  1. Re: Sleeper Big Buck States??? Sleeper state for whiteys??? I would have to say N/E Wyoming and/or Montana. Believe it or not, they are beginning to take some pig whitetails in these states. Definately not where most traditional whitetail hunters tend to think of when pursuing these animals.
  2. Re: Who can off-hand field score? First off, congratulations on a fine looking mule deer, you should be proud. As an official measurer, I've had the fortune to score LOTS of mule deer over the years and I agree with Steve (BCBOY) on the score (160 caliber). I've also arrowed quite a few from 160-200". It's sometimes difficult to judge deer from a photo, but the buck appears to be missing his left G1 and also has a short G4 on the same side. He looks about 24" wide (outside) which means his inside may be around 20-21"?? Average mass, coupled with some extras which will drop the overall net score. No way he'll score in the 190's unless we're missing a lot of points somewhere in the photo. Again, a darn nice deer. I wouldn't worry too much about the score, the experience you've had will last longer.
  3. Re: Why be against crossbows? Fly: If you don't like the answers given, maybe you should quit asking questions like these. Seems to me you only want to hear answers that YOU agree with. You asked the question, learn to live with people's honest opinions. JMO
  4. Re: Why be against crossbows? I'm not against them......as long as they're not associated with archery.
  5. Re: Boone and Crockets in state!!!! Hey Cam: Nice article and photos in Muley Crazy, by the way.
  6. Re: Boone and Crockets in state!!!! Saskman: Actually I beleive the score is correct. The confusion may be that this particular measurer did not immediately convert the fractions to the lowest (1/8") Example: Right column says 93 26/8, which is really 96 2/8". Left column is 104 31/8" which converts to 107 7/8". The difference column is 24 6/8". When you add the inside spread of 19 6/8", 96 2/8, 107 7/8 you will get a gross score of 223 7/8. When you deduct the dfference column of 24 6/8, you come up with a net typical score of 199 1/8". I thought the same thing as you, until I noticed the fractions. Hope it helps. 7. Well, California is a HUGE state. Need some more information. What species are you looking at hunting.....Blacktail, mule deer, hybrids?? What part of the state....southern , central, northern?? What type of weapon....rifle, bow, muzzleloader??
  8. Re: Gagger Monster Whitey (pics) Slammer buck OSOK.....You da man! But what I'm really in awe about is BCBOY with "4-point" status...... I'm impressed my northern brother. BOHNTR )))---------->
  9. Re: MOOSIE\'s IN DA HOUSE Snapper: Where do I start. I'll address a few points, as it's obvious you have not read ALL my posts and may be somewhat confused. I'll set the record straight for you. 1st: Does it really matter when some of us logged on and joined your site. Judge individuals NOT groups. I actually like the layout and have learned a few things. 2nd: I'm glad you didn't lock/delete all those threads. Thank you. However, I only commented on what YOU stated YOU wanted to do. 3rd: I'm a little older than the rest that have shown up here and nearly 10 years to you and will talk freedom ANYTIME I want. You may have a brother there now, but I lost mine in Viet Nam so get off your sympathy high horse and listen up. The reference was made because everyone needs to understand that although we may not all agree we are all the same. THAT'S what this country is all about. Expressing opinions, learning from each other, and learning to agree to disagree. 4th: Never, I repeat never, have I posted anything that says our hunting is harder than yours. I simply came here to explain OSOK's personality and was fired upon immediately. Many have responded well, but I detected a negative tone about you from the start. For that, I'm truly sorry, as it takes away from the site. However, I guess your handle is very fitting. BOHNTR )))---------------->
  10. Re: MOOSIE\'s IN DA HOUSE Moosie: This thread has a "Five Star" rating. I'm impressed, you've come a long way son. docdog: Have lots of family near your neck of the woods. Just north of Sallisaw to be exact. Lots of deer in that part of the country and on their farms. They literally walk about 100 yards from their house to their stand. Hard to imagine for westerner like me. Happy Holidays and save some chili, I'll be there in the spring. BOHNTR )))---------------->
  11. Re: MOOSIE\'s IN DA HOUSE DK, As you can see so did I. Man, I even introduced myself before posting anything. That's okay, it's their house and we're only a guest, even when nothing we've posted is even remotely close to immoral or unethical. That's too bad, I was looking forward to some of those photos you've got stored away. BOHNTR )))----------------->
  12. Re: MOOSIE\'s IN DA HOUSE Snapper: To answer you truthfully, no I've never heard of the Realtree site. When I saw it on our board, I thought I'd check it out and see what it had to offer. Since then I've authored a few posts, posted some photos for folks, and been labeled that "MonsterMuley" crowd. Now you want to lock all threads that have any of us in it? Wow, talk about censorship! That's not moderating, that's filling a personal vendetta. I'm glad our forefathers and brothers in Iraq are fighting for just the opposite, freedom. You see, one of the best things about this country is you learn to agree to disagree. As a moderator myself, I've had to let some "hotter" topics go and some not. But rest assurred, if no rules are broken, I wouldn't lock a thread just because "they" are from somewhere else! To those I conversed with for the short time here(GW Smith, iron, etc.) it was a pleasure. You're welcome at MM in the archery section anytime. Have a good holiday season. BOHNTR )))-------------->
