Dicks has poor buyers and poor advertising and marketing....I see the same old inventory and ads every week and year....very boring......they never change their lay-out either.......boring.....of course they don't carry much new stuff anyway from year to year.....heck Walmart does better in new items and they are much smaller.....now our new Gander which is the largest in Ohio is huge and very nice with different stuff in every ad.....only bummer is its 25 mins north of me on the worst traffic side of town.....and Bass pro is only 35 mins south of me in Cinn.,.....nice store but they only carry about half of what their cat. offers,.....I really like Gander better.....lots of hard to find stuff there......Cabelas is 3 hrs. away and certainly the best of all 3 (I don't count Dicks too small) with the sheer size and Inventory.....glad Cabela's is not closer or I would go broke and be in the poor house for sure.....their cat's are tuff anuff to endure without wanting to empty my wallet on every page....lol.

Re: Digital Blue video hat cam.....only $ 49 Memory card is removable....and it only $ 49 at Gamestop stores....regular price use to be $ 100 .....but they just changed the price at my local stores......its not a sale or cleaance price either but a new regular price of only $ 49 ....prices should be changing soon at all stores......Gamestop employee told me the price of $ 100 was incorrect of which it use to be.......may have to call them and ask....I'm in Ohio.

Re: Digital Blue video hat cam.....only $ 49 It does come with a 32 mb sd card....not bad for the price there alone........the picture is pretty clear and I think will look even better on a sunny day......cloudy and rainy here ......now if I can just get it out of my boys hands and take it to the woods.....he's really digging it and adding effects and editing......again for the cash its really cool and I could see myself catching some cool hunting action on it....man if this had a hunting label on it ....it would cost more than a $100.....still better deal than $300 real one I saw.....Oh BTW .....it seems to pick up well in low light conditions......of course it gets a little grainy there....but pretty good....not sure if the flashing laser aim would upset game....to record you hit button........laser aim flashes on target so you know where it.s aiming.....very cool...hit button again its off and recording (does make a small chirp sound that I think I can muffle).......you control the amount of laser flashes.....it takes a few to find target.....the first website on where to buy.....www.toygroove.com ... has the best info. on them and has some nice demo's......some times I look outside of the hunting industry to find a more affordable product to use, should come handy for my ATV riding and fishing trips too

Re: Digital Blue video hat cam.....only $ 49 So far its not too bad...the audio is good too......we are gonna try it out in my blind deer and squirrel hunting....it fits on my hunting hat fine.....for $ 49 it should be ok....I've seen those hat cams for $ 300 that clip on your hat.....too much for me....The laser aiming works great...it flashes to let you know where its aiming before you start recording.....for hands free video it looks pretty good.....should be able to catch some action of my boy shooting while I can back him up.....

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah I did.....but these are flameless and quite harmless......they only put out 1,000 btu's.......they burn real similar to a hand warmer (an extra large hand warmer)......but a bit hotter.....heck a cirgarette lighter is more dangerous than one of these......this one is perfect for blind hunting......I know guys that use the Mr. Heater ones......you do have to be a little careful with those......they burn much hotter in blinds.....won't hunt in the cold without mine.....its the cat's-meow.

[/ QUOTE ] I got one of those this year too.....for my Brickhouse blind.....yeah they are nice and light and do take the chill off....you have to huddle over them a bit......but it was 12 degree's out and I could not tell it was that cold till I left the blind......works good and last 20 hrs. on 1 tank.....man I could have stay out all day with that heater.....hard to beat a roomy blind and heater for late season.......no treestands for me.......too windy and cold ! Shot one deer at 20' and pass one at 5'.....blinds work great.....gonna get another soon.

Ok I'm way over budget for this holiday season.....and I only have one kid....but since he's an only child and I did save up a little $$....he's getting a camo suit....a .22 rifle...blind....a few smaller things and the biggy is....one of those pepboy pit-bikes.....70cc.....this will be his 5th bike from there....to go with his 90cc atv.....I know he's a little spoil but a great kid just the same.....got his mommy a new camera and wet-vac and I'm still shopping.....jheeeez.....oh not to mention we pick up a new shed for 50% off....you know one of those big plastic ones.....man bet I spent $ 1,000 bucks already.....well its gonna be a good one around here.....and I thought I was saving this cash for me to get a new big toy......yeah right.....lol. Any body else over budget ?

Re: Wal mart- clearance going down again Yeah its different at differrent stores my Wally's don't do any clearence on the big stuff till Jan.,.....but did manage to get a couple of feeders for real cheap and may get another.......waiting for those blinds to go on sale....I have a couple....but one can never have too many blinds....lol.

Re: Stolen Blind Bummer.......I keep my Brickhouse blind out back all season and have had idle warnings since its close to a property line.....but it only cost me $ 130 to replace.....wish somebody would make a way to lock one up ?!?......try to put a trail camera on it next time to catch them in the act......

