  1. Re: Sabres ALL THE WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I gotta say the Sabres took a storng season laste year and managed to build on it even further. It is still very early, but barring major injuries this team is going to be hard to beat. My Senators are looking ok, but without Chara we all know they will be even worse than usual in the post season. lol
  2. Re: Happy Birthday fisherguy! Thanks guys...i was hoping i would wake up and find someone chartered me a private jet so I could crouse home for a day and fill my moose tag. No such luck. lol

    Woo Hoo!

Re: Woo Hoo! Ohhh i wish i was up north right now. Not too likely we will get much of that in Aylmer lol. Only 9 more weeks and i can move back for good. Hopefully that stuff stays and you can get your sled out Shaun. I just got the news my new one arrived at the dealer this week. The small lakes up home are frozen and snow is there to stay. I can't wait to get home and break that baby in . lol
  4. Re: calling moose I would suspect in your area, much like here the rut is over someting in early October. As far as calling after the rut, i have tried it a few times. On a couple it had some success, on a most seemed to have no impact, and on at least one occasion made a bull wary and head off.
  5. Re: Unfortunately i got a bull tag. Ya, I am in Aylmer Shaun. And dut to midterms bieng immediately after the long weekend i had no chance to go home. The worst part is the guys got a bull and a calf, and passed on 4 other bulls (including the big one i missed with my bow last Year). They had him within 100 yards in the open for over 2 hourst total over 3 days, but passed him in favour of a tender yearling. Oh well, once I get up to first class salary i guess i can finance some moose tripsto other places as well as home. Chances are i have met your cousin...480 of us here, but i think i have met all the Ottawa girls.
  6. Re: BUCK OF A LIFETIME!!! 2006 WOW and congratulations. I have been expecting this post for a bout a week, but i was expecting that bruiser you took a picture of last year and passed on. Clearly you do your homework, but there has still got to be a horseshoe somewhere near you.
  7. Re: Happy Thanksgiving Canuks Have a great thanksgiving everyone, and eat some turkey for me. Stuck 1700 km from home here in southern Ontario for training. Gonna be nice to get back up north.
  8. Re: Hey Canucks.......Jim Shockey ?? We have different eagle laws than in the US! I do not know about all of Canada, but in Ontario anyway you can have eagle feathers you find on the ground. In fact if you hit one with a car, or find it dead, all you do is get a permit from teh MNR and you can have it mounted. Just recently eagles were further downgraded as far as threatened status. They are now getting quite low on the list of birds.
  9. Re: I know I\'m crazy Aside from the obvious difficulty of getting the canadian tire money lol those things are garbage. Save your $ and get a good one in a few years.
  10. Apparently this will be my standard issue sidearm. I have never owned or shot a handgun. Any opinions on this gun, tips on shooting? Obviously there will be a lot of time at the academy spent in the range getting training, but any advice would be appreciated.

    Jury duty

Re: Jury duty I am lucky...due to my career path i pretty much have lifetime immunity from being chosen for a jury.
  12. Re: NEW JOB!!!!! Heading to teh Red Lake detachment. They offered me a choice of a few, and that is theone I picked.

    NEW JOB!!!!!

I haven't had much time for the forums lately since I have been working really long hours in a gold mine. I went to School to become a police officer, and after a long (7 months) and intense screening process I got offered a job today. I report for training withe the Ontario Provincial Police late this month. The bad news is i have a bull moose tag for rifle season, and the 10 week season is during my 16 weeks of training 1500 miles away. Oh well, short term sacrifice I guess.
  14. Re: Unfortunately i got a bull tag. nope, pending me getting that test done on the 8th i will be at OPC all fall (basically the police academy). worst part is the posting they are pushing me through for is 3 hours south of the unit my tag is good for...so even if i make it to the posting before the end of the season, i will have to travel up for a weekend hunt. Maybe if i dream of it they will postpone me to the january class at OPC. lol
  15. Got my tag in the mail...one bull moose during the rifle season (first weekend in October to Dec 15th). Here is where it gets bad. An hour later i get a call telling me i have a job offer with the police service i have been in the application process with. It is conditional to me renewing one document next week, but looks like i am in. If i get that done it time I will be gone to Southern Ontario from mid August to the end of November or early december. So best case scenario i might get a long weekend to hunt. I am thrilled after such a long and stressful hiring process i am so close to being hired...but really couldn't they wait and send me for training with the January group? lol
  16. Re: Are you doing anything to save on gas???????? Honestly i try not to look. lol last week it was $1.23, mor now i am sure. Last night i filled up and didn't check the price. I have a 110 litre tank, running on fumes and it cost me over $130 to fill.
  17. Re: Throw those idiots into the Mediterranean some idiot our government evacuated was on the news complaining that the ship we the taxpayers paid to evacuate his stupid butt was not air conditioned and did not have sleeping cabins! You are being taken out of a mess you got yourself into at someone elses expense, be grateful! It is not like a conflict between Israel and Lebanon came out of nowhere.
  18. Re: Official Blabber Thread...... Baked trout, fried potatoes, some zuchini and beans from the garden, and fresh blueberry pie. Gotta eat the berries now since it is so hot and dry they will be gone within a couple weeks.
  19. Re: Current favorite song Best one right now is Still frame by Trapt. Lots of good songs in all gerre's coming out now, but that is the best.
  20. Re: 2 Part ? Rain is not a problem by deer season up here...that is my worst for bear and early moose. For deer i really hate it when it is about -25 or 30 and howling winds. Cold makes great hunting, but with the wind nothing moves, and it is miserable ot be out. I overcome it by putting on layers of clothes until I cannot shoulder my gun, then i take one layer off, put handwarmers in all pockets, boots, gloves, etc. I pick a spot out of the wind, and in the thickest stuff i can find. Better a spot you can oly see 30 yards that holds deer on a day like that that the open where you can't stay and the deer typically avoid. Then burrow myself in and hunt until the hypothermia starts to set in lol. Usually the really cold days 2-3 hours is all i can sit, but in the right spot that has been more than long enough a few times. The biggest thing is do not work up a sweat getting to the spot, and if you get a deer (or moose, or whatever) gather wood and start a fire BEFORE you gut it (lesson learned the hard way).
  21. Re: Are you doing anything to save on gas???????? I try to walk wherever i can...unfortunately working in the middle of nowhere means i am spending close to $300 a week on gas. If there was somewhere to live up there i would move.
  22. Re: got my banshee back Nice bike, but where to you put the deer on it, and won't the blood ruin the paint job? lol
  23. Re: Really Cool Program! Pretty worthless up here. Being in a sparsely populated area the quality of the images they took is bad. You can barely pick out a mile long lake.

    Siamese Pike

Re: Siamese Pike This one made the circuit a couple years ago. Someone just tucked the head of the smaller one into the gill plate of the larger one. Yet another internet hoax.
  25. Re: Official 2006 NHL Playoff/Stanley Cup thread Well that was the end of the series. Roloson is out according to McTavish. They got cocky with a 3-0 lead, but got back in the groove and i think it would have been a good OT finish. Now with the choice of two sub-par goaltenders they will be lucky to avoid a sweep. Not to mention the fact that Pronger...their defence man is leading the team in points. lol
