No wonder you weren't missed, lol

No kidding, I was walking the streets of Waikiki this afternoon and there was an "obvious" homeless person holding a cardboard sign up that said "Support my alcohol research program" and he had a little can there to collect the money in, lol. I thought that was awesome. I seen that somewhere before but I forget where. Hey, at least he is honest about it, lol. Some hold up a sign for food but know that they are going to buy alcohol with the money they get, lol. This guy must have at least graduated lunch in high school if he is letting people know about his "obvious" alcohol problem that he wants the tourists to support. He smart, lol.

I have been on active duty in the Marine Corps since 1993. I am a Communications Security Manager. Been doing that for a while, lol. I retire in 2013 with 20 years of service in the Marines and I have no idea what I will do with my life after that. I have a BS in Security Management from AMU with concentration in information security and international terrorism. I still have no idea what I am going to do with my life but I am not retiring from the Marines without my Masters;). So with that said, I still don't know what I am going to do but I bet I will be setup for success, lol.

Palm Springs 4 - wildlife at last
TreeStandBowHunter replied to Canuck2's topic in Photography & Video
Yeah that's what I was going to say too, I think that one bird is a roadrunner. We used to see them all the time when I was stationed out in So. Cal. They had them things all over Camp Pendleton. -
Oh by far; the North Shore is definitely nicer and less congested than other places on Oahu. I think the management at the golf course is different than the resort itself, hopefully anyway, lol. I never got to experience the resort itself except from what I see on the course but I would rather this conference take place up there than down here with all the crazy people. Waikiki is as bad as Harlem, lol.
-
Well not permanently, not until June at least, lol...but I did make it too Hawaii for this conference. I left Japan yesterday. I was sitting in the ANA lounge yesterday up in Tokyo waiting to fly out and they had a 6.6 earthquake, I can't win with these earthquakes can I, they seem to follow me every where I go, lol? But the Hawaiian life is still the same, Waikiki hasn't changed, lol. Anyway, this is the first I have stepped foot back on American soil in over two years so it feels pretty good. It was hard trying to adapt to driving on the "right" side of the road again but I managed, lol. There were a few times that I wanted to turn on my turn signal and I ended up turning on the windshield wipers instead, lol. You know what's funny though, the language barrier is still there because most of the people here are Japanese, lol.
-
Turtle Bay is nice but then again the entire North Shore is beautiful. I never stayed at Turtle Bay Resort but I played both the Palmer and Fazio course when I was there in 2001 and 2008. Both courses are awesome.
-
I get to go to yet another conference in Hawaii, the Waikiki Beach Marriot Resort & Spa to be exact. I leave Japan in a few days and I will be there for about a week. It's funny because I leave here at noon and I arrive in Honolulu at 7:00am the same day, lol. Talk about gaining some life back, lol. I can't check into the hotel until after 2:00 so I plan on going straight up to the North Shore like I did the last time and play the Palmer Course at Turtle Bay. Anyone want to meet me there, lol.

Hope you have a good turn out, lol. -
Guess the jarhead got his after all, lol. Thanks, it looks great. Tonight when I get home from work, I'll slap it on there. I love it, thanks!

What can brown do for you? Get me my dang wheels thats what!
TreeStandBowHunter replied to The_Kat's topic in Lounge
Nice, lol. Did they come with thumping speakers too and a baseball cap with the sticker attached to it, lol. They are some cool rims though....yeah cool rims, lol. Glad you finally got them though. BTW, they look more platinum than gold, lol. -
I guess the Marine doesn't get his, lol.

Not to get off topic but I bet you got you some "spinners" didn't you, lol. Are they gold or silver? lol... Sorry but couldn't resist:1eye: Sure do hope the brown guys drop those wheels off for you soon though! -
If they are bringing me narcotics, they can come at me with any teeth as long as the medicine is good, lol.

I will keep him in my prayers tonight, Fred. Praying for a quick recovery for your son and many blessings thereafter.
-
Okay, I will take you're offer. Can you make me something "Marine" and put a hunting twist to it? I have been a jarhead for 17 years now so it's hard not to remember my roots but at the same time, I am big into bowhunting when I am in the states. Thanks in advance!

