  1. Re: 30 Foot Ladder Stand or Climbing Sticks I guess I'll just stick with my Cabela's Trophy Cable Elite. It has a bigger platform than any Summit and only weighs a pound more. This is what mine looks like but, it's aluminum and is 22 lbs compaired this stainless steels 32 lbs. 3 years ago I think I paid around $200 for it too. I think I may bye a Summit seat to replace mine with. Their's is much nicer seat. I may get those stirrups and side bags too. Then I'll have a half a Summit. My current stand has always been a comfortable and secure stand that isn't too heavy and easily packable. I guess I'll stick with her and just give her some upgrades. Thanks everyone.
  2. Re: So, do decoys really work (pics)? I will always use my Renzo feeding doe, I've used it twice and it's worked twice.
  3. Re: Scentlok or no scentlok??? I think they work. I 've had deer walk right on the same path I used and never know it. Then again, that happened before I got Scent Blocker too. I am not one to use a cover scent on my scent blocker. I use White Lightning. I use nothing with a scent since the suit will begin to absorb that scent and become saturated. I strive for a more scent free outcome. I store everything in a big rubbermaid bin. My pack, long underwear, pants, shirt, boots, harness, underwear, socks, eveything. I spray everything before it goes in the bin and when it comes out. I especially spray in to the boots. It works well for me. I have note been winded a single time since using these methods. I go to the woods in sweats and change at the truck.
  4. Re: Its time for my yearly tresspassers issue to hit. My dad is a game warden here and he loves jerking half hitches in peoples butts for tresspassing. As far as which agency should take care of this, DNR should since it's hunting related. If they were riding four wheels down your driveway I'd call the locals or staties. I think you should spot and stalk them, call "The Man", get it on video, and tell him if he doesn't cite them, you're going to his boss. He has to do something for you. That's rediculous.
  5. Re: 30 Foot Ladder Stand or Climbing Sticks I always go up to atleast 30 feet. I can see more and they see me less, hopefully anyway.
  6. Re: scent free tooth paste??? Wear a Scent Blocker face mask. I don't do anything special for my breath other than that.
  7. Re: 30 Foot Ladder Stand or Climbing Sticks Well, I use a climber right now. I have used climbers for 15 years. I was hoping to get a hang on because of the bigger foot platform. The largest foot platform on a climber I have seen is from Summit.

    Tips

Re: Tips Use a natural funnel and set up a stand just down wind from it.
  9. Re: Wear your safety harness! … Trust me! Summit will probably replace it for free. I think they are like seat belts. Once the fabric gets stretched, replace it. Glad your okay. My dad fell out of my uncles climber a few years ago. My uncle replaced the factory bolts with stainless steel ones. One sheared off and my dad fell 15 feet. He broke 4 ribs, both collar bones, and both wrists. He used his wistle to call my uncle over. The medics couldn't find us so they sent a medevac to the coordinates my uncle gave from his GPS and the medevac landed in the corn field next to us. He's all better now and only hunts a ladder stand. I will not go up or down a tree without the harness attached.
  10. Re: what bow do u shoot? I have 2 bows, a PSE Bruin and a Hoyt V Tec. I don't shoot the PSE anymore, it's a spare. I love my V Tec.
  11. Re: Mechanical Broadheads Wasp SST Jackhammers work great for me. With a 1 3/4" cut, you could hit a foot and they'll bleed out in a few minutes. Well, maybe not a foot but, they are a open into a huge broadhead.
  12. Re: 18point buck(no pic yet) 157 lbs. Half of it must be antler.
  13. Re: Scumb bag strikes again! I had a ladder stolen a few years ago. I have a Cabela's Trophy Elite Climber that I like alot. I am considering getting a hang on API but I would take it out every day and not leave it on the tree. I am condifering switching the the Summit Viper.
  14. Re: 30 Foot Ladder Stand or Climbing Sticks I have been considering a hang on stand with climbing sticks very seriously. I want the API Grandstand Super Baby Grand Treestand. It has a large platforn and safety rail but, I've never used a hang on. I do not leave my stands in the tree when I am not there so, is a stand like this easy enough to set up and take down each time? For climbing sticks, I would get 2 packs of Summit Bucksteps. This would get me to 30 feet with no problem.
  15. I would like to get a 30 foot ladder stand but, I can't find any. Does anyone know where I can find one? I am thinking I may need to bye the stand I want and have 10 foot of ladder fabricated and another stabilizer bar. I know lots of companies make 20 foot climbing sticks but, does anyone make a 30 foot? Who has combined 2 packs to get to 30 foot and is it safe?
  16. Re: 2500 Game Tracker ??? Use a spray bottle with hydrogen peroxide in it. You don't have a string cattached to an arrow that way. The blood fizzes up and makes it easy to follow.
  17. Re: Ever used the \"Cough Silencer\"?? I read this yesterday and got the magnum cough muffler from H.S. It's not much different than coughing into your sleeve.
  18. Does anyone know who makes the deer camera that will e-mail you pictures or send them to a camera ready phone?
  19. Here's the situation. It's been raining and will continue to rain. Yesterday I went out for the evening hunt even though it was steadily raining. I used my ground blind so I could stay dry. As expected, I saw absolutely no deer. This mouring I wake up and there's a 4 pointer standing outside the kitchen window. Oh, it's still steadily raining. Now, do you think that the deer were forced out this morning to feed since they didn't feed yesterday evening or do you think they will come out tonight?
  20. Re: Trophy Ridge Customer Service I have the Guide Series so it's got the dampeners. They are just sending a new fiber optic piece with instructions on how to do the repair. The lady said it was an easy fix.
  21. Re: Trophy Ridge Customer Service .029
  22. The other day I was in my stand and noticed that the fiber optic on my 20 yard pin was broken. Seeing as how I just bought the sight 3 months ago I called Trophy Ridge to tell them. They took my address name and model number for the sight and are sending me a new one for free. That's good customer service. They didn't even ask how it happened. I have no idea anyway. Hopefully borken pins don't become a pattern.
  23. Re: Treestand Pack...What Else? I use the Tree Umbrella too. I works great. I actually bought enough of the holders that screw into the tree so that I can just leave them in place. I bought one extra incase I use a different tree for some reson. I have shot several deer with it in place. Using it with a bow means you have to put it higher so it doesn't cover you as well but, it works.
  24. Re: I tested mechanicals and don\'t like them My Wasp selectables opened nicely on the deer O shot last week. That was the first one I ever shot with abow so, they don't have a track record with me yet.
  25. Re: Guess it happens to everyone ? I shot 2 deer from the same stand in one day a couple years ago with my 12 guage. They'll be back. No doubt about it. Did you get the deer?