Re: Baiting I keep a feeder going out back and every night at least 2 does......show up to eat.....I have a blind set up a few hundred yards away....never have seen them in the day light....the deer are so few here that you need something for hope to see a deer....my game cam gets plenty of action all at night....hardly any bucks at all on the cam.......its an urban area.......man I ready to dump 2 stories of apples and corn......but still wouldn't see any day time deer......baiting is not a slam dunk here.......heck I've only seen 2 deer....no bucks....not much of a rut here.....no signs in the woods......I do see plenty of deer in the summer......I sure wish baiting worked as good as people say.....mineral licks never worked here......heck I tried it all.......peanut butter,homemade stuff,feed blocks etc.,.....now they do eat some clover I planted out back with the corn at night.......thats it.....again if I could see a deer at a bait pile in my blind with my son and shoot it I would !!! It would be our best day out.....but really its not gonna happen....urban deer are too smart to even hit a feeder in the daytime.......so maybe I need hang a big dinner bell on a tree before dark and ring it real loud.......would that work......??? lol !

Re: Trail Cameras I had a cuddy.....didn't care for it too much took it back and got a Leaf River of which I like very much...and have had now for over a year....trigger speed is way over rated IMHO.....if you set the cams up back off the trail a little and at the right angle with a low mb card (which does affect trigger speed...) and turn the dial up to the 2 o'clock position you'll get full pics....have not miss a full deer yet.......keep in mine fast triggers do drain batteries and image quality can suffer some.....Really like the Leaf and will be getting another one.....

Re: Blind hunting?? p.s.,....did use my little 1000 btu propane heater in mine.......very nice for cutting down the chill factor....its flameless......got at walmart for $25.....and very safe.

P.S.,.......had a doe almost stick her head in the window of my B.H.,...I think she was sniffing the deer scent I spray on the netting over the windows she never look at the blind much and just walk away from 3' mext to me.....and I did shoot a deer out of it after it was set only 1 day.....I do have the Max-4d camo which looks really good....and did brush it in well ....squirrels even dig right next to the blind walls.....I like them so much I bought another one for my boy to hunt out of.....

I have a 10 yr. old son who is getting a late start hunting......he's been fishing with me and I have taken him deer hunting a few times....he loves shooting his guns and bow....his fav is his Rossi single shot 22,....it comes with a 410 barrel but he doesn't like the sound of it yet...took him dove hunting once....he didn't shoot it....and we have been skeet shooting but he just likes to throw them and won't shoot yet.....so he has been bugging me to take him squirrel hunting out back in my deer blind.......well it was kinda hard to give up my deer blind for a little squirrel hunting.....but what the heck figure we would do some great bonding and have plenty of critters to shoot at......anyho....we saw our first squirrel perch on a log......he had to sit in my lap to get a shot off.......he took aim and flip the little critter........I was so proud....I really wasn't to sure if he had it in him to kill an animal....but he surprise and he is now hook on hunting.....I felt I may lose his interest in hunting If I did not do something quick.....I know this is a simple story drawn out kinda long.....But I feel so good knowing I finally did my part.....he has join the ranks.

I shot a few in a blind over the years....this year got one at 10 yards and pass on a doe at 10' waiting on something else.....man it was hard can't even believe I pass on her with a slam dunk shot....but I have meat sooooo.......I won't let it happen again....ha ! I'm really impress with my Brickhouse pop up blind as a matter of fact I may not get up in a tree again.....Deer have not even look at my blind...seen me or smell me once...at these close ranges......I do brush mine in real good.....and set it behind a few trees clump together.....the second day up I shot a deer point blank with my bow....I do leave it out for weeks in my backyard woods.....they pay it no attention what-so-ever.....only disadvantage is the view vs. a tree stand.....which you can see further in......but I've been busted so many times in a tree.

Re: Played Dangerous Hunts 2??? P.S.,....you can do stuff on your own...after you beat a mission....you can do a more traditional hunt......you have to play it a little before you really see all Cabelas pack into this one.

We just beat the new game and we are so impress with it , THEY REALLY LOADED THIS GAME UP WITH everything.....very well put together....glad they got rid of the silly store buying stuff it slow the loading time down too much....and first person viewing was in the first game as well....that way the animals have a better advantage....to equal the score.....this new one far exceeds my expectation's......the first one was really good but IMHO the second one is near perfect and much , much better !

I must be ill.....I'm a meat hunter and I did shoot a button buck 2 weeks ago so freezer has meat.....but there I was in my sneaky pop up blind and this doe came up on me walk to my blind and never saw it or me.....walk away at 10' and I just let her go waiting for something else.....oh well.....I hope I don't do that again.....lol. Am I ok or have I got caught in the antler craze......jeeze I hope not....?!?!

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah the first was good.....but we just got done playing a little of the new one (Dangerous Hunts 2) ....and OH MY....its really fantastic !!!.....totally different than the first one......much better graphics and its a total story and adventure of survival......the guides are really funny......watch out for hissing snakes, bee hives,bear traps....cages, sinking sand and other various dangers.....this game is by far the best yet from Cabelas.......they have taken gaming to a new level......PC version will be out Nov.19 and in the stores the 20th......its really wild with great intense music....its more of a movie adventure......really cool......check it out.....I think you will be very please......again not for the faint of heart......these ain't no skittish whitetails you normally hunt.....they hunt you and stalk you....very intense and crazy fun.....my 10 yr. is taking a break he was sweating pretty good......lol !!
