deer antlers with various deformities he has is equally incredible. here's a few more of the live deer http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof29.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof30.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof31.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof32.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof33.jpg
  22. Me and my dad went to Cabela's over in Dundee today, (I've posted pics of Cabela's before so I'm not gonna this time)I picked up some cool stuff, but on the way back we stopped at the Whitetail hall of fame, not the first time I've been there, but the first time I've been there with my digital and have gotten so many great photos. These are such nice photos I've not resized them too much, some are cropped in order to keep the quality, it's impossible to make a web version as nice as the originals. They are pretty large, but they are some good ones. The first few are of this guy's live deer, the large non-typical was around 17 points I believe, he almost got in a fight with the 8 pointer there. I'm posting these as links because they will bog a post down if they are displayed. Note in the 3rd image, the big non-typical is actually rub-urinating. If you've ever looked at one of those weird whitetails magazines and seen all the freaky racks, you can see examples of very similar ones here and much, much more. It's amazing how many antlers this guy has, and most are laying out in the deer pens! I took mostly pics of sheds for my website. But you'll see a few familar famous bucks in some of the photos, he has replicas of a lot of famous deer. http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof1.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof2.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof3.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof4.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof5.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof6.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof7.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof8.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof9.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof10.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof11.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof12.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof13.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof14.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof15.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof16.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof17.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof18.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof19.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof20.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof21.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof22.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof23.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof24.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof25.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof26.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof27.jpg http://www.shedantlers.net/wthof28.jpg I have more I'll probably post later, I took over 60 photos at the hall of fame alone.
  23. Re: Whos rattling? I've been rattling since opening morning, I started with really really light rattling, I've slowly been intensifying it though. I don't go by what others say the deer are doing on a message board unless I see they are from near my area because this varies so much from place to place. I've never had a deer respond to rattling, had them look, but never had them respond so I've basically been doing it on a trial-and-error basis this year since I've done it very little in the past.
  24. Re: Does fighting for bucks????????? I see doe fights over food and dominance all the time, I'd never heard of does fighting for bucks before though. In this area I don't think does are too worried about that, we've got a pretty decent buck to doe ratio. I've often seen multiple bucks chasing one doe, so she's got her pick pretty much lol
  25. Re: Fletching colors? I'm using green and white this year, however I'm down to one arrow, I used a model paint pen to add a band of yellow between the nock and end of the fletching to hopefully make it more visible.
