We got pictures of over 50 does (some repeats) over the last 4 weeks, and 3 bucks, but here are some of the cooler pictures we collected. Tell me this turkey doesnt look just a tad bit worried... This is not our biggest buck, but our best pic... hopefully he makes it till next year... And we may have not gotten a 150 class buck on our cams, but tell me this isnt a 150 class tongue! Look at that thing...

Terry and Mark Drury are my two of my favorite hunters to watch. Waddell and Stan Potts are up there as well. As far as i'm concerned though, the Drury videos are the best.

I have decent luck with public land in the first 2 weeks of the season. They figure it out after that and head underground. You really cant beat public land if its in a good area. Just my two cents. Although any 200 incher would make me think twice as well..

Thats great news! I cant help it, but i think Illinois DNR is pretty awesome. They dont seem to disappoint me very often.

As for the clover, it's been very wet here lately. We got a storm with a couple of inches along with a few other storms in the past few weeks. My only thought is that maybe it just took the clover longer to establish since it's a perennial. Again, just a thought. Thanks oneida

I just got back from my farm after checking on my small hunting plots. The concensus is that the brassicas seem to be coming up fine, but there are areas where weeds are taking over. The Brassicas are only about 3-5 inches tall and are only 3 weeks old. Would it be beneficial to weed whack the small areas or would that actually do more harm than good to my young plants? Also i've noticed the clover i mixed in is only growing in the more shaded areas, and the brassicas only in the sun. I cant find any clover in the middle of my plot, just on the outsides by the treeline? Is that normal? Anyways, on my next trip up to the farm i'm going to overseed the bare areas with some Thro N' Gro to fill it in. I know mowing is a good way to reduce weeds when the plot is a little older, but im scared of destroying my young plot. Let me know what you think, and soon, i'm going back in a couple of days. Thanks for the help with my first plots guys, you've made it much easier on me. Hopefully it'll come together.

Before you guys buy it, beware, i havent seen the results yet. I planted Maxirack's blend called "Buck Nip" and i mixed in some clovers, chicory, and ryegrass. I wont be able to see the results till next week and ill try and take a few pics for everyone. Although i found Cooperseeds.com from a similar thread posted a week or two ago in this forum. The person (i forget who) planted the "Kitchen Sink" and "Ice Cream" blends in two different spots and both of the plots looked beautiful. Hope this helps!

Im terrible at guessing scores, but that bucks very very nice. I would say he should push 145 or 150 if he gets the tine length. Although lets see what everyone else thinks. Either way he's a shooter.

Looks like you've got yourself quite a gameplan. Hope it all comes together for you during the season. you dont hear of many waterfowl plots, but makes sense to me, they gota eat too. Hopefully the rain cooperates for you and you can benefit from your work. Good luck buddy!

I've heard great things about Oats in the early season. Also, there are winter blends out there that contain a lot of brassicas that are great for after the first frost. I would say Dogdoc has a good mixture mentioned. As for inexpensiveness, i've found www.maxirack.com and www.cooperseeds.com to sell some fairly inexpensive blends. Good luck and let us know what you decide to go with.

what a series of pics. Should get you plenty jacked up for the season. Cant lie, im jealous.

OK fair enough then. I ended up going with black and royal blue. I was sort of put on the spot and figured that could look sorta cool. The shop owner was trying to convince me to go with electric green and hot pink. I was a little skeptical haha... We'll see how it looks in a few days.

Well after reading all these posts, we decided to throw in a little biologic full draw and another mixture of clover, ryegrass, and chicory. We figure we'll throw everything in and see what grows. Especially since we dont have more than an acre total planted and it sounds like thats a weeks worth of brassicas for them. The good news there is there are 15 acres of corn and 25 acres of alfa alfa on our 225 acre farm in addition to our 3 seperate 1/3 acre hunting plots. I think there should be plenty of food around. I need to get some pictures up eventually for you guys to criticize, haha jk. I actually havent seen the pltos since we planted since our land is 3 hours away.

I just dropped my bow off to get a new vapor trail string put on. I'm wondering if 70 bucks sounds reasonable since i know very little about the technical part of bowhunting. I asked the guy what other types they could order and the guy said they are all pretty comparable in price but not in performance, but i didnt really believe him. Just sounded fishy, but just curious more so for the fact that i want to know if i can trust my local archery shop. Thanks for any input.

I feel your pain. Last time i went to check my cam i had 88 events. Was extremely excited until i got home and realized i had it pointing directly into the west and had 88 pictures of the sunset.... learned that one the hard way. Frustrating but nothing you can do at that point.

I've been working my hardest ever this year. Started with food plots, put up several stands and have 3 cameras out at all times. I'm hoping all this work is going to pay off on our farm, but it's work i enjoy doing. Got one or two more stands to put up, then a few shooting lanes to take care of. Other than that, i'm pretty much done. Just sitting back and watching the food plots sprout.

I have a few of the wildviews. Our Wildview 1 broke. It just doesnt trigger anymore. The wildview 2 takes good pictures, and i just put out a Wildview 4, but have not seen the pictures yet. Supposed to be extremely good. Other than the basic one, i've been very happy with them so far.

that looks awesome buddy. Should be a deer hot spot. I'm hoping my plots end up half that good. Nice work

Those drury team members are some of the classiest guys i've seen hunt. Granted, on the land they hunt, if they pass up one monster, another monster will present itself in a day or two. It amazes me how much discipline those guys have, but they reap the benefits. Those videos have become my favorite series. There is one hunt where a Dream Season amateur is invited to the Drury farm and takes a bad shot angle on a nice buck on video. Mark Drury got extremely fired up and let this amateur know about it. The poor hunter felt so bad for upsetting Mark and possibly injuring the deer, he was brought to tears when they did recover the deer the next morning. These guys arent joking about their ethics.

Couple good lookin bucks.. too bad that other one had it's head down, bet he was a decent buck as well. Good luck on that front one though, should be a beauty.

Nice wide rack. G2's have been sprouting for about a week on my cams, but not quite as wide as this deer. Good lookin buck.

I am in the middle of planting 3 food plots and putting up new stands, which is only making it harder to wait for october. I cant wait either...

sorry for the confusion, but i sprayed the day before i tilled. Then i tilled it up, and sprayed it again with the leftover spray. So weeds shouldnt be a problem. As for the brassicas, i guess i should look into mixing in some other types of plants to keep deer coming back. I'll keep everyone updated... Any ideas for a good mixer i would consider, or anything that WONT work with brassicas.

I know it's very tough... The second set seems almost past his ears and is sprouting a g2. Wasnt sure if that was able to happen in 4 days time or not. Hopefully we can clear the problem with more pics over the next week or two. Thanks for tryin guys, i'll let you know what i come up with..
