  1. Re: Mission Accomplished ? The reason the republicans run against Clinton is that he's still the heart and soul of the dems. And - they will probably be running against a Clinton in '08.
  2. Re: deer guns I use a Remington Model 700 in 25-06 that I bought new in 1972. The rifle, 2-7 Redfield scope and mounts cost me $200. I've shot over 30 deer with it over the years. I also sometimes use my Dad's 30-30 or a Winchester model 88 308.
  3. Re: Exapansion of TC shockwaves I have some experience with the Hornady SST 250 gr bullet. It is very similar to the Shockwave. I shot a doe a couple of weeks ago and recovered the bullet after it passed through all but the skin on the far shoulder. The bullet expanded to an oval shape 0.715" x 0.980" and retained 173.6 gr weight. I thought that was excellent performance.
  4. Re: Power belt stories wanted!!! I tried to develop a powerbelt load for my Winchester X-150 but could not. It probably had something to do with how loose the PB were in my bore. I could start them down the bore with my thumb and could push them down using very little pressure with my ramrod. I tried Knight sabots as well as T/C Shockwaves and Hornady SSTs. I am now using the SSTs with very good results.
  5. Re: Great customer service I work about 6 mi from Keystone Country Store. The other day I went over at lunch time. I had bought a packof powerbelt bullets there, but I couldn't get them to shoot well in my inline, so they excahnged them for me - no questions. They just checked to see that I had not opened that pack. I agree they have good service.
  6. Re: which bullet to you shoot? Winchester X-150 using (2) 50 gr 777 pellets under a 250 gr Hornady SST.

Re: Montana Thu muley buck at teh left was from MT last November. I wish I were going again this fall, but it's not happening. I have some friends that are going week after next. The reports they are getting is that the past winter, although a hard one, did not have a negative effect on the mule deer herd. Antelope got hit hard though.
  8. I went out with my Winchester X-150 on Saturday and shot this doe. [image]http://www.realtree.com/img/2/7106ML_Deer_2004-med.jpeg[/image] I shot her through the front shoulders, breaking both, with a Hornady SST in 240 grain using (2) 50 gr 777 pellets. The bullet performed perfectly, lodging uner the skin on the far side. The slug expanded to an oblong shape measuring .715" x .980" and weighed 173.8 grains for approx 70% weight retention. My son the taxidermist wants to display her so I helped him cape and flesh a couple of deer he's working on the rest of the day. Anyone know why the picture doesn't show up?
  9. I just got my letter from the Dept of Interior that my son and I were drawn for the Sika hunt at Chincoteague Wildlife refuge. Our dates are January 13 and 14. We have to go for orientation on January 12. This will be our first hunt there. There were 401 applications and 167 were drawn. We'll be the only two hunters in our zone.
  10. Re: Hornady SST I am using the 240 gr SSTs. I tried to get some of the APP sticks, but the closest three places are about 50 miles from home. I tried two on Saturday, but neither carried it any more.
  11. Re: What a race ! If you look at the driver standings you will see that the top 10 drivers have won 27 of 35 races and that the average is for 5 of them to be in the top ten every race.
  12. I'm using Hornady SSTs in my Winchester X-150. I've been shooting the last several weekends trying to get my rifle to group with powerbelts - no luck. Today I tried Knight sabots, TC Shockwaves and Hornady SSTs. I got two 2" groups at 100 yd with the SST in 10-15 mph swirling winds. That's good to me after seeing 8" groups with powerbelts. All were over two 50 gr pellets of 777.
  13. Re: Low Carb Diet I started low carbs on 4-14-03 and weighed 216 on 5'8" height. As of this morning I weighed 189. The diet is coupled with a brisk 2 mile walk every morning. I feel better than I have in years. I am headed to 165 and need to take the weight off before my Montana mule deer trip in November.
