heckuva fan on that guy! -
Hey guys, sold my bow a couple years ago with no time to archery hunt. After a couple years away I missed it too badly. Just picked up a Ross Cardiac 37 on AT last week. Can anyone catch me up a bit on rests and recommend one? I had a biskit before but want something fall away on this bow that has atleast a bit of protection to keep the arrow from falling off. Bow should be here later this week. I'm excited to get it all setup.

2009 Maine Turkey Hi Guys, I've been away from here for a while. Just wanted to share my 2009 turkey, taken yesterday morning. Got him at about 20yd with my Mossberg 835. He came in hot to the Two Timer mouth call and the pretty boy decoy drove him nuts. 19.5lb, 8 1/8 beard, 7/8 spurs. My best one yet.

Re: When are the deer moving in the NE? I haven't seen much this year either. I think they're moving primarily at night. Jumped a big doe in an apple orchard Saturday morning, but that's all I've seen all year. Nothing in the afternoons. I seem to be bumping them in the morning.

Re: less than 48 hours! good luck all. gotta get em early on Saturday before it warms up. You other mainers seeing many acorns where you are? they're everywhere up my way. lots of beech nuts too. hopefully the buck in my avatar will be on the ground in less than 24 hrs.

Re: Southern Maine Expanded archery hunters I can understand the reasons for this change. When the expanded archery zones/program were originally introduced a few years back it was with the intention of reducing deer populations in suburban/heavily populated areas where deer numbers were growing and causing accidents/destruction and where rifle hunting was either not allowed or not doing the trick for management. At no point did the state every say this was a permanent program and I do recall them saying the areas may be adjusted as deer numbers changed. One area I'm expecting a change up in Auburn is where they recently pushed back the no firearms discharge zone so they'll need the expanded archery zone to push back to cover that.

Re: Southern Maine Expanded archery hunters I heard about them shrinking the zone down around Saco, I think it was zone 24. that stinks man. I would definitely consider NH an alternative with the Sunday hunting and all. Not sure if you have been reading the Maine Sportmsan, but major changes are on the horizon for next season and one of them may allow you to get two deer during the regular (or bow) season. They're talking about giving you your regular tag in addition to if you get drawn for a doe tag.

Re: Just got my Copper John in I'm not crazy about mine. It's a pain to adjust the pins individually and they are not very bright. hope you like yours.

Re: 2005 Season In Review (Video) that's one of the coolest hunting related videos I've seen. It's real. It's not canned or made to look like something it's not. Very good job. I'm curious, what camera did you use to take the still photos. The quality is unreal. You obviously know what you're doing from a photographic standpoint, but I'm curious about the equipment as well. I wouldn't be suprised if Hoyt would be interested in some of those shots for advertising.

Re: Mossberg 535 I like the turkey/waterfowl combo. It looks like it only comes in MOBU. Wish I could get it in Realtree HD Green or Max4
-
I'm thinking of purchasing a dedicated turkey gun rather than using the one 12 gauge I currently have for everything. Camo taping every year is getting to be a pain. Does anyone have one of the new Mossberg 535's yet? For $389 the Hardwoods Green turkey model does not look too bad - http://www.mossberg.com/model535.htm

Re: He is just making sure i can count I'd have to disagree on that being the same buck. The one above is a forkhorn with brow tines. The 2nd one has 6 points without being able to see the brows. definitely a different deer.

Re: Coon hound Here's teh B&T classifieds on the UKC site: http://www.ukcdogs.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=9035b9cdc10fb4c6c85f92b5d37f4251&forumid=21 You may find a pup in your area on there. I've had redbones and walkers. my step-dad had a black & tan for a while. As far as temperment for a pet like you're talking about they should be fine as long as they're trained. like any other hunting dog, they have a natural instinct to hunt so they will howl and back, especially if they scent something they like.

Re: hunting in the rain welcome fellow Mainer. I feel your pain with all this rain. My advice, get out and turkey hunt while it's raining and the season is open this week.

Re: what kind of realeases are the best Tru Ball in my opinion is the best. I love my Tornado, but would try the new copperhead as well.
