Re: POLL!! What meat is your favorite? moose, caribou. Bear is great if properly cared for and prepared, but if at all improperly cared for can be absolutely terrible.

Official 2006 NHL Playoff/Stanley Cup thread
fisherguy replied to TreeStandBowHunter's topic in NASCAR and Sports
Re: Official 2006 NHL Playoff/Stanley Cup thread I agree with muff's picks...except Ottawa. Hate to say my team is gonna lose, but after game 1 they would be better off wit me playing in goal or defense. I see yet another year where the senators choke in the playoffs. -
Re: UFC- Hughes vs Gracie This is a bad match. On paper it is great, the undefeated former champ, and a very dominant current champ. Unfortunately as others said i think Gracie is just too old and rusty to pull it out. I would love to be wrong though.

Re: Bowhunting polar bears? [ QUOTE ] Just one side note: I believe I am correct in stating that it is ILLEGAL to bring a polar bear into the USA. In otherwords if you killed it you would have to leave it in Canada. good luck to all the dog [/ QUOTE ] Wrong. The different polar bear populations in Canada are designated differently. IF the population is stable or increasing bears from that area can be imported to the US. In ares where there is a decline, or insufficient population data bears cannot be imported.

Re: Fall out Boy Show is not bad, but honestly the singer is pretty terrible without a recording studio to cover his bad singing.

Re: Ice Fishing?!?!??? Still lots of ice here, and still some snow on the ice. It has been raining all day so that snow may not be there for long. Still close to two feet of it in the bush though. It is supposed to stay warm this week so we may only have a couple more weeks before the ice is unsafe to fish from. Luckily that is when walleye season closes for the spawn.

Re: Death Rush (video) [ QUOTE ] i watched the video 3 times and none of the animals appeared to be injured before he shot them. I may be going againdt the grain in saying this bud. Although this isn't something i would personally do, i do not see why it is viewed as unethical, to me it just gives the animal more of a sporting chance, so if he is willing to risk his life for tht then that is his choice. just my 2 cents [/ QUOTE ] This video has been edited since i last saw it. The last version had closeups of buffalo he was taunting at close range spurting blood out their noses while he tried to make them charge. I am looking to see if the old one is still around or if it was removed due to the masses of negative feedback i am sure he got.

Re: Death Rush (video) What is unethical is the fact that in most cases this idiot is taunting already wounded animal to charge rather than finish them off quickly. Notice most of thebuffalo are already snorting blood out their noses. If they were uninjured he would just be nuts, but since he is teasing wounded animals IMO he is sick and unethical.

Re: price for a fish mount? For a good job I would expect arounhd $10 an inch. Replicas will be a bit more, but if done by a good taxidermist look great, last without the aging problems of a skin mount, and best of all let you release the fish.

Re: who traveled over 1000 miles to see me well 1000 miles would make it Someone from Quebec, Southeast ontario, or the northeast US maybe that will narrow it down because i have no clue.

Re: gettin lazak eye surgury the 24th Had it in april, and it was the best investment i ever made! As long as you did your research and are going to a good place don't worry, and prepare to toss your glasses. Oh and follow the post operative instructions they give you. I found a few days of boredom resting my eyes made me heal way faster than the average they told me to expect. Good Luck!

Re: Do you wear glasses I was blind as a bat, and hated the wat they got dirty, fged up etc hunting. Then i got the surgery and am now 20/20. best money i ever spent.

Re: Beavers why do you want to get rid of them? Are they flooding roads? Beavers are one of the best firends a deer hunter can have. Nothing can funnel deer like a beaver dam.

Re: Official Boston Bruins thread Well 4 years ago they pulled it together jsut in time, thei year i think they needed one more game. No doubt Canada had the most talented team there, but they can't seem to come togeter as a team as fast as other countries. I know they have a tough NHL schedule, but I think this is proof they need to find time to get them playing together a bit before the olympics. Either that or figure out why the other countries adapt to their new teammates so much faster.

Re: Bear-ly believable a bear in teh 100 to 150 pound range is absolutely capable of that and i would bet those pictures are real. Hunting a few years ago i had my bait barrel up high to keep the cubs out. One night a yearling about 125 pounds came in, stretched up on its hind legs to reach the barrel opening and did a chin up to get into it. The little bugger repeated the process for 20 minutes until it was full then left.

