  1. Re: Minnesota Vikings Last Chance I agree, GO VIKKINGS and GO Randy Moss, GO FAR FAR AWAY to a team far far away. Trade bait, Moss for 2 water cooler, 3 footballs, a use mouth piece and maybe just maybe, a Cowboy's cheerleader uniform. P.S. If we get the Cowboy's cheerleader uniform, I got dibs!!!!
  2. Re: Vang Vs. the State of Wisconsin: Any Comments? get a rope
  3. Re: Looking to buy a muzzelloader, any suggestions? Have an encore and am considering an omega. Only difference is the stock or length of pull. The encore fits me much better than an omega. If and when I do purchase the omega, it will have the stock chopped by my local gunsmith. Our Sportsman's Warehouse has the stainless flutted barrel omega with the bland black stock for $389. Might have to live with the black synthetic stock at that price!
  4. Re: Rate the rut... Was there a rut this year? More like a prom night - one shot and over.
  5. Re: new gun Shooting 25 for 20 years, started with Remington Core-lokt 120, then moved to the Federal 117 grain Sierra Game Kings, now shoot the Federal 115 NP. Bought Hornady 117 SST's on an internet sale, don't shoot worth a crap in my Ruger. Have at least 2 boxes left, worthless stuff IMO.
  6. Re: Remington \"Fine-Line Engraving\" Discontinued???? Had the opposite problem here in MN - couldn't find a "smooth" 7600. Scheel's sporting goods stores in the midwest seem to be carrying AJ's factory scratched guns.
  7. Re: This dont look good Ok, my season's over so I'm living this with you! What's the up date? Good news I hope.
  8. Re: Good Hunt (pic) No wonder we can't find a duck in MN, your shooting all the hens!!!
  9. Re: Wood Ducks Doesn't make a difference what the limit is MN, no ducks around to shoot! Supposed limit is 2, but we were lucky to see that many a day this year. Really sucks after you spend the winter making 35 boxes and hanging them up with the other 50 that were already on the property. Did I mention this is over 5 miles of oak river bottom? Used to be prime woodie territory. Anyway, duck numbers don't affect the amount of smoke our DNR is allowed to blow up our hind ends with reports every spring of "record mallard hatch" , "most woodies since time began", etc.....
  10. Re: Barrel corrosion? Zoo - what's a lead screen??? Sounds like this may be my problem. A buddy did use this gun last weekend (I was with him) and he shot the lead PowerBelts out the gun whereas I've shot the jacketed bullet. Seems awful quick to get that much lead in the barrel, but at this point I'll try anyting. Come to think of it, he did shoot like 15 times at targets/deer.
  11. Re: Robert Ferguson closelined... Hope he's ok, but as a Viking fan, I hope he recovers for NEXT YEAR!!!! Don't think it was a dirty play, just an instinctive kind of move to swat the ball out the receivers hands. Funny thing is, most Packer fans would have thought Favre could've just "laid hands" on Ferguson and healed him!
  12. Re: The \"S\" Word My dad coached most sports when I was "growing up". I of course tagged along from the time of 7-8 as bat boy, ball boy, etc... Those high school kids sure enjoyed showing me all their "anatomy" magazines in the back of the bus!!! They also took the liberty to explain a lot about details. I'd have to say I was pretty educated by the time I was 10-11. Don't have kids, but I'd sure make every efort to start teaching them enough before some other kids began filling their heads.
  13. Re: Barrel corrosion? I'm not ducking you questions, just a little absent minded and distracted. Until 2 years ago (I've had the gun 4 years) I used the Hoppe's oil in my rifle cleaning kit. Last and this year its Inhibitor V80. As for the Queens, I'd agree they aren't going far. Seem they can't make up their minds to run Smith or Bennett. Bennett's a mistake, first of he's from Wisconsin, second he's one of those porcelin "track guys". Geez, send Moss deep... go figure? Anyway, my real team is Indianpolips!!! Go Payton, Marvin "the martian", Edgerin and Stokely!!!
  14. Re: Sako and Tikka rifles, RECALL!!! Does this happen often in gun manufacturing? Don't ever recall a SAKO/TIKKA recall prior to Beretta taking over!
  15. Re: Barrel corrosion? Now that the gun is clean (but apparently disintegrating before my eyes), I'll wait to lap until later this winter. Not too concerned about the elbow grease as I have approximately 3 hours already invested in: solvent patch, brush, solvent patch, clean patch, clean patch, bore light, ... solvent patch, brush, solvent patch, clean patch, clean patch, bore light... curse, whine, cry... solvent patch, brush, etc.... ... look for new barrel (mayber a .45) on Gunbroker. com!
  16. Re: Barrel corrosion? Almost wish you guy would've won...almost! Good game I suppose, sure sucks to be your long snapper. Thanks for the information, I'm starting to wonder if the more I clean, the more the imperfections are being revealed. Maybe these spots were "glossed over" with residue or "seasoned" to the point I've never noticed them. Anyway, the rifling looks sound and you can't really see the inside of the barrel. As long as the gun still shoots I'm in business! P.S. Does it sound like I'm tyring to convince myself the problem was there when I bought the gun?
  17. Re: Barrel corrosion? I guess I was too busy trying to respond before my Vikings kick the blue crap out of your Lions!!! Yes I do use the brass brush and clean the oil/solvent out of the barrel with Windex, the dry the barrel before applying the oil. Thanks for the JB paste info.
  18. Re: Barrel corrosion? T7 last year - hated it! Pyrodex in all other cases, including this year. I've found this gun to be much more accurate shooting pyro. As for the corrosion, I'm at wits-end. I'm starting to wonder if all these BP guns start to do this eventually. I'd given my left little finger to keep my BP barrels as bright shiny and flawless as my centerfires. Think lapping would remove some of this is or it too late. Almost thinking it may be too late to remove this crust!
  19. Re: Platinum tips are working great What are platinum tips? Are these the same bullets as loaded in Winchester slugs???
  20. Just cleaned my Encore barrel after the seaon. It seems that after every cleaining, more and more corrosion appears in the barrel. I clean between shots in the field with a wet TC patch followed by dry patches. After firing multiple shots in a day, I remove the plug and completely clean the barrel. I cleaned the barrel with CVA's plastic removing solvent. Followed that with Butch's Bore Shine to further remove powder and copper fouling. Finally ran patches with oil down the barrel. 2 days after this celaning process, I look down with a bore light and see these patches of what have to be corrosion. Actually it looks like melted lead in blotches about the diameter of .22 bullet. Most of this appears to be in the last 3 inches of the barrel. I'm used to some corrosion near the breech since that was there when I bought the barrel used (1 year old). This is driving me crazy. I can see if I shot, ran a patch or 2 and stored the gun, but I do clean the guns and well, or at least I thought so. Any suggestions or remedy? Do you think lapping would remove some of these spots? The rifling looks great, just the crap in the groves and near the muzzle. Go figure?
  21. Re: Not sure which inline to buy I'm voting TC as first choice (Encore or Omega), Remington 700 ML as second choice.
  22. Anyone trying this product, either loose or "sticks"? I'm interested in your results and/or opinions.
  23. Re: GIANT IOWA Whitetails You'd really rather hunt mule deer than soak up the sun in Jamaica? 1 bdrom, 2 bath, full kitchen,....
  24. Re: Powerbelts and T/CEncore 295's over 2-50 grain pyrodex pellets for some reason shoot better than the 777 for me.
  25. Re: GIANT IOWA Whitetails Consider a week at a time-share in Jamaica for the hunt???