So the waves were pretty small but we still got to see the tsunami waves come in. My pictures are too big to post here so here is a link to our website (the first 3 are of the tsunami waves):http://web.me.com/mshzcmiller/Miller_Family_Website/Photos.html Because we live within 1000 meters from the coast line and not above 30ft above sea level, we had to leave our house. So I packed the family up and headed up to one of the ridge lines and got to watch the waves come in from about 500ft, lol. The waves were no larger than normal but it was cool seeing them come in because the tides were out already (low tide) so there was lots of dry land but when the waves came in, the dry land filled up pretty quick, like within minutes. There was a series of about 10-12 waves, one after another, and it took place in a matter of about 6-7 minutes. We were up pretty high and it was hazy but I did the best I could with the pictures. Not much too see but it was neat seeing how the ocean works in mysterious ways;) The pictures don't tell the whole story either, it looks like just normal waves but I guess you just had to be there to see this unfold. Definitely neat to witness how it works though.

Actually I thought that the media has covered all this very well so far. They keep making it clear that tsunamis are not what you see in Hollywood movies and are not necessarily a big wall of water coming to shore. I am glad the media is covering all this because it makes people aware of the severity that this could be, or not be. 20-30' waves that regularly crash against the seaboard are much different than a 10' tsunami hitting that same coastline. This affects us here in Okinawa as well. We live about 1/4 mile away from the beach and we venture down to the Sunabe Seawall all the time to look at the big waves that come in after a typhoon. Some of them have reached 20'. But I wouldn't want even a 10' tsunami crashing on the coast this close to our house. Its more about the surge than the height. We had a couple more aftershocks last night too.
-
So it ended up being recorded as a 7.0 earthquake. This was definitely an eye opener for us here. Like I said earlier, we have had little shakers here but nothing like this, this was a whole lot different. It sounded like a freight train outside and our whole house not only shook, but swayed as well. Everything is still standing and no tsunamis ever hit us. I think Chile just had a quake too...
-
I accept your apology, thanks, because I really needed that, lol. See, due to your apology, I will now be able to sleep tonight because if you were paying any attention to these forums today (or CNN/FOX news), we had a 7.0 earthquake last night at about 0530 which really interrupted my beauty sleep because according to you, I am a girl because I am into hockey, lol. Bagpipes? No, I wasn't really concerned if you played the bagpipes or not, I was just wondering who wore the skirt in your house, that's all, lol. Well you got me there, I am in Japan but unfortunately, I am not Japanese but rather 100% Pennsylvanian, lol. But I do question some of these Japanese folks though and it wouldn't surprise me if some of the men wore skirts, lol. No worries, I am who I am and you are who you are (the one with the skirt, lol)...I do find your signature funny though if that means anything to you, lol. BTW, I do feel much better knowing that you are not a basketball fan. Maybe I had you figured wrong all this time:rockon:.

The Lord blesses me everyday Steve. I slip up every now and then but I get right back on track. I actually feel like going out an witnessing to others just like I was witnessed too. It is a good feeling and like you, I feel like 100 pounds have been lifted off of my shoulders. It feels great.
-
lol, lets get in the rink and see who's a girl, lol. I bet your a basketball fan aren't you, lol. Girlies, lol. Or maybe you like chess? Maybe you were in the chess club in high school, lol. Hey Kat, maybe if you don't like hockey, maybe you shouldn't frequent this thread. You have a trend you know, you like to stir a lot of pots for being a mod, lol. Hey can I ask you a question Kat? Do you play the bagpipes with one of those cute skirts on, lol?

This is cool, we are on the news, lol. We as in Okinawa that is. I thought that we were unheard of out here, lol. Yay, we made the news, lol.http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/02/26/japan.okinawa.earthquake/index.html?hpt=T2

We have had little "shakers" every now and then here on the island of Okinawa but dude this one...this one woke up Okinawa, lol. It just happened about 1/2 ago at about 5:33am. It was a little different I must say, lol. All of a sudden we were woken up to a loud roar and shaking so then I was like "GET OUTSIDE", lol. I think others had the same idea, lol. It was an experience that's for sure. Now they have a tsunami watch for us but other than that, life is grand here in Okinawa, lol. Information about the quake is right here and the little "X" that you see, which is the epic center, is right where we are at in Central Okinawa (keep in mind Okinawa is only 67 miles long and 15 miles wide at its widest point): http://www.jma.go.jp/en/quake/

LOL, see this is why I could never be a celebrity or someone famous. Everything you said would be blown out of proportion and offend someone. This is who Michael is and this is how he talks all the time and anyone who watches him enough knows that. I think when someone moves on or changes who they do business with, people have the tendancy to look harder into what they say. I highly doubt he meant anything by it but that's just my opinion.