A friend of mine and i are thinking of cleaning up some skulls he got from his trap line this year, but i am not sure how to do it. So far the ones we threw in the freezer are pine marten, fisher, fox, lynx, mink, muskrat, beaver, coyote, wolf, and weasel. Boiling is not an appealig idea since neither of us has teh time or place to do it in the forseeable future, and i am worried thin skulls like that would get damaged. What would be the best method to get these cleaned and ready for peroxide? Thanks for any advise.

Re: How do I get the hide off an old skull ? I had a few like that and soaked them in water for a few days until it was soft enough to take off with a knife.

Re: Ice Fishin - Gillam Style I have used one a few times, and it was neat to use. Basically though for the cost i found it was just another piece of gear to haul along that í don't need.

Re: Cheney shoots someone By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer 1 minute ago WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and wounded a companion during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, spraying the fellow hunter in the face and chest with shotgun pellets. Harry Whittington, a millionaire attorney from Austin, was "alert and doing fine" in a Corpus Christi hospital Sunday after he was shot by Cheney on a ranch in south Texas, said Katharine Armstrong, the property's owner. He was described as in stable condition by Yvonne Wheeler, spokeswoman for the Christus Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi. Armstrong in an interview with The Associated Press said Whittington, 78, was mostly injured on his right side, with the pellets hitting his cheek, neck and chest during the incident which occurred late afternoon on Saturday She said emergency personnel traveling with Cheney tended to Whittington until the ambulance arrived. Cheney's spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington and his wife at the hospital on Sunday. The shooting was first reported by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. The vice president's office did not disclose the accident until nearly 24 hours after it happened. Armstrong said she was watching from a car while Cheney, Whittington and another hunter got out of the vehicle to shoot at a covey of quail. Whittington shot a bird and went to look for it in the tall grass, while Cheney and the third hunter walked to another spot and discovered a second covey. Whittington "came up from behind the vice president and the other hunter and didn't signal them or indicate to them or announce himself," Armstrong said. "The vice president didn't see him," she continued. "The covey flushed and the vice president picked out a bird and was following it and shot. And by god, Harry was in the line of fire and got peppered pretty good." Whittington has been a private practice attorney in Austin since 1950 and has long been active in Texas Republican politics. He's been appointed to several state boards, including when then-Gov. George W. Bush named him to the Texas Funeral Service Commission. Whittington owns property in Travis County worth at least $11 million, the Austin American-Statesman reported last year, not counting a downtown block at the center of a long-running dispute with the city over a condemnation issue. Armstrong, owner of the Armstrong Ranch where the accident occurred, said Whittington was bleeding and Cheney was very apologetic. "It broke the skin," she said of the shotgun pellets. "It knocked him silly. But he was fine. He was talking. His eyes were open. It didn't get in his eyes or anything like that." "Fortunately, the vice president has got a lot of medical people around him and so they were right there and probably more cautious than we would have been," she said. "The vice president has got an ambulance on call, so the ambulance came." Cheney is an avid hunter who makes annual hunting trips to South Dakota to hunt pheasants. He also travels frequently to Arkansas to hunt ducks. Armstrong said Cheney is a longtime friend who comes to the ranch to hunt about once a year and is "a very safe sportsman." She said Whittington is a regular, too, but she thought it was the first time the two men hunted together. "This is something that happens from time to time. You now, I've been peppered pretty well myself," said Armstrong. ___ Associated Press writer Paul Weber in Dallas contributed to this report.

Re: Ice Fishin - Gillam Style Shaun...good luck finding a driver who will take a loaded semi onto 16 inches. Same thing here, too much snow on teh ice for it to get as thick a normal. Still enough that the winter haul roads are geting going though.

Re: Canadian Elections Let me sum it up. The conservatives with i believe 124 seats are conerrvative, but not nearly as conservative as US Republicans. The Liberals are well liberals and have 103 seats, the NDP are basically communists and have 28 seats, and the Bloq are separtatists and have about 50 seats in Quebec(basically they fight anything that doesn't offer Quebec some sort of special treatment).
