I discussed this with someone who is in my Gender and Society class a couple of weeks ago. Now, I am no Brad Pitt, but I was looking at pictures of myself from after Basic Training, and I am amazed at how different I look now, I was thinner and stronger, but all that time driving a truck " beefed " me up, I feel I am a decent looking guy, but the weight problem is what would hamper me, anyhoo, if I were to catcall a girl at school, which would be a big nono since I am an employee of that school anyway, I would probably get a nasty comment and probably a slap, but the guys at the school who are athletes could do the same thing and the girl would probably come over and treat them like a king. I've never made a catcall, at least out loud anyway, cause I am shy by nature but I also feel it is demeaning to the girl in question. I would rather be nice to all of them and treat them all the same, I just may look at some of them a little longer than others.

I met him a few years ago and hoped to be able to talk to him since the both of us are from Florida and he grew up in Lakeland and we have family there and such. He was the rudest driver I have ever met and acted like where he was, was the last place he wanted to be. There wasn't many people at the Chevy dealer he was at and all he was doing was signing those cards and handing them over his shoulder and not looking at anyone or saying hello or thank you and acted completely put out by me talking about being from Florida. After that day, I swore I never wanted to see him win another race and coudn't care less where his career went. Even though I pull for Gordon, I generally like all the drivers, even Junior, and I would have rather have seen Junior win Sunday than " Front Row " Joe. I have met more than one driver, and he was the worst, with Ken Schrader coming up behind, the nicest I have met, Spencer and Brett Bodine, Ricky Rudd was pretty cool, at least he would say hello and shake your hand, he's pretty short though, thats what is surprising. I just don't understand why some guys act the way they do. I guess some haven't realized that the fans are the reason they have a job and all that money.

[/ QUOTE ] I understand where you're coming from HuntinginMaine, which, I guess I have missed the boat somewhere cause this is the first time I have realized you were a woman. Unfortunately, the religion has gotten to far into the whole second class citizen ways, but, if you look deep into other religions and cultures, women are treated the same way. Christianity says that women should be silent, not speak out in church, dress modestly, be subserviant, the fact that most Christian denominations don't follow this practice is a question for another time. Even in the birth of this great nation, women were looked at as second class citizens, 100 years ago you wouldn't be allowed to vote in the upcoming Presidential election. As far as being comfortable with your body or what you wear, do you not feel it demeanig to be gawked at, I know obviously some women do not as evidenced by some of their professions. What I can't stand , is the woman who dresses scantily around town and then complains about being stared at, when the whole purpose of dressing the way they do is to get looked at, there are plenty at my school where I work and go to class, and it's tough not to look because of my job there, but the line had to be drawn for everyone, do you look and admire, or do you look and catcall, I think that is what is most demeaning to women, not so much the looks, cause lets face it, a girl knows if she is hot or not, but when she is subjected to taunts and innuendos is when it goes too far. There are some that would say she deserves it because of the way she dresses, but I don't feel that way. Just because she dresses half nude, doesn't mean she is a skank, although the chances are likely to go higher in that respect, it doesn't necessarily mean that. I wold much rather everyone focus on what good points someone has rather than making a judgement on them based on their looks, politics, intelligence or religion.

[/ QUOTE ] It's not just Guard and Reserve, it's Active Duty also, I know when I was in Basic there was a numner of guys that were in only for the Education benefits, and chose jobs that they didn't think was at risk for sending them into combat. Not combat like the Army or Marines, but having to go into war zones and support operations. There was one guy who was going into some type of computer field in the Air Force and he didn't think he would have to serve in a war zone if required. I knew where my job would take me. I was in Air Transportation, and these guys need to get their equipment, bombs going off alongside the flightline or not.

Re: Digital vs. Film My fiance has a 2.0 MP Kodak and the pic quality is much better than a film camera, I still like film mainly because I like to have the physical pics to look at, but the way things are now you can download your digi pics and have them printed out.

Yeah... I wasn't all that impressed with that either, he looked like a big buffoon doing all that, only politician I have seen that celebrated going from 1st to 3rd when it all came down to it. Congrats to John Kerry and John Edwards fopr moving up...I am a diehard Bush supporter, but I hope John Edwards get the nomination..he's a good man.

He has the career hits record as well as other accomplishments, noone is even close to breaking the all time hits record so far. I wonder if someone does eventually break the record, if there will be an asterisk next to his name if Pete Rose is not reinstated.

Re: Pete Rose So, Pete Rose bet on baseball, who gives a crap. I personally didn't believe that he had until he admitted it. The fact is that MLB is setting the wrong example and has been for years. How many players have been tested positive for drug use,many, and they are allowed back time and time again. Pete Rose bet on baseball and he's banned for life, gimme a break. Babe Ruth was an alcoholic and he's in the HoF, Mickey Mantle wasn't a saint and died of his problems of drinking too much, he's in the HoF. Hey Kids, smoke, drink, snort coke or do whatever and you are guaranteed a long career in baseball. If you place a bet on a game, god help you, your life is over. Doesn't make a lot of sense does it.

Re: Need some Luck! Good luck to ya, I have to so the same here in NC, the public land I hunt on has a 4 week season, thur,fri and sat. and they only issue 15 permits for the weekend. The NC wildlife website says you have a 13% chance of drawing a turkey permit, my lucks not that good.
